Dwarf Fortress - Abbey of Blossoming - Chapter One

Welcome to my new story using the Steam Version of Dwarf Fortress.  Version 50.08.

Of course, it is modded.  The biggest mod is Primal 50.07.  But I also have Caboose's Cambrian Arthropods 1.02, Dwarven tea Party 1.0, More Food Names 3.0, and Pump Helmet Men Revolution 1.1 to help give it a intertesting twist.

I will be writing it from a first-person point of view.  In other words I will dorf a dwarf and write the chapters from their perdpective.  So not all knowing and not really involoved with what was happening behind the scenes.  Just a everyday worker.  Working 9 to 5.  So enjoy!

Oh, if you want to be dorfed just ask.

================================================================

Dear Diary,

Well, we've done it.  We've finnally arrived at the new home for us all.  Which we have named the Abbey of Blossoming.  As we have selected what seems like a jungle to live in we will likely see a lot of things blossoming.  There are plenty of plants and trees.  Right off the bat I noticed a coffee tree sapling.  Lots of food and drinks available if we are careful about which trees we cut down.

The Tongs of Pinches sent us, the Life of Teaching, to colonize this place.  And we plan to do so.

The Expedition Leader is named Amost Rigothrash.  I am not really sure what skills she has as a leader.  She is musical and cheerful but also humorless.  Kind of a weird mixture.  I did hear her once say, "It's not a gift if you expect something in return."  I hear she is a adequate apprasier so she may handle the trading side of things.

There is Ral Idenustuth, a Miner, who is also cheerful but also overbearing and values nature.  She makes me think of a elf.  I know, that's insulting. Maybe just a bad first impression?  I heard her say, "One should always respect the law."  So maybe I just need to learn more about her?

My fellow Woodworker is named Sigun Godenamnkin and is curious and dutiful but disdains peace and that kind of worries me.  As we will likely be working together a lot and may, if I understand how the settlement will be built, share quarters.  On arrival she just said "Everything's good."  So maybe she, like me, sees the forest as a good starting point?

Meng Kanzudastesh is the Mason who is toletant and seeks harmony but recovers slowly.  Not sure how good a Mason she will be.  She said, "I don't feel like I need to chase anything."  I assume she will not be helping with the animals.

There is also a Peasant named Deler Dodokshetbeth.  Strong yet avoids fights.  Nor is she greedy.  Once again, not too sure about her.  Once heard her say, "Why must they be so violent?"

Then there is Oddom Urvadrigoth the Farmer who is not wastful, is cheerful, and focused.  To be honest she seems to be the most solid of my fellow travelers.  I overheard her say to somebody else, "It's best to slow down and just relax."

And as I always say, "I'm doing well."   And I was when we arrived.

Of course you may have noticed we are all females.  I hope we get some males soon.  How will our settlement grow if some of us don't find mates?

As for the equipment we had the normal amnount of seeds, weapons, and so on.  I noticed a lot of hammers.  Many of the others had some skill with hammers.  As I do.

The animals were, on the other hand, more interesting as they were carefully selected.

Two male Utahraptors trained for war with two adult females to breed with.  Two male and two female Plump Helmet Man.  Or is it men?

Two sows and two boars.  Two nanny goats and two billy goats.  And of course, two roosters and two hens.

The draft animals were also somewhat interesting.  We have a male horse and a wooly mammoth, male.  Who, I have been told, can be trained to be a war animal!

The nearby creek...river....whatever does have some fish and there are lots of repiles and amphibians also in the water.  Fishing should be good.  As long as the amphibians don't attack us.

Likely fruit from the trees, berries from bushes, and fish from the river will be our main source of food before our first harvest.  Besides what we have brought with us.  So farming plots will need to be dug out, trees picked for chopping down, and bushes and trees selected to be gathered from.

The plan, if I understand it right, is to make a above ground town shaped like a spiral.

And I have been ordered to design it.

Wish me well,

'Callisto'

I see that you've already got the new fort in the works, makes me wonder if this world will be as violent and hostile as the World of Bones.

Well, there are dinosaurs running around.  But outside of the mods I added I left the rest of the game vanilla.

Sounds like we'll be seeing a new situation in this world, bet it'll be interesting especially with dinosaurs since I've never played around with that mod.

Dwarf Fortress - Abbey of Blossoming - Chapter Two

Dear Diary,

Of course while me and Sigun chopped down trees the rest gathered plants and Ral dug out the underground farming chambers, the seed room, and three pens.  One for the pigs, one for the chickens, and one for the Pump Helmet Men.

The other animals were given a pasture a little way from the building site.  And yes, the first structure was to house the carpenter's workshop and a small wood stockpile.  Next door a building was attached to the first, on the southern wall, which would house a kitchen and a still.  And attached to IT was an enclosed above ground garden.

A table and chair were placed in the southern buidling so Amost, the Expedition Leader, who was also now the Broker, Manager, and Bookkeeper, could have a office.

The Trade Depot was built to the east of the buildings.  Which would be the center of the colony.

The second floor was to be bedrooms.  One, which was completed in mid spring, was for the Woodworkers.  Yes, we have to share.  The other will like be shared by the Farmer and the Peasant.  Though, to be honest, everybody seems to be helping with the farming plots.

They won't be private, people will be walking through the bedrooms all the time, but they keep the bugs out and give us some shade.

As we don't have a glass industry yet I decided to use floor gates as the ceiling to the indoor garden to allow sunlight and rain into the garden plots while protecting it from wild animals such as birds.  We don't have glass but, to be honest, we don't NEED a greenhouse.  The seeds were collected from the forest itself.  So they don't need any special care.  Just protection from the wildlife.

And the others are already working on a third floor to be a storage area.

By the end of spring a rough outline of a barn had also been started.  Of course, a second floor will house storage and more workshops.  And we will build more buildings to the east.  I will slowly design a outwards spiralling series of buildings.  Of course, the pools of water will have to be covered.  Maybe turned into wells?

The building will likely be many floors tall in most cases and I will have to design drawbridges that lift up, becoming walls, with covered bridges above with bolt slits.  We will see.  It is likely most of the buildings will be only accessed from other buildings.

The Miner had dug two probing starways looking for stone but has only found damp ground and had to stop.  We may have to import stone if we need it.  At least we have enough food and drink for now.  We won't starve.

Wish me well,

Dwarf Fortress - Abbey of Blossoming - Chapter Three

Dear Diary,

We have a slight mystery.  As I finished my last entry I noticed, near the Trade Depot, a pool of blood.  It has been identified as the blood of a Koolasuchus.

I know this because there were witnesses who saw it enter the outpost.  Maybe it was trying to get at one of the livestock?

What happened was one of the Utahraptors got it.  I assume one of the males as they are trained for war and conflict.   In fact one of them has blood on its tail.  It has now been nicknamed 'Kool'.

But the mystery is I can't find the body.  It isn't in a corpse dump.  Or any of the other places were garbage or refure is placed.

And we don't have a Buther's workshop.  So where did the body go?  Did another animal come and grab it?  Surely they would have been noticed and also attacked?  How does a three meter long body go missing?

Then I noticed all of our raptors have Koolasuchus blood on them.  In fact the other male was COVERED with Koolasuchus blood.  Maybe the raptors ate it?

Either way the name was given to the other male and the first male is once again nameless.

Also, with the threat of something truly dangerous out there it has been decided my two next projects will be barracks and a hospital.

Also it has been suggested I work on a tavern and finish the bedrooms.  Summer may bring more heat.  Also autumn and winter may bring rains.  So having a dry bed to sleep in and a good tavern to socialize in would help keep everybody's spirits high.

Also, by then, there might be more food and drink that needs a tavern to be stored in.  I already have a name for it in mind.  I was thinking something like the Sword & Maid.  Maybe a tad too traditional.  But it sounds good to me.

I do use also a lot, don't I?

Of course the Miner, Ral, had been told to continue searching for stone.

A section of the nearby waterway has been picked out for a good place to fish.  How the Leader judged that I have no idea.  Isn't the waters around here dangerous?

Wish me well,

Dwarf Fortress - Abbey of Blossoming - Chapter Four

Dear Diary,

As we worked on the buildings, and finished the second bedroom, there was another animal attacked by the raptors in the middle of Hematite.  The others called it a Carnotaurus.

It seems to be a carnivore with a pair of horns on its head.  Carnivore or not it wasn't doing too well against the raptors.  They are slicing and dicing the thing.  It won't last long.  From what I learned later it looks like it made a run for it.  Because there was blood but no body.

It was decided to dig out a storage area under the barn.  Mostly because it was feared the Miner would grow bored and upset by a lack of work.

Then, on the 20th of Malachite, while we were still working on roofs and workshops and storage and trying to figure out where to put the bedrooms and having not even started on the hospital or barracks or tavern we get told that migrants have arrived.

Oh boy.  They are not going to like this place.

Coming from the south was first Id Lashedfeasts, a Stonecrafter, who was the creator of 'A Record of the Composition'.  At least, that's what she said.

She brought with her two children.  Her only son Ingish and her only daughter Nish.  I hope they don't get eaten.

The next to follow them was a Cattenm Caughtclasp.  He is going to love it here.  He's a Miner.

Funny enough there was another Miner named Ducim Helmedknowing.   Who was rude and, according rumors, has two lovers.  Or had.  Wonderful.

After him came Etur Cryptrules.  An Engraver.  Who will also love it here.  Not.

We still havn't found any stone at the time of their arrival.  So they are going to have to do other jobs.

They also brought a stray Edmontosaurus calf.  I will have to ask somebody else what that even is.

Oh, by late summer we decided to eat the horse.

And the bridge across the stream...river...whatever has been finished.  The northeast region was picked for gathering.  Not that anybody has done any gathering that I noticed.  Even after they made me make more stepladders.  Not bitter.  Likely gathering will happen during autumn?

Also Deler Clasptwinkles had become a Herbalist.  Maybe due to working outside more than anything else?

Also the Leader ordered all the Plump Helmet Men butchered.  Something about they broke the door to their pen?  Weird.  Almost like they were trying to escape.  Or overthrow us.  Oh well.

