DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: What's going on in your fort?

Haven't seen a dwarven paradrop that crazy in many a version.  At least you can walk down, right?

Surprised nobody's mentioned "The Viceroy" yet.  Ostensibly its a game about managing an interstellar empire recovering from a nasty reunification.  In practice, it's blind clicking everything on the screen in the hopes that some obscure piece of functionality achieves a given goal without crashing any industries or starving a million people to death.

I bought it at launch and played it for hours, yes hours, without ever managing to complete the first tutorial.  Game is beyond opaque, but I love it because I know there's something special going on.

My summer car.

Imagine car mechanic simulator taken to the next level. Have to tune the carb, tension the belts, align the steering. That's after you assemble a car from scratch, all with little or no hints. Also you have to make money to eat and fuel your rides doing odd jobs with other very well simulated vehicles.

I'm still going through tutorials just to learn how to put motor oil in the engine.

At least I know proper usage of a sauna room now, in case that ever comes up.

Other Games / Re: Stellaris: Paradox Interactive IN SPACE

This has probably been asked before, but under default conditions, does Stellaris ensure that the closest AI power to you at start is someone with diametrically opposed ideologies?  Because that's been my experience over more than a dozen games.

Turning off some of the game start options sounds like it would randomize things more but I haven't seen much effect.

Sounds like a forgotten beast syndrome. Dwarven malaria is not a thing yet.

Is there a puddle of extract/blood somewhere?

There's no mystery about where it's coming from.  Like I said, haunted jungle - it's raining some foul substance everyone gets covered with when they go outside.  At least, I'm pretty sure that's what's causing the fever.

If I can wash people off and keep them indoors, they should be fine.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Everyone is feverish, how worried should I be?
« on: November 14, 2016, 07:16:28 pm »
Long story short, haunted jungles are terrible places to live.  Virtually every dwarf in my fort and all of my livestock now list the "Fever" condition.

This doesn't seem to impair them very much, but it's pretty disconcerting.  Plus, the entire population blinking red X's all the gets distracting.  I'm not sure how to prevent this problem entirely short of stopping everyone from going outside ever again, but the best I can do is a shower system to wash all of their contaminants off.

Asceticism aside, should I be worried about this?  And why doesn't my Chief Master Diagnostician consider "everyone is burning within their skin" a problem worth reporting?

Still a chance it goes sanity. Increasingly unlikely, though.

With Wisconsin effectively called for Trump (nobody believes it strongly enough to say so yet, but it is), and Clinton trailing by 4% in Arizona, she would have to win Michigan and New Hampshire to reach 269.  And that's including Pennsylvania, which Trump is slightly leading right now.

The way is shut, the dead keep it.

I'm finding it a little strange that after watching the caucus results come in for four hours, the Democrat register totals have constantly shown Clinton 3-to-8 points ahead of Sanders.

Hm?  They have been less then 1% apart for a couple hours at least now.

Not percentage, vote wise.  I don't actually know what a "vote" is in a caucus, but the results I'm looking at now show Clinton with 694 to Sanders' 692.  I think they're caucusing locations or something, I heard there were about 1500 of them.

I'm listening to a replay of Cruz's victory speech, and he's mostly rambling about local campaign workers, all of whom sound like they really need a good personal life, like the guy who quit his job to work for the campaign.

And now he's thanking Rick Perry and Glenn Beck.  Good for you, Ted.

And it's still only 97% in.  I don't know how caucuses are counted, but this is getting silly.

Question: who cares about Homestuck anymore?

At this point I just want to know how it ends.  The final flash, or HTML5 whatever thing, should be pretty great.

I've considered rereading the whole thing first, but it's not like there's anything I don't remember.

HIS TIME IS NOW AND HIS TECHNIQUE IS UPON US

IN 100 YEARS, THERE WILL BE A LEITMOTIF FOR EVERY CONCEPT UNDER THE SUN, AND ALL WILL KNOW THEM

He already made Megalovania.  I'm strongly considering buying one of the follower-quadcopters, putting a speaker on it, and having it play that song as I walk around all day.  My life will never stop being awesome.

Some weird math going on with the Dem totals....Clinton went from 0.2% up to 0.8% up, and now back to 0.2% with just 1% more precincts reporting.

Well, the numbers are very close, so, a small change is going to look large this close together.

The poll site I'm F5-ing like the motherfucking fist of the north star shows Clinton 657 caucuses to Sanders 654 caucussss, with 94% of caucii reporting.

Iown, stop toying with my heart dammit.  I want drama!

Tell me about it.

According to NBC - Clinton up over Sanders by six goddamn vote-things with ten percent of the vote left.
