Are vampire curses randomly generated?

Specifically, the way they spread. Is there any other way other than drinking their blood? Cause I think it's not having any effect.

Well the only other bodily fluid in DF is vomit...

Wow, I would actually watch Twilight if vampirism spread like that!

Drink the blood of a sleeping entity.

You need to drink vamp blood and then feed on a ko'd person. While their unconsious and ress e to eat and select suck Urist McTasty's blood. You will turn red have a little red ñ next to your name. Im not sure what it means but but it seems to boost your skills. The night-creature state only lasts for so long.

You also have fangs for a short time after feeding.

It seems very dwarven to use the hell itself as a garbage disposal. I can just see this isolated pile of goblin clothing, rotten food, and chunks of animals sitting there in a featureless plain, slowly cooking in the heat as demons pick at it.