I am using also a lot again.

Anyway, the door will be replaced and nest boxes will be placed in the pen.  The raptors will be moved there.  The chickens will also get nest boxes.

Soon we will have more animals and eggs!

Autumn had come.   And...well...not much got done.  The walls and floors of the tavern has been started.

And the barn now has a basement and a upper floor.  Though the upper floor is still without a roof.  Still, we now have a Farmer's workshop, a Butcher's shop, a Craftmen's shop, a Tanner's shop, and a Fishery.

The building in which I sleep has also a third floor now full of stuff.  Still needs a roof.  And the flies are becoming a bother.

Still, the drink supply has held up somewhat.  If the inventory is correct we have about 14 units of Dwarven ale, 7 units of Dwarven beer, 15 units of Dwarven rum, 5 units of Fisher berry wine, 3 units of River spirits, and 105 units of Dwarven wine.

And the food has increased.  We have 5 Utahraptor eggs sliders...oops...1 rice beer slider...how do you even make that?  4 prepared horse kidney rolls, 4 units of prepared horse lung preserves, 13 cave lobster cakes, 17 goat's milk cakes, 13 plump helmet men tissue cakes...ewww.  3 prepared horse spleen platters, 5 chopped horse liver dumplings, and 16 goat cheese dumplings.

We all have different tastes.  A few things did go rotten before we could cook them or put them in storage.  Maybe I need to make another kitchen and still?

I noticed my roommate, Sigun, likes the goat cheese cakes.  Well, at least she was eating one.  Though she is getting pissed off at the lack of chairs.  I assume this is a hint I need to hurry up with the tavern.  In fact more than one person has loudly complained about the lack of chairs.

Also the Miner...well, now Miners, have yet to find a stone level.  When they go too deep all they find is wet soil and stop.  Drowning underground is a silly way to die.

And I continue making lots and lots of barrels.

Wish me well,

'Callisto'

The Abbey grows. I find the dinosaur sprites to be extremely disturbing, in their own special way. As if a child's nightmare was brought to life and now stalks the woods, hunting for blood.

Dwarf Fortress - Abbey of Blossoming - Chapter Five

Dear Diary,

Autumn came and I worried that our tavern, barracks, and hospital would not be finished before winter.  And of course we needed more bedrooms.

Now that we numbered 13 we would need more then 7 bedrooms.

It was the 13th of Limestone when the liaoson arrived.  Rimtar Bisekurist from Olin Nonub had came.  She, of course, came to have a meeting with the Leader.

The Leader asked for stone to be delivered next time.  The liaoson asked for the export of crutches and tanned hides.

And a Merchant arrived with a Axedwarf and a water buffalo bull loaded with stuff to trade.

So of course we tried to find something to trade.  We didn't really have anything of value.  Though we did have a few wood crafts laying here and there which we took to the Depot.  Maybe we could get some drinks or bags or something of use?

We ended up getting leather.  We also got some stones.  Or at least clay stuff.  We hope to make a Quern?  Maybe?

Nope.  The stuff we bought is useless for being real stone.  Damn traders.

Oh, and the pigs has piglets and the nanny goats gave birth also.

Oh uh.  The Stonecrafter was attacked by a honey badger.  The Leader ordered a few to grab some hammers, pick a squad, and go kill.

One of which was me!  I am now a soldier in the Clearings of Brass.  So off we went to kill a badger.

And we killed it.  Seems I landed the killing blow with a hammer.  Then we all went back to our work.  Oh...I think I dropped the hammer.  I really need to finish that barracks.

On the 16th of Sandstone we found the corpse of the Stonecrafter.  I guess she was really hurt by the badger.  Damn.  Now we have her two kids to care for.  Caskets need to be made.

And more migrants arrived.  I'll never make enough bedrooms at this rate.

The first to appear was Mistem Tradedbeards.  A female Woodcutter.     Who disdains craftwork and commerce.  And as a female has no beard.  Weird.

Then there was Meng Mergedboards.  A Gelder.  Tough but a little single-minded.  Fearless but also disdained knowledge.  Maybe make him part of the squad?

There there was somebody useful.  A Doctor named ushrir Amazecudgel.  Which, I am not going to lie, is a cool name.  Of course the Leader made him the Chief Medical Dwarf.  Now I just have to finish the hospital.

Then there was Deduk Grandpages, a BeeKeeper.  Which was great because we already have two hives full of bees.

And a woolly mammoth calf.  Female.  So breeding pair once she is an adult?  We can have herds of war mammoths!  Oh...and a baby alpaca.

There was a report, also, of a tiny dinosaur, called a Juravenator, being a little terror.  So the squad went and chased it.  It turned out it could climb trees...so..chasing is the word.  After a few, what seemed like days, we gave up.

I think I might have to dump some more settlers into the old bedrooms while the colonists build the new ones.  I don't want the kids running around without some kind of shelter.  And there is lots of room.  We just have to get along.  Right?

Oh, and the tavern is finished.  But the name is the Sword-Woman.  For some reason we don't have a symbol for maid in our language.

And the Beekeeper was given the honor of being the Tavern Keeper.

By late autumn many are happy to eat in the 'dining room'.  The tavern.  Much to my happiness.

Oh, and the dead Stonecrafter was finally buried.  No ghosts for us!

Also everybody but one settler has a bedroom.  Some have to share.  And others...well...you'll see when I show you the blueprints.

Oh, and we received a visitor near the end of autumn also.  A ground ape.  I mean human.  A pikeman named Ormoil Trampledstockades.

Seemed well armed but we are not sure why she is here.

Oh.  She want straight to the tavern.  I can't hide my pride.  Oh wait.  Seems she knows the Doctor?

Then winter.  Oh, yeah, let me show you the changes.

First, I allowed more beds into the exisiting bedrooms.

Also made four tiny bedrooms, finished the tavern, and started on the hospital.  And the visitor started telling a story when I last checked.  Also we brought our own stone mugs.  Maybe we should have brought some STONE!

Started on the second floor.  Four more bedrooms and a barracks will be up there.  Those in the north facing bedrooms can peek into the outside.  Kind of...

And I started digging out...well..tiny tombs.

I think while I continue on my current projects I might make a temple, a small one, to the east.  I hear a few people would like to...well..pray.

Still, our first death and two children without a mother.  Winter, snow or no, will likely be a tad depressing.

Wish me well,

'Callisto'

Dwarf Fortress - Abbey of Blossoming - Chapter Six

Dear Diary,

Winter has come.  Funny, I don't think it is any cooler.  Hmmm.

On the 6th of Moonstone we have a visitor.  A Olm Woman Merchant.

It seems she went straight to the tavern.  Once again I feel some pride at that.

She started chitchatting with the human warrior. They are having a 'intellectual discussion'

And it seems the newcomer knows Sigun the Woodworker.  My roommate.  Interesting.  I guess the Olm folk make friends quickly.

By the 7th she was telling a story to the human Pikeperson.

We have a lot of Dwarven wine.  More than any other drink.  I don't mind it.  I drink it myself.  But we should try to get a little more variety.

Also seems the Olm woman spread some rumor or news.  But I don't know what it is.  Oh well.  Wish we had some kind of system to record news or rumors.  Oh well....

On the 26th of Moonstone, while gathering plants, fruits, and berried to the north of the outpost in the area we picked for large scale gathering we ran into a pissed off Triceeratops.  As got into a fight.  The Squad was told to go arm itself and THEN start a fight with the dinosaur.

But it killed Ral Idenustuth the Hammerdwarf!  This is horrible!  It charged her and took her head clean off!

We were told to withdraw!

Then we had a Bard show up.  Dwarf male named Alath Stockadewood.  Pretty young for a Bard.  Only 26 years old.  Wonder how many stories he knows?  Course he went straight towards the Tavern.

The human Pikeperson left but the Olm woman is listening to the Bard tell tall tales.

On the 24th of Opal, mid winter, the Olm woman had left and the Bard was in the tavern all by himself.  Alone.  Socializing.  Once again, may I point out, to an emtpy tavern.

By late winter a female Bard showed up named Lor Goldenpracticed.

By late winter a female Bard showed up named Kib Appearedgalleys.

We now have more Bards in the tavern than citizens.  Talking, mostly, to each other.

Spring has come and the chickens had a bunch of chicks hatch!  I am starting to wonder if the raptors are asexual or don't like nest boxes.

And the Abbey has grown.  We have the barracks almost finished.  We're still missing most of the roof.

Still there is enough to start training.  But the Leader was having issues with the paperwork.  No matter what he did almost everybody went to training.  Which is NOT what he wanted.  In the end he just ended up removing most of the citizens from the squad.  Sadly I am still one of the soldiers.

We also now have four empty, unneeded, bedrooms.  I guess I miscounted.  And the Hospital is ALMOST finished.  Just needs beds, a well, and other items.  Without stone we can't make a well yet.

The drinks seemed to have expanded in their selection.  We have 10 units of rice beer, 5 units of dwarven ale, 3 units of dwarven rum, 5 units of prickle berry wine, 5 units of sewer brew, 13 units of caeambola wine, 175 of dwarven wine, and 4 of arabica cherry wine.

I have been told if we can get some stone we can make...coffee...or something like that.

Some of the food has gone bad because we still don't have enough barrels or room to store them.  On the other hand arabica cherry wine pie sounds good.  Not too sure about taro pierogi or finger lime pastry on the other hand.

I seem to have so many jobs now!  We need more workers.  But then I will have to work harder to design and build more bedrooms!

Wish me well,

'Callisto'

Dwarf Fortress - Abbey of Blossoming - Chapter Seven

Dear Diary,

I have decided to write a little about the citizens of the outpost.  How they are handling their new life, their relationships, and so on.

First the Founders.  The first seven.  Well, now six with the death of Ral by the horned dinosaur.

The Expedition Leader, Amost Craftsdied, is wearing many hats.  She is the Manager, Broker, and Bookkeeper.  And seems to be handling pretty well.

