Okay, so the "Take full bin from Stockpile" thread got me thinking and I came up with this: Dwarves who are assigned Item Hauling will, if there are any available, carry around an empty bin. Then instead of hauling a hundred items one-by-one, they'll just pick stuff up and stick it in the bin, then place the bin in an appropriate stockpile once its full. If there isn't an appropriate stockpile then they'll just drop it wherever they are once its filled up, but as a rule they'd only pick up things in broad categories (clothes, crafts, blocks, bars, etc.) Alternately, they might instead take an empty bin from a stockpile, fill it up with whatever that stockpile is for, then return it- this would require something like a 'reserved bins' option, but assigned to stockpiles on an individual basis.

I's also like to see Item Hauling broken into more specific labors, like 'bar/block hauling, weapon/armor hauling, craft hauling, etc.' but that's more of an afterthought.

I do kind of like this idea. Although most of my items are already stored in bins (if they can be stored in bins). I'm not sure, but I think something like this is planned already or has been suggested before.

    * Being able to haul multiple small objects
    * Having multiple dwarves involved with item hauling for a job
    * Being able to move multiple objects with roughly the same destination at once
    * Wheelbarrows to haul more objects than can be carried
    * Minecarts
          o Wooden, stone-carved and metal tracks
          o Can be filled like stockpiles and moved between destinations
    * Work animals to tow carts and haul objects
