Secrets, necromancers and liches

It is possible to make a condition for the search of a secret to be someone who already have another secret?

For example, I want to make my necromancers in a way that they don't have eternal life and don't have to be a mortal to get the secret, but once they know how to raise the dead, they will search for a way of becoming immortal, therefore discovering the secret of eternal life and becoming liches. And maybe forming cults like the vampires...but I think this is even more difficult.

Is this possible?