Though she is worried about her clothing.  Seems she prefers fancy, rich, clothing.  Well, not really something available in the outpost as of yet.

Yet her circle of friends, or even psdding acquaintances, are pretty small.  I don't think she talks to the new imgrants unless it is business related.

Then there is my roommate, Sigun Ropeglad, who is also one of my fellow soldiers.

She is neither happy or sad.  She is fighting the stress but isn't winning against. Nor is it winning against her.  She is becoming bored and lonely.

Like the Leader her circle of friends is small.

Then there is Meng Kanzudastesh, the Mason, who isn't very happy.  She is uneasy, lonely, and seems to be unhappy with the lastest Bards and their performances.  Like the other Founders her circle of friends is small.

Then there is Oddom Urvadrigoth, the Planters, who also seems to enjoy fishing.  Which seems to be helping her as she seems...happy.

But even she is lonely and, once again, her circle of friends seem to be limited to the Founders.

Then there is Deler Dodoksherbeth, who is now the Milita Commander, who seems to have embraced the frontier life.

But like everybody else she misses family and feels uneasy.  She wants to pray also.  She is handling the stress.  But she could go either way.  Happy or unset depending if it rains or is sunny tomorrow.

Then there is me.  To be honest I'm not very happy.  Being wounded by the damn horned dinosaur didn't help.

My friends are limited to the Founders.  Minus Ral.  I really NEED to make a Temple for general prayer and religious outlet.

Then there was the First Wave of Migrants.

Sadly, of course, one of them was killed by a honey badger.  And she left two children behind.

One was her daughter Nish Inkysinks.  Who is not doing well.  She is upset and has nightmares of her mother's death.

She tries to stay busy but I don't think it is working.  On the other hand she has her brother, one of the migrants was her half-brother, and one of the visiting Bards turned out to be her AUNT!

Still, for a two year old she is doing okay.

Her brother, Ingish Bookgazes, is not doing well at all.  He yells, he cries, and he tries to lose himself in work and food.  But is at the bottom of the ladder when it comes to happiness.  In other words he isn't happy at all.

I hope he can recover.  He has a slightly larger circle of friends and acquaintances so that MIGHT help him in the long run?

Then there is Catten Caughtclasp.  The Miner.  Somewhat young, at only 26 years old.  He is neither happy nor angry.  Kind of just trying to survive.

So far he has only made one friend after arriving so I am kind of worried about that.  Also he seems to have a LONG list of Deities he worships.  Another reason to get a Non-Deity Temple up.

Then there is Ducim Helmedknowing, another Miner, who seems to be chilling.  Maybe because if the two lovers?  Seems to be stable guy and enjoys cooking and brewering and everything.

He is one of the citizens I am not worried about.

Then there is Etur Cryptrules, the Engraver, who is doing everything but engraving.  He is, like many others, neither very happy nor very sad.

Funny enough he didn't seem impressed with the Bards either.  Maybe we are getting badly trained Bards?

The Second Wave, while smaller, at least hasn't had anybody die yet.

First off is Mistem Tradedbeards, a Woodcutter, who is married to Meng.  Meng, is the older half-brother to the two children.

Funny enough she does not talk to the kids and mostly seems upset at the lack of a Temple.  On the other hand she seems to visit the Tavern a lot.

Her husband is a Recuit but dabbles in a few other things.  Such as cooking and planting.  But like his wife really needs to pray to Cor.

He does talk to the kids and seems to be stable.  Neither sad or happy.  Just doing his best to keep himself, his family, and the Outpost in one piece.

Then there is ushrir Amazecudgel, who was a Doctor before becoming Chief Medical Dwarf.  And like a few of the citizens, he is neither happy nor sad.  He just is.

He has a Spouse, two lovers, and a pet woolly mammoth calf.   The wife showed up in the Second Wave with him, the Beekeeper who became the Tavern Keeper.  I assume she is one of the lovers.  The other one isn't here.

Then there was Deduk Grandpages, the Tavern Keeper, who like the others wishes to pray to her many Dieties.

Sadly, like many of the Second Wave, she has only a few citizens among her circle of friends.  But at least her Spouse was there.

So those are the people I have to deal with.  I guess a Temple is next once I finish the hospital and barracks.

Wish me well,

'Callisto'

Dang that's a lot of people needing to prey, looks like the entire fort will be in that temple as soon as it's built.

Dwarf Fortress - Abbey of Blossoming - Chapter Eight

Dear Diary,

Spring has sprung as the apes say.  My plans, right now, is to finish the barracks and the hospital.   And start on a general Temple for worship and meditation.  I have already started making a rough outline on where the walls will go.

There are some rocks in the way.  May have them smoothed down and even engraved.  Might make some of the citizens happy to see some artwork in the doorframe of the building?

Somebody peeked into the raptors' pen and noticed the females have claimed the nest boxes.  They have eggs!  And door has been barred so they should hatch and give us raptor chicks to train to become more war raptors.

Also we need more nest boxes for the chickens.

Went to the hospital.  It isn't totally finished but the Doctor was able to see me and work on me.

More piglets were born also.

Darn it.  I was delivering some wood and got attacked by a honey badger!  Right in the outpost.  The squad was called out to deal with it.

It was killed.  But now I am starting think the damn things are more dangerous than the dinosaurs.

This is awkward.  In mid spring I got trapped up a tree and only got down when Amost Craftsdied came over with a ladder to gather some fruit.   The shame to be helped by the Leader just to get out of the tree.

I went straight to the tavern and ate a orange I had picked fresh from the tree I have been trapped in.

Noticed only one Bard.  Alath Kikrostlolum who is still socializing with many of the citizens in the tavern and telling stories.

Not much work is getting done between the animals attacks, the need to drink and grow food, and the crutch carving.  Nobody even started on the temple yet!  So the Leader ordered the crutch order cancelled for now.  Or at least halted.

Oh, we seem to have tea now.  And I have been told we also have coffee bean cowder.  I think I'll stick to fresh fruit and wine.

On the 29th of Slate a human Bard named Thep Ishanik arrived.  I assume he wanted to visit my...er...our tavern.

When I saw him my first thought was he looked more like a wise man or a hermit.  He was thin and has long hair which was grey mixed with white.  Very tanned.  He was wearing a tunic, a skirt and had a blowpipe.  Not a weapon.  A wind instrument made up of four pipes and a wind chest.  Maybe he will play it for us?

Well, he started story telling when he came to the tavern.  Maybe there will be music later.

After that a Dwarf Merchant, called Olon Matchmine, showed up.  And went to the tavern to listen to the story.

Seems the only people enjoying the tavern are visitors.  Hmmm.

Mid spring is almost over and we have migrants.  Goodie.  This time they came from the west and not the south.

The first is Feb Tubesroads.  A woodcrafter.  Not bad.  But weak.

The next migrant was his spouse, Kel Trusshatchets, who was a Craftsdwarf.  A brawler and disdained law.  A mixed bag, eh?

Then there was onul Stockadeway who was a Peasant.  Clumsy, poor focus, and bad witrh words.  Valued peace.  Not really soldier material.

At least I have enough bedrooms already.  Oh no....this means I have to make more bedrooms!  Oh well.

I made sure the married couple got two bedrooms.  You never know if there will be a falling out.  It is an outpost.  The frontier.  The GREAT UNKNOWN!  Marriages may not last the stress.  Or somebody may die.

But now we are 18 citizens.

Turn out the visiting Merchant likes to recite poetry and is pretty good at it.  The new migrants, on their way to checking out their bedrooms, ended up hearing some of it and being impressed.  Nothing like a good first impression.

Another human Bard has shown up.  A female named Sesta Colorchurch.  She seems to have a type of a string instrument.  Forty-six strings.  She went straight to the tavern.

And it turns out Sesta was so impressed that she wishes to reside in the outpost.  To be a enterainer.  And we do have one bedroom empty.

The Leader took it a sign of good luck and approved her Petition.  She will now live with us and now even has her own bedroom.  19 citizens now.

On the 23rd of Felsite the raptor eggs hatched.  Training should start soon once we pick a spot for ...well...training.  And they are old enough.

And another dwarf female Bard, named ingiz Racework, has shown up.  She also carried a wind instrument.  She went right to the tavern, of course, and seemed impressed by the tables.  Must not get out much.

She must have been very impressed as she gave the Leader a petition to stay and entertain the people.  The Leader turned her down.  We already have a entertainer and no bedrooms.

Summer has come.  At least the barracks is half roofed and the hospital has beds and tables.  But the temple is still being worked on.  The second room will likely end up having bedrooms.

Also any exposed rock surface near the buildings has been smoothed out and emgraved.  Making tiny pieces of artwork for the citizens as they walk around outside.  Maybe not as good as statues but they get the job done and won't block traffic.

In summer I will have to finish the temple and will likely have to start working on a road.  Likely a dirt road.  Maybe start on a library or a museum or whatever.  We need to enjoy life and not just survive.

Wish me well,

'Callisto'

isn't it amazing how LONG above-ground construction takes? it's one of the more realistic things about DF - years go by before even simple builds are finished, akin to the building processes of ancient temples or medieval churches or cathedrals.

Dwarf Fortress - Abbey of Blossoming - Chapter Nine

Dear Diary,

I decided to write a little about the third wave of migrants and on our new entertainer.  Well, Sesta is the Tavern Bard now I guess.

I found Feb Tubesroads working on the temple.  He seems to have skill as both a miner and as a carpenter.

He seems to enjoy this work and is already settling in.  Enjoyed the booze and entertainment in the tavern.

His wife, Kel Trusshatchets, was helping with the temple.  She too seemed to be happy with her fine bed, the food, and the performer we have allowed to live in the outpost.

And, of course, she is happy to be with her spouse.  I am just happy to see somebody working on the temple.

I found onul Stockadeway making a wooden pot.  Seems she know a little about animal training and woodcraft.  Maybe she will take my job as building designer?

She, like the rest of the migrants, seems happy with the outpost.  She has work, booze, food, and a place to sleep.

Sesta Colorchurch, from what I understand, is also a planter on top of being a performer.  She seems to be happy having a job, a bedroom, getting drunk, and even enjoyed watching the performance of others.  Likely one of the Bards before they left.

