I had a swarm of 170 mosquito's just before, 29 missing dwarves, 5 found dead. Fml.

I am not totally sure that dwarves are completely safe from them. I believe I had a dwarf miner that hated mosquitos. He was running back to the fort with a stack of wood and ran into the pack of 200. He dropped the wood and attacked the buggers with his mining pick. I believe he was strangled by a mosquito wing.

The funniest thing is seeing a vampyric dwarf dodging into the river, and being repeatedly strangled by a mosquito. (Until the river froze over)

Watching the epic, tragic, and poetic collapse of a longstanding fortress is Fun.

Being killed 5 seconds after embark by 200-strong giant mosquito swarms gets old fast and is frustrating.

However, does result in the rare and beloved gem of master miner going into a martial trance and killing 30 of them. The other 170 are still ungodly annoying though.
