Just created another new world, confirmed that I'm actually using 0.34.02, and minutes after embark my FPS dropped to single digits. 327 Giant Mosquitos were attacking a Brown Recluse Woman two tiles from my wagon. All 327 were clustered onto 6 tiles, and my dorfs kind of ... disappeared ... when they got covered.

Yeah, this is on Linux, and I'm running Debian 64 so I had to download and symlink a few libraries to get it to behave, but that shouldn't affect anything like this.

I found a fix for this bug, though: Embark to a Freezing biome. Problem solved, no more mosquitos. Watchdogs are a bit less useful though, since they die if you chain them up outside.