She has exttemely long, white, hair, and burnt umber colored skin.  Seems both male and female humans wear skirts.  Maybe it is a cultural thing?

From I understand she has a good memory, which makes sense, but also rude according to some of the others.  A rude performer?

Also seemed she liked to talk to herself.

Anyway, it seems everybody is settling.

I have been told that no dangerous animals have been spotted.  Only a weasel and a juravenator.  Which I have been told is a tiny feathered dinosaur who comes out at night.  It hunts bugs and small prey.  So, I hope, neither are going to attack me.

Wish me well,

Dwarf Fortress - Abbey of Blossoming - Chapter Ten

Dear Diary,

The Temple is still being worked on as summer starts.  And a human pikeman is visiting called Tura Raquisaning.  She went stright to the tavern and listened to poetry.  And yes, she has a pike.

From what I understand she has four lovers but only ONE child.

A human Poet approached from the west on the 10th Hematite.  Named Lum Dreamutter.  Of course we all know where he went.
The temple, while the roof was not yet complete, was named the Natures of Weakening and was made into a place of worship for no particular deity.

The Miners keep testing the ground, digging down, but keep finding wet rock or soil.  I think we may have to import stone.

On the 19th Hematite more migrants have appeared.  I haven't even finished the temple and there isn't any bedrooms.

The first was a Woodcrafter named Vabok Equalchanneled.  She was curious, fearless, and valued harmony.  Too bad she dismissed self-control, was weak and clumsy.  Luckly she was able to slip pass a male Triceratops.  Otherwise she might have been killed.

Luckily the dinosaur didn't seem interested in any of the new comers.

Then there was Kol Boatsound, her husband, who was a Fish Cleaner.  Which is good.  The fish ARE starting to pile up.  He had low willpower, depression-prone, and was bad with words.  So...not going to be a Broker or Noble.  Right?

Then there is Onget Granitebucks, a Peasant, who had high willpower, tough, and valued competition.  Oh ueah, into the military he goes.

On the 25th of Hematite one of the Triceratops attacked one of our Farmers as they were gathering fruits and stuff.  The squad was called out to kill it.  In fact we were told to hunt them all down.

All three were killed.  But at a cost.  We lost Sigun Godenamkin and Meng Kitasob.  Both were killed.  The horror!

I also ended up in the hospital along with the Militia Commander, Deler.  Seems she lost a lot of blood and her right hand is missing.  Ouch.

I tried to get some sleep but one of the male raptors decided to visit me.  AKA - sit on me.  What do they think they are?  Cats?

While I was in the hospital, wishing somebody would cut down a tree and make a bucket so they could giving me water, a human Dancer showed up.  Male named Tolis Meteladgi.

Of course he went to the tavern.

Also seems the Leader was trapped in a tree.  And the axes were not available as some of the soldiers prefered them to hammers.  So the Squad was disbanded.

And still nobody is cutting down any trees.  Oh boy.

Finally some, in mid summer, decided to start felling trees.  But by then I was sick of waiting and dragged myself to the taven to get a proper drink!

Then went to the kitchen to get some finger lime mash.  Made up of minced orange, minced Psarolepis, and finely minced finger line.  Yes, sounds horrible but I was FRIGGING hungry!

Then I went and made a masterpiece bucket!  Nobody will get thirsty again in the damn hospital!

By the 12th of Galena we had two visitors.  One was a human Maceman named Ac Ithbiescu.  The other more interesting.  A Goblin Bowman named Cudal Irosmoma.  A female.

And yes, both went to the tavern.  Where the Maceman, who was a male ape, starting telling tall tales and everybody listened.

The only complaint about the tavern is the food stockpile has no food in it.  Only drinks.  That has been corrected.  Or, at least the Leader has ordered food to be stored in the tavern.

With the military disbanded I wend back to wearing my normal clothing and enjoyed my normal duties.

Then  autumn came.  Yet the temple is finished as are the bedrooms above.  Kind of, they still need roofs.  And walls.  And beds.  But you get the idea!

Oh, wait.  With the two deaths there may be two bedrooms available.

And let us hope the traders will bring STONE!

Wish me well,

Dwarf Fortress - Abbey of Blossoming - Chapter Eleven

Dear Diary,

Funny enough it seems the new arrivals claimed the empty bedrooms already.  So we're good.  We'll have extra bedrooms by the time the second flood of the temple building is done.

And I am feeling pretty.  At least the last time I got wounded we had a proper hospital and doctor to check me out.  Males like scars on females, right?

The Leader has debated removing Deler of her position as Militia Commander due to her lack of a right hand.

Sadly, nobody is as skilled as she is.  And it has been decided to allow her to continue as the commander as, even without the hand, she can still train and fight.  Kind of.

And another visitor, a Speardwarf named Goden Salvefinger, is in the tavern.  Seems he is curious about the Sword-Woman.  At least that is what HE says.

On the 16th of Limestone the traders from Olin Nonub were spotted.  Along with the liaison.  I wonder if they brought the stone?  The Leader ordered the many crutches we made to the Depot!  As well as some of the bone crafts we have produced.

Once again the Leader asked for stone.  This time the liaison asked her for the export of tools.

While this was happening Onget Granitebucks, a Peasant, has reported to the hospital.  He seems to be having trouble just lifting and carrying things.  The missing right hand likely has to do with that.  But both arms are heavily scarred and that might be the issue also.

They have brought us stone!  Lots of it!  Wonderful.  We now need a place to put it all.

Also...they brought nothing else.  Just stone.  And we have a huge amount of wooden crutches.  We'll keep them for next time.

Seems somebody killed a Sinosauropteryx.  Not even sure what that is.

On the 25th of Limestone we finally have a working Quern!  Thank the traders for bringing us REAL stone!

And the Leader had created another military.  Called the Barricaded Horns.  Wow, horns?  Really?  And guess who is back in the Squad?  Me of course.

The Leader has also ordered a Mechanic's Workshop made.  Now we have stone we can start thinking about more advanced tools.  Machinery to be honest.

On the 5th of Sandstone a human Bard, called Atthem Plottedpants, has approached the Hamlet.  I assume he will head right for the tavern.

But I have been told he looks...different...from other humans.  He wears trousers instead of a skirt.  And he has copper colored hair.  He most come from another part of the world than the other apes..er...humans.

Yes, we are a Hamlet now.

I fear the kids are not doing any better lately.  I fear that they will become bitter adults.

Well, at least we have proper tombstones for the graves.  The last one was put up by Nish and it was for her mother Id.

Oh no.  It is the 3rd of Timber.  And we have new arrivals.  A LOT of new arrivals.

So...let us go through the list.  There was Tekkud Coalwealth.  A Gem Cutter.  She is going to be so bored.  She is tough and artistically inclined.  But has no empathy.

Then there is Urvad Lancerbeaches.  A Leatherworker.  He loves to brawl and is a quarreler.  Great.

Well, at least we have a Woodcrafter named Uvash Blockedrelic.  We have lots of wood.

Then there is Fikod Walldoor who is a Cook.  Who is Clumsy.  Great.  Hope he is okay with fire and knives.

There is also a Miller named Kadol Youthlabors.  Who is said to be single minded and sickly.  Wonderful.

A new Planter named Dastot Rampartamber.  Which is good.  We could always use more help with the farming plots.

There is also a Potash Maker named Dodok Portalhood.  Who has low self esteem.  Well, it might get lower when he finds out we don't make potash right now.

And last is Sodel Gulfsmiths who is a Pump Operator.  She is tough and values POWER!  Great.  What we need.  A fight over who is in charge!

The migrants found the pit we're digging.  To try to get to stone.  It is a way to try to get past the damp stone.  We hope.  I think they plan to wall off the damp walls as they go deeper down.

I shoved more beds and chests into the new bedrooms and now have five I could assign to the new comers.  Still need a few bedrooms.  Maybe the third floor?

And the new comers brought a cow and a baby velociraptor.

The idiots.  The folks digging the pit decided to dig under some of the others.  Instead of digging DOWNWARDS some of them started at the lower level.

The idiots survived, went to wash off in the hospital with the brand new WORKING well....then went back to the pit.

The Leader ordered them to dig out the soil from the top down this time.  Water is already leaking in.

Also I asked the Miners to dig out more underground space for more storage.

And the bees are Melittophex bees.  Not sure what that means but that's what I have been told.

On the 19th of Timber another Bard showed up.  A male dwarf named Kadol Guardcrypt.  Went straight to the tavern and started chatting with some of the others.

Then another Bard, a human, named Fatab Kadestguki.  And, of course, she went right to the tavern.

In fact on the 21st the human Bard asked to become a resident.  On one hand we already HAVE a human Bard.  On the other hand the female Bard we have did all the work on building the well.  So the humans are not lazy.  And with new bedrooms being made....I suggested to the Leader to say yes.  And she did.

So we have a NEW Bard!

I've just been told the Doctor, ushrir Edosastesh, has been missing for a week.  Oh no.  What happened.  Badger attack?  Trapped in a tree?  Who knows....

The NEW Chief Medical Dwarf is now the Miller, Kadol, who will take over.

Winter is there.  The third floor of the temple is almost roofed in and all the bedrooms have been assigned to the new comers.  The hospital is now complete.  But the ex-Doctor's body has not yet been found.

And the new Bard seems to be singing.  Maybe a song about winter?

At least we have a ton of drinks.  Though, to be honest, some of the folks seem to be grumpy after having the tea.  It seems to make them hyper without getting them drunk.  Why invent such a drink?  I bet it was the Elves.

And we did butcher some of the adult pigs.  As they have had more piglets.  And I think we have some baby goats too.  So cheese and pork has been added to the menu.

Wish me well,

'Callisto'

Dwarf Fortress - Abbey of Blossoming - Chapter Twelve

Dear Diary,

Okay, winter is here.  But there is a debate happening among the citizens that I figured I should write down.

