Hauling to Stockpile
« on: March 07, 2012, 05:13:01 pm »

Made new fort, got meeting area etc.

Made a stockpile and now the dwarves REFUSE to take items from cart to stockpile

EDIT:

I was following the wiki's quickstart guide more or less

Made a 3 story fort and set 1 floor to stockpile and 1 to meeting area

The first fort i had they just auto-moved the things to the stockpile

EDIT 3:

Made new stockpile in lvl 1 and got 1 barrel in it then nothing else

Using custom to allow for all cept corpses

Now they do nothing

Edit 2:

I've had one decent fort before i flooded it- could be either with the stockpiles, worked on the fort above

I tried all of khearns ideas and everything works

Are you sure you correctly set what the stockpile accepts? By default it creates an animal stockpile.

Did you dig the stockpile space from stone and then hide the stones that were left in the area? That gives you a stockpile that looks empty, but isn't.

Are you sure your dwarves have a clear path from the wagon to the stockpile? All stairs properly connected from level to level? All ramps are adjacent to a wall so they function properly? Create a military squad and us the squad menu to move it to the wagon, then down to the stockpile and make sure they can get from one to the other.

Do your dwarves have the hauling labors turned on? They're all on by default, so this is probably not it unless you turned them off.

Does it say *PAUSED* at the top of the screen on the left side? :)

Have them killed. Nothing solves a problem quite as effectively as simply having it killed.

Also to confirm: Have you run a successful fort in the past?  As in... is this a new problem with stockpiles, or is this a problem of how to use stockpiles?

Did you dig your stockpile into stone this time? There might be stones blocking the tiles from being used for stockpile space.
