What do I do with this horse corpse?
« on: February 22, 2012, 04:17:56 pm »

So a horse wandered into my mine (how it managed to climb down 2 flights of stairs I will never know) and I don't know how to move it. I don't want it stinking up my mine. It's in a dump pile for now, but it's still inside, how do I get it outside? preferably to the refuse pile

You simply need to make a refuse pile outside, and wait for a dwarf to move it there. Try turning corpses on on the pile.

Spoilers = Ok

In the mean time, put your refuse stockpile on top of the barracks where your Dwarves train. Keep killing the corpses till they stay dead.

Beat it until it gets up and moves away, obviously.   ;D

Otherwise designate a refuse pile or dump it outside. If the refuse pile accepts corpses it should get there as long as the corpse is inside, assuming you are using the default corpse collection settings.

Butcher it and eat it. When you said 'a horse' in the OP, you did mean a living one, yes? I have had corpses that entered the map as corpses yield meat, but I don't know how much compared to a formerly living animal.

I am trying to make chickens lay bees as eggs. So far it only produces a single "Tame Small Creature" when a hen lays bees.
Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.

But in all seriousness, a limited dump of magma would clear that problem right up.
