Do vampires always kill when they feed?

Seems like it'd be more balanced and fun if they only did so occasionally. Kind of makes more sense that a vampire wouldn't want to raise suspicion or limit his/her food supply.

If you let them, it's possible to cancel a feeding with military commands.

A couple threads mention that really large dwarves don't die when fed on.

It seems that 'feed' means 'take a specific amount of blood from', and if that amount kills, then the victim dies.
