Need some help modding weapons 31.25
« on: February 17, 2012, 11:41:30 am »

Hello, is it possible to add burn damage to a weapon? for instance making a fire axe? I came across a weapon in a mod which had [ATTACK:BURN:40000:6000:burn:burns:NO_SUB:1250] in it and was wondering if thats possible or not without some other type of modding being done. The wiki said the attack types are EDGE and BLUNT, i couldn't find BURN anywhere.

Thanks

EDGE and BLUNT are the only attack types. Putting anything else will give you errors.

You could try making a material that's perpetually on fire and making an axe out of it. Dwarves are just as flammable as goblins, though.

The lower-caps burn/burn are just descriptors, you could create a normal weapon that uses similar words and the combat log will read like you use a burning weapon. No actual effect though.

In 31.25 short answer, no.

Long answer, yes; But you need to make the metal boil at blood temperature. It must get embedded into the target which point the weapon will boil (and you will lose the weapon). So it's more effective with bolts and arrows. Even then it's hit and miss, it will boil without hitting anything in a scorching biome, and not at all in a freezing biome.

In 34.01 a very large maybe. I'm aware that creatures can have weaknesses to metal. You're going to have to ask someone with a little more know how :P

you can make the weapon so that it is super hot, but that will set fire to your hands.
even with the right gloves there still a bit crap as weapons

Agree, plus that's about the LAST thing *I* want to see from this kind of game - author spending valuable development time on useless graphics.

Another question, How does weapon damage work?

i know it has something to do with these tags.

[ATTACK:EDGE:40000:6000:hack:hacks:NO_SUB:1250]
[ATTACK:BLUNT:40000:6000:slap:slaps:flat:1250]
[ATTACK:BLUNT:100:1000:strike:strikes:pommel:1000]

but lets say i wanted to make this item more powerful, how would i do that? Increase the velocity modifier?
