I usually form my military in groups of same-weapon 2-man squads.  However, I once placed an axedwarf and a hammerdwarf in the same squad.  That fort didn't last too long for unrelated reasons, but I noticed that those two never did any weapon demonstrations.  They engaged in other demonstrations like Shield and Armor User, but I wonder if the times they would've started a weapon demonstration, they sparred instead because of the dissimilar weapons.  On top of the time 2-man squads spar already, perhaps this could be an even better way to train up, non-Danger Room-style.  Anyone observe this for longer than a season with the same result?

My Dwarf's just never did weapon demonstrations. Even in same weapon squads.
