Play With Your Buddies / The Surgeon Bandits, a Rimworld Story
« on: January 05, 2021, 05:04:04 am »
This journal was written by I, Evgeny Tyler of the Surgeon Bandits. I write this as a warning to others should the project of my fellow researcher Cain 'Wicked' Thompson be the death of me. I also write this journal to log the history of this colony as although my mind is bright, my memory does not match it.

If you find this journal, beware the human psyche ravaged by the acts of men, and give not unto them the power to smite thee.

This journal has been made well after the beginning of the colony, so the following is my regrettably poor recollection.

Spoiler: Recap (click to show/hide)

I have recently managed to hack into an ancient satellite, Somehow this thing seems to have ground penetrating scanners and software to render images of underground areas as if viewed unimpeded, but I presume the scanner must be damaged as it cannot penetrate deep enough to find ore, I'll settle with using it for taking pictures and attach them here.

Other Games / What is a good co-op game for tabletop simulator?
« on: January 21, 2015, 08:08:40 pm »
As the title says. There's tons of games for it on steam, but I have no idea what is good, let alone what is cooperative.

Basically I'm looking for something to play with a friend, not against. A game that can do just 2 players would be preferable, but bonus points if it can be played with more. It would also be nice if it wasn't too terribly complex, I'm open to but not preferring anything that requires significant strategy.

I thought I'd bring attention to this game that showed up in my video watching. It seems to be a very relaxed game that lets you build your ship out of basic shapes and then lets you pilot it in combat. It has very nice particle effects and atmosphere already in its current stage.

The game is now out on early access for steam, if you havn't gotten it through the kickstarter campaign, now is your chance to try out the beta for yourself.

Life Advice / High pitched sound from monitor.
« on: July 24, 2012, 11:53:18 am »
Sometimes, whenever I am viewing any screen with I'd say at least 50% white, my monitor starts giving out this high pitched sound that fills the room and even bleeds out into the neighboring room. It's incredibly annoying and it's worrying me if it's giving out some sort of radiation that may once day give me superpowers.

Since I don't want the government knocking on my doors to extract my sciences to benefit all mankind. I'd like to get rid of this sound. Any ideas?

Creative Projects / Car-gurps-thing, Sprite showcase
« on: October 18, 2011, 07:16:57 pm »
Although a work in progress, the rules are fairly fleshed out, the main product of this thread will be the sprites I intend to use.
This system is intended as an add-on to GURPS, and used with maptools.

Warning: For those who intend to participate as a player in this system, you may want to stay away from the spoilers, they will feature various sprites which may or may not be intended as secrets by your GM.

Rules v0.3

The rules as of current are for a 'New ice age' setting, and thus the sprites will likely be built around this concept. I may end up making alternate versions of otherwise ice-y parts if I get to the point where I have a healthy number for the game I intend to run.
Be sure to set the 'vehicle grid' to 64x64, some sprites may be otherwise difficult to align, I will provide alignment tips on a sprite by sprite basis.
I have also added parenthesis on either side of each picture so people know if their browser loaded a picture or not.

Other Games / Two sorts of games I'm looking for.
« on: October 11, 2011, 10:18:58 am »
Anyone remember Robot Arena 2? The game simulated the televised robot combat that had strong popularity early in the new millennium. It featured customizable chassis shapes as well as a healthy selection of parts to cobble together into weapons.
Sadly, it has fallen behind the times, with failure to run properly starting at Vista. And even during the time of its heyday, the physics system did get awfully glitchy if you got too exploratious with putting together multiple mover parts. It was however fairly robust.

What I'm looking for is a new game that continues the legacy on newer systems, hopefully with more stability and customizability if I'm lucky.

The second game I'm looking for is a simple windowed spectator game, as an example a game where I can plop down some walls and a couple guys with guns and have them battle to the death would be suitible. Optimally it would be something that takes little processing power to run, doesn't require involvement to enjoy, or require constant use of the internet connection.

Simply put, it will not do the job, I put the bag in and even over 4 minutes of microwaving the bag doesn't even feel warm.

Our microwave is a Hamilton Beach. And I can't really give anything better than model number- HB-P100N30AL-S3

The popcorn in question was a normal bag of pop-weaver butter flavor. Which expires November of next year. Tried two such bags, neither saw any success what so ever.

I checked power settings for the microwave and as far as I know the power settings are intended to only reduce the applied microwave power.

Life Advice / Video capture FPS issues.

I've moved to a new machine in the past few months, and ever since it has been unable to produce streams of a quality to my older machine which should have been inferior to this one.

This current machine has an ATI Radeon 9600 graphics card. Whereas the previous one had an integrated Nvidia 6000(Something) chipset and inferior RAM.

I'd give better information but I'm really bad at that. O\

Some time ago Exkirby created a Non BSF version of my TBS. I liked how he designed it but it didn't last long. I've decided to bring this back.

For some time I was frustrated by the fact that MTG is pretty much always competitive. But I devised this little idea to change that, and allow people to get together without getting at each other's throats over it.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Please tell me what you think, if any details are unanswered, and of course feel free to use it with your friends!

Personally, I think the +1 life bonus is a little weak, but I have yet to playtest this.

You can get yourself set up with apprentice here.

In the local zoo of [NONAMETOWN], children and their parents are swarming, the park attendants are keeping things orderly, Trash is no-where to be seen, and the day is sunny. Nothing is going wrong.

Except one thing... YOU ARE BORED.

It's like this every damn day, and there never seems to be excitement, just wake up, wait for the food bowls to be filled, eat, and... wait for the day to end without some kid throwing a soda bottle in your direction.

So... Being bored and all and somehow coming to the realization of this... What do you do?

Life Advice / Installation issues with disks on Windows 7
« on: April 21, 2011, 04:07:39 pm »
I have attempted to install Unreal Tournament 3 onto my external hard-drive using an external disk drive. Each time I attempt this the installer becomes absurdly slow. It even causes other programs to not respond until progress is made, even the task manager. It makes the system so unresponsive I have to unplug my computer entirely.

I have tried several times with certain changes such as installing to my primary hard-drive, using compatibility modes, and turning off my antivirus. All fruitless.

I then went to attempt installing Unreal Tournament 2004, same issues.

I would attempt a completely different game from outside that series, but I don't want to stress my computer with all the hard shutdowns. I'm assuming this has to do with install shield somehow in relation to disk installation.

Forum Games and Roleplaying / Nomic TBS (Nomic Phase)
« on: March 13, 2011, 04:13:07 pm »
This game is sponsored by Nuclear Diplomacy, Nuke your friends and family!

The Nomic TBS is effectively a more structured game of nomic. In it, there are effectively two games...

The TBS: In which, four players attempt to eliminate each other through whatever means are availible.
The Nomic Council: Which are 5 players whom watch over the TBS and vote on game changing rules, these rules may effect the TBS, or even how the Nomic Counsel operates.

These two will likely interact strongly with each other.

And now the rules, which will change, a lot.

These are the invention fields for each player.

(Yes, I did add the ability for me to vote upon Nomic subjects, this is for me to have some control over any subjects that might horribly break the game, I left a way to strip me of that power if anyone thinks I might abuse it. And it can be countered by unanimous decision.)

And now the map...