It has been pointed out that while the Tavern, the Sword-Woman, is a great place to drink and talk and sing it isn't really a great place to eat.  Nobody has moved any of the FOOD to the tavern and when people get hungry they head off to the storage areas and eat right out of the barrels or wooden pots.  Yuck.

Not that we use plates.....but still.  Think of all the hair and backflow into the food?  Double yuck.

So it had been suggested I may wish to design a proper dining area with tables, chairs, and a large food stockpile.  With just food and some drinks.

Talking about food we seem to have a lot of it.  I'll paste the menu into the diary so you can see what we have available.

So, now I need to build a dining area and, likely, more bedrooms.  And continue to help the Miners work on the pit.  We want stone so badly.  I think we need stone pots to make..what they call coffee.  Otherwise the grounded up beans just end up in the food.

There is also talk of a museum, a library, a proper jail.  So much work!

Wish me well,

'Callisto'

I was severely confused reading your list until I recalled there were modded dinosaurs kicking about your forests. it seems the dwarves are significantly more than capable of killing and eating such beasts. coffee and roast dino anyone?

I wonder how the dwarves will feel about coffee when they get to drink it?

First, we now have coffee.  I figured out how to get them to stop cooking the grounds and brew them.  As some of them don't seem to like the tea I don't think they will like the coffee?  But maybe some will.  And maybe the humans or goblins will like it?

Second, from what I can tell most of the animals on the menu are not dinosaurs.  But they are interesting creatures.  Two are fish, one of the fish is armoured, and one creature is a reptile that lives in rivers.  I guess when the folks go fishing they caught these guys.

Which means some of the salads are kind of like tuna fish salads.  We have eggs so maybe mayo?  And some of the stew are just fish stews.

Not sure about the reptile cakes.  Meat cakes?

Maybe you could change the fort into a coffee shop if the visitors like it more than the dwarves.

Dwarf Fortress - Abbey of Blossoming - Chapter Thirteen

Dear Diary,

Lots to write about.  First off as you know the Tavern has been named the Sword-Woman and the Temple, the only Temple, is named the Natures of Weakening.  But I found out the Hospital is named the House of Creation.  Which is somewhat alarming.

So, first off a Albertosaurus showed up at the river.  It looked kind of scrawny.  Maybe it smelled food and was coming to explore the settlement?

Well, the Squad was sent out and it died preetty quickly.  It went down like a tree being well...chopped down.

Then somebody noticed a body in one of the ponds near the gathering region of the forest on the 2nd of Moonstone.

It was the Ex-Doctor.   I guess he fell out of a tree or got pushed into the pond?  Was he murdered?

A memorial slab has been ordered to be made.  Also there are plans to drain the pond.

Then a day later a Cave Fish Man Merchant appeared from the west.  Naked and blind to boot.  This should be interesting.

It also seems somebody brewed the ground coffee beans.  And then, somehow, make cakes out of the super hot brewed coffee beans.....how?

So the Leader told them to stop that and by the 7th of Moonstone we have 30 units of Brewed Arabica Coffee.  Finally.  Sounds horrible to me.

Anyway, starting building a dining area over the barracks.  A kitchen has been built into it so that people can be served food hot from the oven.

And there are reports that one of those horned devils are back.  The same one that wounded Onget.  Of course, the Barricaded Horns...I hate that name...was called out to assemble outside the tavern.  We would go, in mass, to attack the creature named...it has no name yet.

Some Triceratops have been given names for their murderuous actions.  This one...just wounded people.

Once ready we were sent to kill it.  I hope....

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Okay, this is the Leader.  Callisto is dead.  So is Onget, Vabok, and Deler.  The remaining member of the squad was told to withdraw.  We are rethinking how to deal with the damn horned devils.  Maybe traps?

The Herbalist, onul, ran into the damn thing while trying to recover the bodies.  So SHE had to be recovered and taken to the hospital.

And I have selected some more dwarves to fill in the hospital staff.

I have ordered more graves dug.  We also need more stone for memorial slabs.

At least the Cave Fish Man Merchant seems to be happy in the tavern.

On the 22nd Moonstone we found Ducim, a Farmer, dead.  Drowned.  HOW?!?!  Right near the Ex-Doctor's body.  I am moving the Gathering area.

Right, I have set up four regions, none near water, for gathering fruits and such.

Oh by the tree loving elves!  One of the Woodcrafters, Feb, has been taken by a strange mood.  Not happy about that.  Seems he has claimed a Craftsdwarf's Workshop.  Problem.  He seems to need a stone block.  I don't think we have any stone left!

We have no stone left.  He is going to go crazy.  We'll have to kill them.  Damn it.  I made a small squad, including myself as the commander, called the Ferocious Coal.  Just in case.

The shareholders are going to be pissed about all the citizens who had died.  Looks bad on the public relationship newsletter.

On the 13th of Opal a human dancer named Osman Wavyspirit has shown up.  Who is 86 years old.  Must be very skilled.

Also much of the lower pit is full of water.  We may have to try digging another one somewhere else.  We need stone.

Also it had been announced that we also have something called Green Tea on top of Yerba Mate Tea and Arabica Coffee.  Seems Kol Boatsound, the Fisherdwarf, drinks the coffee.  Seems he really likes it.  Almost like its booze.  Wild.

Why can't the citizens put the dead bodies of their fellow dwarves in their tombs?  Too many things to do?  Maybe.

Oh, and we have a visiting human Lasher.  Called Thon Throwbowl.

He has handed me a Petition after visiting the tavern.  He wants to be a soldier.

I approved.  And added him to the squad.  We need soldiers.  And we have a few empty bedrooms at this point.

Also another human showed up shortly afterwards.  Artuk Nongospib.  Another human dancer.  Callisto would be proud on how the tavern seems to be drawing visitors.

I have also selected the Engraver, Etur, as our Messenger.  I am sending him to the nearest Elven settlement.  If they notice us they may trade with us.  We just have to threaten them first.  Demand wealth or something like that.

I have selected the Eleven Retreat of Visesister.  They have a populace of about a hundred.

Funny enough he refused to go.  Said he had to be a Militia Captain or something like that.  Guild Laws he said.

So I made him a Captain and sent him off.  He is now the Figures of Twisting.  Hey, I just pick the names out of thin air.  Blame the Gods.

As the new Captain left a Poet arrived.  Urdim Bootsplashes.  A fine lookling male Dwarf.  Maybe he'll ask to join us?

The pump we tried to drain the pond with the dead comrades in it failed.  Just flooded the area instead of dumping the water into the next pond.  We'll have to rethink the whole thing.

While this was happening a WHOLE performance troupe, the Tactical Twigs, arrived. They are ALL elves!!!!  About eight of them.

On top of that Urdim submited a Petition.  I will approve it.  We have empty bedrooms and need more hands to lighten the work load.

The Captain Etur had returned!  Looks like we made contact with them and we're at peace with them.  They refused to give us tribute.  But, maybe, they will trade with us next year?

Oh boy.  The tavern is full of humans and elves!

And another Poet has been spotted.  A female dwarf named Unib Ravenrock.  And she seems not inclined to create art.   What?  And a loner.

Oh no.  A human Bard and a Goblin Bard have shown up also!  The Tavern is becoming crowded!

Ravenrock has turned in a Petition.  I approved it of course.  She is kind of old but another pair of hands is another pair of hands.

One of the Human Bard, one of the females, has also asked to join the Hamlet.  I'm going to approve Mistrum's request.  But only because we have a empty bedroom.

There was another Petition but we don't have any more room so I turned it down.

It is late winer.  We're going to try to drain the pond again.  Into underground chambers.  Not sure if it will work or not.

Another human Bard has shown up.  Wow, folks love our tavern.

Oh no.  More visitors.  I am not even going bother listing them anymore.  And all future Petitions will be turned downl.

Feb has given up the workshop.  It seems he has been stricken by melancholy.  Or at least that is what the witnesses say.  In other words he has gone insane.  At least he isn't attacking anybody.  Or damaging anything.

Yet.

The pump was started and is filling the underground chambers.  The dwarf who started it fell into the pond a couple of times.  The Pump Operator Sodel seems to know how to swim.  She is a Novice Swimmer.  She's a keeper.

Oh, the tavern has a visiting Baron Consort.  Who is a male Goblin.  Seems to be socializing and getting along with everybody.

And a Goblin Brewer has also shown up.  Interesting.

I have ordered the adult chickens all butchered.  The chicks are about to become adults and we need the room.

The pumping seemed to work.  The bones of dead were reachable.  But nobody bothered to grab THEM!  Now the underground chamber is full of water.  Why are my citizens so lazy and stupid?!?!

All the chicks have become adults and started fighting each other.  I ordered more than half to be butchered.

We dug out more underground chambers, worked the pump, and finally recovered the two piles of bones.  Though I fear there are still tools and such in the pond.  I have ordered the pump to be dismanated.  But maybe I can find a way to use it in the pit?

And the other bodies are also finally being recovered.  Hopeful they are put in the tombs before we start getting ghosts.

The horn devils have shown up but havn't killed anybody.  And Spring has come.  It is the year 252.  I will close and seal Callisto's notes.  And sent it with my report along with the inventory on our stock and the list of citizens.

Just wish the male elves would put on shirts or something.

I don't remember.  I remember the mom was beheaded and her head ended up a few squares away from the body.  I assumed it was a strike with the horns.  But I can't look back because the game does not keep announcements.  Next time I have to take screenshot to show.

This is a report that covers the Spring of 252.

First, I turned down another Petition from one of the human dancers.  We have no bedrooms available.

A few days later a naked human, named Artuk Flickerskin who claimed to be a Merchant, arrived to visit the Sword-Woman.  It is easy to see he is male.

Seems one of the visiting Bards is also his uncle.  Which is why he may of heard of the tavern.  Maybe?

On the 11th of Granite a elven caravan from Calovi Rava had arrived.  Seems our demand to them has worked.  Now to make sure no wood goods is sent to the Trade Depot.

I call forth all bone crafts to be traded.  I hope, in return, to see if we can get more fruits or maybe interesting animals for breeding.

