Will non-dwarf sentients breed?

Will they? I did a quick google search and couldn't find any info on it.

I was thinking about things like thrips men or slug men.

Only creatures with [PET] will breed.  As far as I know, tigermen are the only animalmen with [PET] in the vanilla game.
