How to kill this vampire?

I just found a vampire, hes coated in quite a few layers of (creature) man bone/skin/hair rings/bracelets/etc.
Problem is, i would not like if the entire civ became hostile to me, since i dont have any companions, since i just got flanked in the dungeons. (human crossbow skills ftw!)
So, anyway so i can kill this vampire and drink his blood without having the entire civ going hostile to me?
(also, the nearest other civ is quite far away, im on a kind of sahara-island, the middle only contains a few bandit camps, only the sides are civilized)
What to do? i want vampirism pretty bad.


EDIT:
Doesnt look like its gonna be soon tough.
I fell into a pit in the catacombs, filled whit goblins and got both my arms lopped off.
I managed to retire, but that adventurer is no longer available.

Well, you can accuse him of being a night creature and HE will become hostile to the civ.
Nobody will notice if you drink his blood.

Vampires in DF don't have the running water weakness, though. At least, not yet. Heck, if anything, YOU'D be the one to drown - I've heard that vampires don't need to breathe!

I also found a human law-giver who had a fairly large number of dwarf and elf trinkets on him, who did not react to being accused.  Maybe he just killed a bunch of dwarves and elves in some long-ago war, and isn't actually a vampire.  This guy had maybe 20 such trinkets.  The actual vampire I found had hundreds...

Yeah, vampires tend to have hundreds of trophies. If it is just a score or two, he was probably just a really badass warrior.

He actually just had alot of (creaturename) man stuff, since those are sentient i tought this would count too.
IIRC, only Human, Dwarf, and Elf product-crafts are indicators.

I've seen scouts in villages who have animal man stuff, and they weren't vampires.

Animal men that inhabit sewers are combatted from above. You probably found a loyal soldier.

Also, I don't know how the accuse feature works, but you might have to build up some town reputation before going about accusing people.