Damn it...they were unwilling to trade.  Seems they are offended by bones as while as wood.  Forget this.  I am seizing all their stuff.  And they left without putting up a fight.

Not only did we get a lot of useful, and useless, items.  Mostly fruit and a few musical items.  But we also picked up a weasel, which I have put up for adoption, but also a Giant Lion Tamarin. Which will be buthered.

More Bards are visiting.  The tavern has become really busy and I had to turn down a lot of Petitions.

On the 28th of Granite there was a lot of noise to the northwest.  Looks like a Triceratops got into a fight with a Sinosauropteryx and is now in the water.  I am not sure if it can swim or if it will drown.  It seems it dodged a attack by the smaller animal and went right into the stream.

Dangerous animals but the horned devils are as dumb as trees.  It is like a elephant being scared of a rooster.

We had some interesting visitors during the start of Slate.  Including a Serpent Man, named Dod Smumxuoxo, who was a Merchant.

More fighting between the horned Triceratops and the tiny predator.  The tiny Sinosauropteryx was mutilated by the larger animal.  But the thing is still trapped in the water.  I am not sure how long it can last that way.

Oh, on the 16th of Slate it was pointed out to me that now we have TWO types of coffee.  Arabica and Robusta.  Good times.

Well, Feb has been found dead.  Went sober and dehydrated himself to death.   How sad.  Right outside the tavern walls.  Well, we have lots of graves ready.

Idiots.  They only buried part of Callisto's corpse and now we have a ghost.  They will have to do it again!

And she was put to rest finally.  Funny, she just seemed to hang around the new kitchen workshop in the new dining room. She didn't do anything bad.  I guess she was micromanging the cooks?

Of course imgrants had to show up in laste spring.  At least we have bedrooms being made.  And at least maybe an old one available somewhere?

So to list them all.  There was Zon Sealveiled, a male Stoneworker.  Touugh with high stamia.  He is going to be so bored.

There is a female named Zuntir Realmgilt who is a Mason.  Seems to be good with languages and has a high social awareness.  Also envious and humorless.  Great.

There is a Armorer named Imush Glovesdrings who is clumsy and disdains knowledge.  Wonderful.  I made him the new Broker.

There is a female Clothier named Udib Silverproblem who disdains craftwork and is anger-prone.  Oh perfect.

There is female Clerk named Urdim Ringedroots who I made the Book Keeper because it seems she was a Master Record Keeper.  I gave her a chair and table in the dining room as her office.

There was an Animal Caretaker named erith Keyvalley.  Who was weak and frail.  How can he handle the animals then?

Then there is a Peasant named Moldath Manorcounselled.  Strong if clumsy.  Not sure where to put him.

There was also Onget Blotsack, a male Woodcutter.  And his spouse Kulet Gleamabbey.  A Furnace Operator.  As we do plan to have a wood furnace that's not a bad worker to have.

There is also the Miner named Asen Castledaub.  And his spouse Olon Risenquakes.  A Dyer.

There is also a Metalcrafter named Litast Fencetold who is proud, cheerful, and ungrateful?  She isn't going to be happy when she finds we don't have any metal industy yet.

A female Gem Cutter named Dum Wardtowers.  Not many bad traits.   So off to the military?

Then a Craftsdwarf named Reg Workglories.  She is tough but also has poor spatial sense.

And a Woodcraft named Uvash Blockedrelic who disdained leisure time, tradition, and merriment.  Please, please, please, stop sending us your trashy citizens!

Plus three children.  And a juvenile Utahraptor, a chick, a water buffalo calf, a juventile Troodon, a juventile Compsognathus, and a llama.

So I tossed a few into the squads to give them something to do besides complain when they found out how horrible it is here.  Also picked one of them to be the Broker.

So I am trying to use the water pump to empty half of the pit into the other half of the pit.

Then a Honey Badger showed up.  Why?  Was it heading towards the tavern?  I ordered all squads to go after it!  Oh, some of the elfs and even some of the humans joined in.

Funny enough it ran into the river and, somehow, shoved out or scared off the horned devil.    As it seemed injured the chase has been called off.  I don't want a bunch of tired warriors running into any other dangerous animals.

On the 14th of Felsite one of the children, Urdim, was killed by the horned devil.  We were better off when it was in the river.  We need to kill it but we don't have the equipment or skilled soldiers to do it.

Damn it.  The honey badger is in the trade depot!  I sent the squads out again!  Just to chase it off.

Oops.  It run into the settlement and got ganged up on.  The honey badger is dead.

One of the kids, Zuglar Lancerwashes, is in the hospital.  Not sure how she was injured.  But her left upper arm was cut open and her left hand was bruised.  As long as she gets some rest and the medical staff works on her things should turn out okay.

I keep getting reports about fighting.  Mostly among the guests.  But I never seem to get there in time to figure out what it going on or who started it.

Okay, the horned devil is causing too much trouble.   I am going to assemble the squads NEAR it and then try to attack it in mass.

Well, I had to dismiss that plan and order the soldiers into attacking it right away.  The idiot settlers were attacking it on sight while the warriors were still assembling.  I am not sure how many will die.  Pray I survive.

I am amazed.  Two of the soldiers approached the horned dino and somehow killed it.  It is DEAD!

And Reg, a Craftdwarf, has been taken by a mood and claimed a Craftsdwarf's Workshop.  And she started building something.  Well, at least she won't go insane.

It is the 24th of Felsite.  We almost have one side of the pit walled off.  And Kulet finished making...well...looks like a crown.  A mahogany crown.

I guess it is okay.

So, we finally hit a level of stone that isn't damp.  We also have four bedrooms next to the dining area.

And are making more over the temple.  One of those bedrooms without walls kind of things.  At least they will have a bed, a place to store their outfits, and a roof.

And we need more temples.  People are complaining.  They want pray to certain Gods or Goddesses.  Picky.

We also have more adult war raptors and we have expanded on the bee hives.  Too bad about the stress and the murdered citizens.

So, to summerize, we have killed a horned devil, we had a ghost, we robbered from the elfs, we have a bunch of new settlers, and we have TWO types of coffee now.  And we have a populace of 46 citizens.  And we may have stone now.

This is a report that covers the Summer of 252.

The Miners have started digging out, what we hope, is safe and dry tunnels.  We had to dig down another level to finally find dry stone.  And some limonite.  Which is nice.

Also another horned devil is causing trouble again.  We need stone to help use make traps.  Cage traps.

On the 9th of Hematite I was alerted to the fact that the body of Nich Likotakman's body has been sighted in the river.  On one hand that is horrible.  On the other hand she was a miserible little kid and the world is better off without her.

There was also some bones nearby.  We assume they are the remains of a animal.  As we don't think anybody else is missing.  I assume the kid was killed by one of the horned devils.  Or pushed in by one of the settlers.

We may have to make a memorial slab for her.  We will unlikely be able recover the body.  We will try.  But getting a corpse out of a pond is one thing.  Getting a corpse out of running water...

We finished making a Wood Furnace and I have ordered the building of a Metalsmith's Forge and a Kiln.  We have a lot of clay, wood, and now iron ore.  So why not?

And I also ordered they build a Smelter.  Almost forgot that.  Haha...

On the 19th of Henatite a skull totem of one of the Triceratops was put on display.  To show that the horned devils could be killed.  To be honest we have killed a few of them.

And I have ordered at least one cage trap in the southeast where they seem to like to hang out.  I will likely order cage traps in certain areas AWAY from the buildings where they like to run about.

I have also order a clay statue to be made and some ore to be melted down and turned into iron.

And, of course, right when things are going well, on the 5th of Malachite we have migrants.

Why!  WHY!  Oh well....

The first to come over the western horizon was Kogan Shortwheel.  A male Furnace Operator.  Who...we need.  That's lucky.  He is patient and recovers quickly.

And after that was two children.  Wait...his kids.  Why are families coming here?

After that came Iton Pillarbulbous a female Armorer.  Who was stroing and had high stamina.  And a accomplished armorsmith.  Good.

Then there is a Gem Cutter, a female, named Asmel Chambershade.  We don't have a gem workshop yet.  But the more we dig the more likely we will find stones that could be cut into gems.  We'll see.

Then there was a Peasant named Tulon Clodmined.  Hauling it is!

And then there was a female Carpenter named Cog Lizardlashed.  I assume her parents hated her.

There was also a Gem Setter named Asmel Staffclapper.  I think him, and the Gem Cutter, will be asked to help in the mining.

And a male Trapper named Lokum Lenswill.  As we have started to put out traps this is a good thing.  Maybe I am wrong to complain?

They also brought a juvenile Deinonychus.  A pet named Sarvesh Roastedcity.

And we have iron bars.  I am thinking maybe swords and mail shirts.  At first.  To replace the leather armour for some of our soldiers.

Well...this is weird to write down.  On the 19th of Malachite we were visited by a Spinosaur Woman Bard named Rithod Blamelessbewitched.  I am not so sure about this visitor.  Something about the name bothers me.

And on the 21st she asked to reisde in the Village and I said yes.  Call me crazy but think of the draw having a dinosaur Bard!  Think of the press!

And it finally happened.  The Amethyst Fellowship has demanded a Temple and a Priest.  I have agreed.  Because, to be honest, I plan to cheat.  I plan to make the Temple in the mines so it can be made of stone.  Smoothed out, engraved, and even have iron doors.  Stone tables, chairs, and maybe a statue or two.

Also we noticed a corpse in one of the ponds.  Belonging to Oda Wamaelifa.  I had a underground chamber dug out next to it.  The idea being we could make a water pump next to it, drain the water into the underground chamber, and get at the body.  How had the Elf Poet end up in a pond?

I then ordered the water pump to be dismantled to be moved to the pond.  And....that left a hole in the wall.  We had to make a wall for the hole in the wall to keep the second pit, which was full of water, from flooding the mines.

This blocked the ramps to get out of the mines so another tunnel had to be made to already existing stairway.  One of the stairs used to probe the soil.

On the 10th of Galena I received a Petition from a troupe, the Razors of Affection, to reside in the Village.  I accepted.  I think it was only one human.  Still, we now have 56 in the Village.  We better get some of those beds finished.  Or started on!

