I seem to have a reputation for solving my own problems, but this one doesn't seem to be fixable.

I made a little trade depot, and checked it accessibility. Problem: EVERYWHERE around me is totally inaccessible. Below, above, wagons can't get anywhere. What now?

check the tiles around the edge of the map, on the same level as the depot

if there are boulders or trees, get rid of them, all the way straight to your depot

Look at the trade depot. There should be a few green spots on the depot itself. Areas are marked inaccessible if within one square there is a tree, wall or boulder. So smooth out the boulders, cut down the trees and break down walls. Do this until you have a path to each side.

Don't make the mistake I made and put the trade depot on another level or inside the doors.

It was too high to trade, so I gave up on that settlement.
