Description: Orbiting a large Yellow-Blue star in the ________ Sector, producing a large variety of goods, weapons and vehicles for the Imperium. Ferventis Sartagine is notable for producing a large number of laser weaponry, and in the poorer sections of the planet charge-packs are sometimes used as a form of currency. The Adeptus Mechanicus pretty much controls the planet, and the number of Tech-Priests easily outnumbers the number of workers for the Administratum, Adeptus Arbites, and Adeptus Ministorum combined. The Inquisition has a small presence on the planet as well, for the Emperor is not worshiped as ardently as he should be.
The planet is around 66,000 kilometres in circumference, and most of the surface is covered with factories and blackened with the ever-present smog. Due to the smog and the rather large tilt of the planet, the season go from extreme to extreme on the planet, going from below 40 degrees in the depths of winter to near boiling in summer. To help relief the stress on the factories, the Adeptus Mechanicus set up a series of mirrors in orbit around the planet, directing sunlight on those parts affected by winter, and deflecting it away during the heat of summer. The material for these mirrors came from Ferventis Sartagine's only moon, which was eventually demolished so that it would not affect the orbit of the mirrors.
While the planet is technically ruled by an Oligarchy, the Adeptus Mechanicus controls it in all but name as an religious state. Thus the planet is managed by the latest technologies and theories floating around in the Adeptus Mechanicus. At birth all citizens are implanted with a chip that measures their health, performance, and a myriad of other factors deemed important. The Adeptus Mechanicus uses these factors to judge each person, using them to assign jobs, housing and luxuries. Ferventis Sartagine has no official currency, but a thriving black market exists planet-side, and large quantities of raw materials are traded for the goods it produces.
Local law enforcement on Ferventis Sartagine is large, yet corrupt, and many of its citizens prefer to turn to the Adeptus Mechanicus when a crime is committed. To protect their homes and family, many citizens have formed various militia bands. While tiny, they are equipped and trained by the Adeptus Mechanicus, and during an invasion are often called up as garrison troops. As a forge world Ferventis Sartagine maintains a large PDF force, backed up with a massive array of tanks, APCs and other armoured vehicles. Additionally Ferventis Sartagine can also summon a huge force of Titans, many of them fresh off the factories, yet with a dedicated and motivated crew. To protect such an important planet in the sector, the Imperial Navy has set up several bases in-system, and are backed up with a large amount of missile and laser support from the planet. Ferventis Sartagine has only founded one Imperial Guard unit (the 1st Ferventis Armoured Regiment), but provides a large number of arms, armour and vehicles for the surrounding systems. The Adeptus Mechanicus often draws regiments and units from Ferventis Sartagine for their own purposes.
Forge Worlds are the Mary Sues of the Imperium. They usually have the highest technology in the sector, and have enough guns, grunts and ships to implement Exterminatus on hundreds of other planets without breaking a sweat. Their only flaw is their inability to produce raw materials and foods to become self-sufficient, which only becomes a problem if they become isolated from the Imperium. I suppose the fact that their factories turn the surface into an inlivable hellhole would be a problem too.
