Fortress of Mirrors...

I have an image of a fortress constructed entirely out of silver, polished to a mirror like shine.  The mirrors should keep vampires out, since they detest mirrors, and at very least would make them easy to detect, seeing as they don't have reflections.  The fact that everything is made of silver should also keep werewolves away, seeing as they're "allergic" to it.

You can go even further: build your fortress so that there is a castle above ground, surrounded by five tiles of glass floor, under which you build an exact copy of the fortress upside-down. You can keep anything you don't like in one castle, and the rest of the stuff in the other.

It's a cool idea but wouldn't do much if anything for DF. You forgot that DF vampires and werecreatures are randomly generated - what they are weak to is randomly decided. I can just imagine a fort that was made out of silver and then a wereskunk destroying it because it was weak to copper not silver.
