In my military is a rather unassuming mace-dwarf called Urist Squirtsabers (ewww). Now, he's far from a champion, and he normally lags behind the rest of the squad but he can be trusted upon to slaughter whoever he can reach when asked. What makes him remarkable is that when training he received a nasty wound to the upper-body, crushed under a hammer-blow. Unlike most of these wounds, his spine wasn't damaged but he was laid up in bed for several seasons with a mangled lung. I considered transferring him to the guard so his weaponry could be given to someone more useful, but next siege I saw him up and swinging his mace. With a mangled lung.
Just because Armok gave you two lungs, doesn't mean you've got one spare!

Seriously. He occasionally gets winded. And that's it

Armok made dwarves symmetrical so that if you get chopped in half you are still combat effective! It's not His fault you don't use your right-side heart.
