(Armorer != Armorsmith) Uh oh...
« on: November 07, 2007, 05:59:00 pm »

My ArmorER has gone fey, but unlike the ArmorSMITH... He claims NO workshop.

He wants neither forge, nor carpenter shop, nor Leather Shop, nor Clothier Shop, nor Tanner, nor Butcher, nor Siege, nor Craft, nor Kennel, nor.. Well Anything really.

I've built everything non-Magma-able, but still; If it has to do with armor, it should be either a Carpenter Shop (Wooden Shields), CraftShop (Bone and Shell armor) leatherworks (leather Armor), Clothier (uh... Cloth armor), or Forge (Das Metal Suiten) right? Is there glass armor in here or something?

I have no magma so I'm fairly certain that is out.

What does an Armorer want? I've built pretty much every workshop available. Even a kennel. For strapping puppies to their vests. Like dwarven ladies do with their babies. Just to check.

In fact, what is an Armorer in comparison to an Armorsmith? http://dwarf.lendemaindeveille.com/index.php/Skill
There is no Armorer in the list at all.

You'd think with 'Armorsmith' he'd putter straight to the metalsmith forge and boot the barrelmaker out but nooooooooo....
Is this fella a dead duck? or have one of you had one of these... specialists and know what he wants.

Much thanks,
Mick E Finn

Edit: He has done nothing but haul rocks for the oh... twenty minutes he's been on the map before he went fey. He has no other skills.

Did he go fey before you built the workshops. If the correct workshop is not available when he goes fey he will never claim one. Known bug.

Ah ha. That must be it, and might I say, that certainly sucks.

I recall in the days of 2d yore, you'd get a fey, then if you didn't have the workshop, you'd build it, or they'd take over a different one and convert it.

Time to bust out the crossbows I guess... *sigh* he woulda been a contender, I tells ya!

Danke for your time,
Mick E Finn

if you build a forge directly on top of him, he'll recognize it and get to work. that's the only way to get them to claim a workshop if you didn't already have one when they went fey.

that's still doable, assuming you have ore and fuel. bars are made in the smelter which doesn't require anything special to build, so you can make some random dwarf build one and make a couple metal bars.

And he's off! Some Gneiss Blocks? Native Silver, and more gneiss...
And he makes...
Istamtarmid, "The Light Blade", a Lead low boot
Arrgh.

This is a Lead low boot. All craftsdwarfship is of the highest quality. It is encircled with bands of Gneiss. This ovject is adorned with hanging rings of Silver and menaces with spikes of Lead.

And he's legendary... His title will be "The Booter"
And that while he'll carry the boot and bash people with it, in my heart it will always be like this:

Thank you very much for the help!

Oh and I forgot, it weighs 170, and is worth 19200*

Dang... That's one Hell of a boot, and it's only a low one. I pity the thigh-high high-boots...

He's like some kind of weird alchemist, except istead of making gold from lead he makes lead from silver. And rock.
