Dwarves with elf names?
« on: February 22, 2012, 05:26:38 pm »

Is it possible for dwarves to be raised by elves, or something like that? I've never noticed anything like this in previous versions, but I have two dwarves in my fort called "Sareve Rayalinula" and "Alisa Nifipefo". Those are not dwarf names. I'm pretty sure. They are both former members of "the Buff Mirth" which kinda sounds like something elves would come up with. Is there any way I can find more information about that in-game? Is it new?

It definitely happened in previous versions - for example, if a Dwarf was abducted by Goblins and then married another abducted dwarf, its children would have Goblin names.
In your case, your dwarves were probably born into an Elven civilization but then rejoined your Dwarven civilization before becoming migrants.

It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

The first one is Rose TempestBury and the second is Bud Jewel. Some sort of weird Elf-Dwarf hybrid thing.

I've had this happen before: http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=101577.0

I think it's a new feature of DF2012, since I've never seen anything similar while playing DF2010. Dwarves are born in a different race's civ, and they get elven/human names.

I was wondering something; if you give Dwarves the Babysnatcher tag in their Entity raws, will you get non-dwarven migrants to your fortress from your civilization? Now that migrants are historical instead of being made up on the spot shouldn't you end up receiving some?

Knowing Belgium, everyone will vote for themselves out of mistrust for anyone else, and some kind of weird direct democracy coalition will need to be formed from 11 million or so individuals.
