what is the WALL about, plain civs can build? Chinese walls?

in the RAW's it says that plain-civs (humans) can build a wall
WORLD_CONSTRUCTION:WALL

they can also build bridges and roads, but no tunnels. That I understand.

But what is the wall? some kind of Chinese Great Wall, or Hadrians wall, or The Wall from GOT?

It is intended to be something along those lines, yes, but right now civs aren't smart enough to tell where their biggest threat is coming from and that they ought to actually build the walls, so these are effectively not implemented.

A part of me suspects that they'll be implemented in the upcoming army improvements, but there has been no official word on that.

Civs understanding where to build their settlements in relation to other civs goes way beyond Improved Sieges and basic off-site army management. Not likely to be a thing until Politics & Society arc, probably.

By that logic, we shouldn't have had the new magic zombies till after the first myth and magic release, don't you think?

It's a big, beautiful border wall with a golden door that the elves still haven't paid for yet. :P

For what it's worth, Human civilizations have had "[WORLD_CONSTRUCTION:WALL]" since version 0.28.181.39a (which was released nearly 12 years ago), but it's not clear whether it's ever actually done anything.

Well, the new zombies do have magic effects, and so will probably have to be redone after magic is implemented "for real".