And the clay statue I asked for has finally been finished and put in the tavern.  Oh...it turned out better than I thought it would.

And early Autumn has come.

So we have working mines and are working on a temple.  And more beds.

Plus a small iron industry.  And clay crafts can also be made.  Along with wax.  No mead yet. And Gems are now being cut and so on.

And we have lots to drink.  Also the food is around 1261 units.  Which is enough to feed our populace for...well, for awhile anyway.

And a dinosaur Bard!  Don't forget that!

I have also been thinking about if we get future soldiers.  I do have bows...and can forge mail and weapons for humans, goblins, and even elves.  If need be.

While we have killed some of the dinos we have not been able to butcher them.  Once we get a few into our cage traps, and tame them, then we can butcher them and maybe get leather.  We'll see.

This is a report that covers the Autumn of 252.

So, I have made two decisions.   One the dining room will be turned into a tavern JUST for the Villagers.  In other words, citizens and long-term residenets will be the only ones allowed to use the Helmed Belly.

And Fikod Adiltun, the Cook, skilled liar and conversationalist was appointed the Tavern Keeper.

Two, that the stray wassel that we took from the elves should be released from his date palm wooden cage.  So a lever has been made and will be used, once linked, to release him.   If we can figure out how to link it to the cage.

Also, bad news, Urvad Lancerbeaches has been taken over by a unknown force.  And seems to have claimed a workshop.  The Leather Works I have been told.

I have mixed feelings about this.  Oh, and he is making something.  So he must have found all the material he needed to make....whatever he is making.

I accepted the Petition of another human soldier.  Named Bekdil Dofbithar.  A Axeman.  He will join his fellow human in the Ferocious Coal.

It is the 9th of Limestone and the caravan from Olin Nonub has arrived as has the outpost liaison.

Also I have ordered the wassel to be butchered and eaten.  I can't figure how to link the lever to the cage but I figure a hungry dwarf can figure out how to open any cage.

I've ordered some of our bone crafts and wooden items to the Trade area.  And some of our toys.

I told the outpost liaison Rimtar we don't really need anything imported.  But it seems the Homemountains want armor and....cheese.  I don't really want to know what kind of fetish they have developed back home but I will order some leather armor and maybe iron armor made.

They brought us stone.  I should of figured.  So I decided to give them our goods as a gift.

Funny I can't seem to offer them anything.  Anytime I try to pick something to give them it is no longer a gift.  Weird.  Anyway I traded our stuff for stone.  Feels like a waste but what can you do?

While this was going on the crazy Urvad finally finished making....a chicken leather head veil.  I need a drink.

Also trying to figure out how to get the damn body out of the river.   Oh, and the dead elf we got out of the pond had a book.  Interesting.  We may set up a small library.  Very small.

Also, migrants.  Oh well.  List time.

First there was Bomrek Ringcribe a male Bowyer.  Who was tough, orderly, and had a good memory.

There was also Ast Honorrooms a male Pump Operator.  How many of those do we have now?

Then there was the female Wood Burner Aban Craftclear.  Who was a brawler with low stamina?!?!  Intertesting.

There was also a Armorer who was named Stukos Vesselfins.  He was...oh boy.  Impatient, had poor intuition and low stamina.

There was also Shem Boulderislands.  A male Wax Worker.  Who was tough but disdained cunning and peace.  And was bad with words.  Lovely.

There was a female Woodcrafter named Morul Claspsoothed who was weak and greedy.

Then there was Vutok Roeptorch a female Gem Cutter.  Who was also bad with words and anger-prone.

There was also Dobar Cobaltroared a male Leatherworker.  Who was Dutiful and Shameless?

Now we have 65 villagers.  Funny enough they brought no pets.

We were finally able to gift a few items to the Merchants.  Seems only items made in the Village could be sent as gifts.  My bad.

After that the Broker was told to go do something else.  The traders have nothing else we want.  Maybe next year we can get something interesting.  As I have asked for nothing special they should bring a mixture of goods.

Also assigned the older raptors we came with to warriors.  Two to dwarfs and two to the human warriors.

Everytime we try to get the kid's bones out of the river somebody almost drowns!  I am making a bridge right next to the pump.  Maybe next time they will end up on the bridge and not in the water.  Hint - they still get pushed into the water because the idiots use the bridge when the pump is in action.

On the other hand we now have a library and Zuntir was named a Scholar.  Well, we made a hallway into a library.  But it works.  I do wish they would stop undressing and dumping their worn clothing.  Could we go one season without finding somebody's pants on the floor?

Also we have the dead elf's book.

We also have a Soap making shop.  But nobody seems to know what is needed to carry the lye?  Do we need a jug or bucket?  Why can't these idiots use words?  Just tell me they need a bucket.  And what IS lye?  We don't have lye.  I think.

Oh, it is Mid-Autumn and the caravan is getting ready to go.

I also noticed buckets everywhere.  But they are full of water.  Water gone bad.  Why can't they just empty those buckets and use them?  Must I think of everything!

Also I have named the future temple for the Amethyst Fellowship the Church of Avalanches.  The workers are STILL working on it.  But it also has two iron doors and a coffer.  We just have to toss in some tables, chairs, maybe a place to worship.  Then pick a priest.

I have also decided to fill out the squads with those that have skills while ordering a selection of iron weapons for them to pick from.  And the taverns need Performers and the library needs a janitor...er..Scribe.

The second tavern has been renamed the Berries of Lashing.  We had to rezone it.

Ordered the building of a proper Bowyer's Workshop and another Still.  I want to make sure we have plently to drink.  And we already have two Kitchens.

And FINALLY one of the Villagers, Captain Etur, went hunting.  Which reminds me we need a target area for the crowbow soldiers to practice.  I order one made on the roof.  The sun will do them good.

It is the 9th of Sandstone and the traders are finally leaving.  Next time may they bring us many fruits, animals, and maybe a book or two.

Well, the idiot Captain ran out of bolts for his crossbow and we now have a wounded Parasaurolopus running around JUST outside the Village.  So I have ordered one of the squads to finish it off.  I HOPE they can handle a seriously wounded and tired overside duck.

They killed it and I built a Butcher shop next to it on the hopes SOMEBODY might cut up the new corpse?

Also there are more reports of some of the Hunters going after the duckbills.  And one of them ran into a horned devil.  Why?  Why do they always go after the dangerous ones!

On the 3rd of Timber, late Autumn, Meng the Carpenter was made into a Performer for the Church of Avalanches.  He was a member of the Fellowship.  At this point the worshipers agreed that the Temple looked good and a true priest, given the title of Holy Silver, needed to be picked.  I selected the Miner, Asen, to be the Holy Silver.

And one of the duckbills have finally gotten into one of the cage traps.  I have sent the dino Bard to tame it.  So we can butcher it!    And building the butcher shop next to the other dead Parasaurolophus worked.  Dino on the menu!

And one of the Hunters is going after a Carbonemys.  A big turtle from what I understand.

Lots of them running around.  The Hunters wound them but rarely finish them off.  I had to send out the soldiers a few times to kill the wounded things.  And collect all the iron bolts.

We HAVE had a few issues.  The raptors keep fighting each other.  I had their underground pen expanded.  I figure it is a issue of too many animals in too small a space.

Also one of the Woodcutters had a little accident.  Seems they cut down a tree in which some of the logs got trapped in the branches of a nearby tree.  When THAT tree was cut down the logs came down and hit the ground with so much force the Woodcutter was tossed a few feet through the air.  In other words there were explosions.  Don't worry about the Woodcutter.  They were knocked out for a few moments but outside of shock and lungs full of dust they survived with little damage to themselves.  Outside of their pride.

Still, we need some classes on proper ax usage.

So, winter has come.  And a male human named Cika Vigorprince is visiting the publice tavern.  He announed he was a Human Criminal...I didn't realize that was a job among the humans.  Seems to be wearing a skirt and a tunic.  And is crying at the moment.  To be honest none of my business.

The second tavern, which is for villagers only, has been given a grown custard apple ilifa.  In other words a huge stationary stringed instrument.  You play it with a bow.

We also put a Triceratops bone crossbow on display.  Once againm to remind our citizens who rules this place.  We do!

Also any space we can place a bed in has become a shared bedroom space.  I am not joking.  Folks are walking on beds.  Some of the beds with other folks in them.

Besides the new Jeveler Workshop and Soap Maker's Shop I have also ordered a second Carpenter's Workshop and have ordered the outside Butcher Shop removed.  Things were too far away from either of the kitchens and things were going rotten.  I have also ordered more underground storage to be dug out.

Still we have plenty of hen egg stews and platters, pig lung platters, many types of fish stews, pig kidney mash, pastries, quiche, buns, meat cakes and other items to make our citizens happy.  Along with our many types of booze nobody should go without drink or a meal.

So, I have been asked to send some information for the shareholders about the citizens, livestock, and current visitors and wild animals in the region.

I guess I'll write up the data and add it to the winter package.

As you can see most of the citizens are doing...okay.  Some are upset.  But we're doing okay.  Also with all the humans we might need to start making clothes that fit them.

The next list will be livestock.

Please remember that as I write some of those animals are being sent to the Butcher.

Now, as for the visitors and wild animals, I can show a list but I doubt it is very helpful.

Due to one of them SAYING they are a criminal I am thinking we may need a Sheriff soon.  And a new Messenger.  It would be nice to have more traders.  Maybe humans?  And we may need more squads to keep people busy also.

Also, if you hear any rumors of somebody puking...I'm trying to figure out who is going about doing it.  And the blood is mostly from all the wild animals.  So if anybody complains about that via letters home...ignore it.

This report that covers the Winter of 252.

It had been brought to my attention that while the Sword-Woman has a Tavern Keeper and a Performer while the two tavern which is now named the Butters of Paging - yes it had been renamed for a second time - had TWO Tavern Keepers.  So a new Tavern Keeper was selected, Vutok, who is known as a adept conversationalists and a proficient consoler.  The new Perfomer was also selected.  Kulet, the Speardwarf, knowns how to play the strings.  So the perfect pick.

