A thought occurred. Has anyone ever experimented with trying to get ground creatures to spawn in the air? Like some sort of glitch where the units think there is a walkable tile somewhere, but there really isn't? We could have the migrants spawn 20z's up in the air, and have them kill themselves on the ground! Or make a smaller drop and have free and easy training for your doctors.

It sounds like something that could be done, but I wouldn't know where to begin to induce such a glitch. Any ideas?

Don't think that's possible at all.... It's either they spawn on a map edge tile, or it's blocked and they do nothing. Something doable could probably be to leave only one map edge tile, so migrants and whatever all start fighting against themselves and falling...

Try building a multiple z-level wall around the edge of the map.
If the migrants don't enter on top of this wall, then all's good.
If they do, build a retracting bridge on the same level as the top of the wall, and designate it as a meeting area. The migrants will sit on the bridge and do nothing...until you retract the bridge with a lever you linked earlier. Hurrah for miscellaneous body parts.

Dwarf bonus: Exchange the retracting bridge for a raising bridge, and launch the migrants back to whence they spawned.
SuperDwarf bonus: Place magma underneath retracting bridge.
MegaDwarf bonus: Exchange dwarf migrants for elven caravan.

Sadly, it's impossible to build walls near the map edges above ground, and anyways, building walls creates a walkable tile above them, which migrants would be able to spawn on :d
Retractable bridges that have been raised blocks them from spawning completely, though the bridge flinging idea should be given a go :P
