DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Problem with Pop Cap

I am playing the previous version (non 2014).  I just started again after a few years of absence.  I have set my pop cal to 10 (for varying reasons), yet i keep ending up with 20-30 dwarves and migrants.  Is there a floor level for pop cap that you cant go below?  maybe 30 or so?

Also, I am using the most recent lazy newb program with dfhack built in.  Is that maybe the problem?

Sorry to say it, but step one would be realizing that the problem is you and not your bosses/jobs/co-workers.  Graduating/getting a new job wont change the anger you seem to be carrying around as both a weapon and shield, it will just follow you.  Second step would be coming to the conclusion that you need someone outside of your situation to work through it with you (not here - not enough interaction).  Step three would be to discuss all your anger problems, why you think they are morons, why the bosses are lazy, etc and then listen openly when your chosen helper responds.  Because the truth of it is, nearly all of our anger problems are really being angry atr ourselves over something.  Sometimes its obvious, sometimes it takes another person to say "Hey, Duh, what about x?  Isnt that really your problem not theirs?"

There is no ban o the communist manifesto in the USA.  We read it in highschool.  No it wasnt indoctrination.  Or maybe it was, since it was a private Christian highschool and all we did was pick it apart.  :)

Thats odd, I havent gotten personal messages in like 10 months, I wonder if everyone has been getting that.  Crap.  Lemme look into it.

OK, please send me the exact details of the rules for your challenge.  The C- was just a childish slap, my apologies.  I would love to critic your piece based on what I learned in my writing workshop class, I just need to know what the goal of the piece was supposed to be.
