7 dwarf games and kids?

in 7 dwarf games, will the dwarves form relationships and have children (thereby slowly increasing your population)?

I thought that children were only born after a married couple migrates in.

Yes, only couples who migrate in married will have children. Dwarves that are not married (including your starting seven) will not marry and will not reproduce.

I thought that they could get married and reproduce this version.  I know Toady was at least intending on doing that.

By the way, this is why so many soldiers have babies. The peasants that migrate in are almost always the wives of the immigrants, and people often use those peasants for the army.

neat, is this true? the dwarves 'send for their family' when they establish work?

The original 7 remain as they are, but the new immigrants often bring families (sometimes even kids).

Not exactly, they bring their family with them.  Any time a peasant arrives, it will be married to one of the craftsdwarves it arrives with.

(More directly, immigrant craftsdwarves will sometimes bring their Peasant spouses and any children they may have.  But Peasants never immigrate on their own.)
