Incidentally: I tracked down and slew a vampire posing as the lord of a human civ and then I drank the blood on my weapon and nothing happened. Do you have to be bitten? Do you have to be the same race?

From other posts I've gathered that you should try drinking the blood multiple times until you're infected.

Usually I export the world map during gen or in legends mode, since they're really visible even at that level. They're huge purple *I*s.

also to become a full vampire you must go near someone sleeping (unconscious) and press "e" you'll get a new option "feed on insertnamehere" and THEN you become a vampire (you will literally grow fangs)

Well, kinda.  If you look in legends mode, you'll see something like "(YOURNAME) consumed the tainted blood of the vampire, and was cursed."  You immediately become a vampire upon drinking the blood, but it won't show up in your name and you won't see any visible signs until you drink someone's blood.  Even that will wear off after a while, presumably so that you can go back to blending in, though villagers don't seem to mind adventurer vampires at all.  Oddly, I've noticed that after drinking blood, for the next day or so I'll intermittently go into "vampire mode" again.

Ahh! Can someone give a simple guide to becomeing a necropractor? I have tried a LOT but i can't! What should i do? cheart? Become soley ambusher? What?

I don't think elves can become necromancers. I cleared out a whole tower by throwing stones and I read the slab, still no necromancy powers. It's a shame, I wanted to go across the countryside with undead giant thrips and thrip men.

Elves can't be necromancers it would be like bringing an shepherd's pie to life for them.
As in they eat corpses so they won't have enough interest to go out and raise one from the dead.
But good news you could hire a necro to do that for you since your too down with nature and corpse hungry to do such a thing.
Just make sure you don't go and naw on the corpses while he rezing them.

Does being a vampire give you any needs, though? Do you need to feed like motals need to eat and drink?

EDIT: Could you also be a werecreature, necromancer, AND vampire ALL AT ONCE?