Though the records still show three Tavern Keepers?  Wha....where is the third tavern?

Nevermind.  This season I plan to start working on a windmill, making a road in the inner courtyard, making more bedrooms, and temples.  Oh, and maybe a jail.

And everyone is joining a Squad.  So we now have the Distinct Handles, the Crested Silvers, the Noble Cudgels, and the Helmed Scales.  On top of the Ferocious Coal and the Figures of Twisting.  Now everybody will train.  On and off.  They may, at least, get some exercise and learn how to swing a weapon.  Maybe build up some muscles.

Not to sound insulting but some of the Villagers are pretty lazy, weak, thin, and...they need to work out.

I decided to make the Militia Captain ushrir, of the Helmed Scales, as the new Messenger.  As if he goes on a mission he, and two other warriors, will go off by themselves.  Instead of about ten warriors which we might need.

And I have just been notified that the Captain of the Figures of Twisting, Etur Momuzilid, who is also the Messenger, has been elected the Mayor.  And now he wants a study, dining room, and a lot of stuff.  Oh well.  More building to do.

So I told the NEW Messenger to go to the human Masterthrown to demand tribute.  After taking the other two soldiers and assigning them to the Ferocious Coal.  They had some empty position.  So I hope to get human traders.  And not start a war.

Huh.  The Mayor has demanded we made three bracelets.  So I have ordered the creation of three bracelets.  Of bone.  We have lots of that.

And it looks like the bee hives finally produced enough honey to make mead!  Which the Bone Doctor drank down before it even reached either of the taverns.

The Messenger is back.  Looks like he totally failed.  So I demanded he go to Stokedsanctums.  This time he better get them to do something!

And he is back.  And he reports we have contacted the Union of Trances, a human civilization.  Wonderful!

Damn it!  One of the horned devils killed Tulon!  Right outside the walls!  I have ordered the first Squad, the best soldiers we have, to kill it!

And it ran away!  So I have ordered the murder of all horned devils near the city.  I ordered three units after it.  It was killed but only after it killed Catten the Hammerdwarf.  And wounded Uvash the Woodcrafter who was taken to the hospital.  Seems her right lower leg was cut open.

Then the three units were sent after the last remaining horned devil.  This one was killed without a death on our side.

Two horned devils down, two Villagers down, one wounded.  Oh, seems the Bookkeeper was also wounded.  Needs a crutch now.

It is late winter and one of the horned devils has attacked a villager.  So the three squads are being sent out again to overwhelm it.  And kill it.  I hope.

And it is dead.  There were no reports of any deaths of our soldiers though some seem to be wounded.  Why else would they go pantless?

Yes, Kel Trusshatchers the Herbalist, had been wounded.

No, he died.

The Touches of Clustering has requested to become residents.   I assume they are a troupe.  I decided to approve their Petition to replace all the folks we have lost.

Training has been halted to allow many of the villagers to work in the shops and collect material and haul items.  And help build the structures.

The Mayor is now demanding the making of quivers.  We don't have that much leather.  On the other hand we have finished his office and dining room.  So he is kind of happy.  I think.  Hard to tell with males.  The beard covers their expressions.

And early spring had arrived.  Along with the rain.

We are still working on the windmill.  Trying to make a windmill on a building is harder than it looks.  How do the humans do this?

The Major's rooms were finished.  Though there is still holes in the roof.

We have enough bedrooms for everybody.  If you define a bedroom as a bed placed in any space available.   But whatever works!

Everybody but the girl is buried.  She is still stuck in the river.  Only bones now.  We WILL figure out how to get her out if we have to dam the damn river with rocks.

On the other hand no new temples and the roads are still being worked on.  Oh, and no jail yet.  And our populace is now at 64.

Dinosaur is now on the menu.  Prepared Edmontosaurus heart pastries for example are a wonderful addition to the food supply.   As is chopped Parasaurolophus liver chowder.    Yum.  I think the meat pastries go well with the tea.  Though we seem to be less than a thousand units of food.  Not happy about that.

This report that covers the Spring of 253.

So, first things first.  With the humans and one the dino Bard among us I have ordered some clothing tailored to fit them.  We don't need to see them running around naked once their own cloths wear out.

Oh well.  The Eleven caravan from Calovi Rava have arrived.  Time to break out whatever gems we have.  They shouldn't get offended about gems.  Right?

The Broker pointed out we have at least over 5000 credits worth of cut gems available.

I told him to focus on fruits, animals, and food.  And any books they may have.

Turns out they had no books but a ton of fruits and nuts and so on.  We brought everything they had and they still got a profit of over 3000.  As you can guess they were VERY happy about it.  And no wood or wooden objects to offend the pointy ears.

Also both taverns are now properly stocked with booze.  And some foodstuffs.

Oh.  Imgrants have arrived.  The first to arrive from the west was Zasit Cloutbolt.  A wood burner.  With a Utahraptor as a pet.

Morul Tunnelmaors was next.  A male Fishery Worker. Who disdained cunning, fairness or knowledge.  So he won't be visiting library.

Then there was a Dwaren child named Rakust Tourboarded.  Who has no skills.  And tje son of the Fishery Worker.

Then there was another Gem Cutter named Monom Stakesinews.  She is greedy but mostly seems to be a patient person.

Then there was a female Dwarf named Zasit Palacesyrups.  A Animal Dissector.  Not sure where we'll need her.  But she does know a little about Germ Cutting and Bone Carving.

Then there was a Weaver named Eshtan Floorlabor.  Seems she was also a good cook and wound dresser.  Too bad she is frail.

The next was a  Bone Doctor named Ducim Boltblushes.  Maybe add him to the staff of the Hospital?

Then there was a Engraver named Tulon Safetykey.  She was humorless BUT was resilient and good with language.

And a pig.

Also another horned devil is causing problems.  Out goes the First Squad!

The damn thing was so fast.  It had been a whole day and they could not catch it.  I had ordered ALL units out to kill the thing.

Also a new craftsdwarf guild has been formed named The Inky Guild.

Good news!   The milirary overwhelmed the damn thing and killed it.

Darn it, I lost track of the imgrants.  Oh well.  Seems we now number 83.  I need more beds.

Oh, and a human soldier was permited to join the town.  Yes, we are a town now.

Also the Inky Guild wants a Guildhall.  I approved it.  And the traders are leaving now.

I order a large room to be dug out in the mines.  It will be the new guildhall.  Maybe place some workshops in it after smoothing it out and engraving it?

We have selected a Captain of the Guard and a Dungeon Master.  Now we need more offices, and dining rooms, and a jail area.

Oh boy.  A Albertosaurus has been spotted.  I sent out the squads.  All of them.

It is dead but at the cost of the new human soldier.  A Baroness Consort?  Oh well.

There are two others.  One Albertosaurus is caged.  And another is still running around.

Had to sent out some soldiers again.  A badger!

Well, it is dead.  But now something worst has appeared.  We have to overwhelm it before it wounds somebody.  All squads will be sent out to kill it!  And the eyes glow red!  RED!

It killed six of our populace.  But then changed into a dwarf and was killed.  Now we have to examine the wounded and see who needs to be isolated.  I just have to see who visits the hospital and then put them in one of the mine tunnels and block it off.

Thank the Gods I survived.  Also may I request how Heroic I was be written in my records?

Also this means a few sightly used beds were made available. If only I could charge extra for the warmth!

I order more graves dug out and more caskets made.

After checking the wounded only TWO seemed to have been biten.  The rest were thrown around.  Seems the werebison liked to use wrestling moves.   They will be put in a squad together and then station in a "important" chamber in the mines.  To guard.

Also the Mayor has also taken the title of the Hammerer.  Not a good sign.

Now I have a report that the Bone Doctor Ducim has been possessed.  Seems to have taken over the Stoneworker's Workshop.  One of them anyway.

Well, he seems to have started working on...something.  So I don't have to kill him.  Great.  A somewhat interesting bracelet that shows an event where a Triceratops killed a dragon.  Okay...these horned devils are more dangerous than I thought they were.

And the weres...maybe weres...have been walled in.

And on the 21st of Felsite, with the next full moon, we had our answer.  No one will be unwalling THAT room.

We collapsed a wall into the river to try to make the section the dead girl is in a small pond and drain it.  It failed and the dwarf to dropped the wall fell in and ALMOST drowned.

And summer has arrived!  Still working on the Guildhall.  And the windmill is having issues.  We seem to be having problems linking it properly.  But I am SURE we'll get right soon!  Oh, and the semi-trained Albertosaurus was butchered.  And a lot of petitions were turned down.  If more of the populace are killed I may approve a few petitions in summer.

OOC NOTE : I looked at the action reports and the Triceratop did not use its horns to kill anything.  Mostly charges and gores.  And we have a history of reports now!  Yeah.  Now if I could pick the memorial slabs from the normal slabs.

This report that covers the Summer of 253.

We have started to pull down and rebuild the windmill.  It isn't working for some reason.  For the life of me I can't figure out why.  Maybe the equipment was linked in the wrong order?

Also a billion chicks were just hatched.  So to make room I ordered the pen unlocked and many of the adult chickens butchered.

And Monom Bomrekkastar's corpse has been found in the river.  No doubt after trying to get out the girl's corpse.  From now on idiots who drown stay in the river.  Unless we can get some citizens who have gills....

I have approved two petitions and now we have 79 citizens.  No, 80.  Just stamped approval on another one.

It is the 14th of Hematite and the human caravan has arrived.  As has a Human Monster Slayer?  Weird.

We don't have much to trade.  But we will find something.

The humans want powder and meat for export for their next visit.   Likely we can trade them meat next year.  Dinosaurs give a lot of it.

Bad news.  One of the raptors has been missing for a week.  On the other hand we were able to trade some odds and ends to the humans for plants and meat.  So, more stuff to grow, brew, and cook.

On the other hand another Cave Fish Man is visiting.  How do they find us when they are blind?

Okay.  A few things are happening all at once.  The two weres have become werebison.  The Ferocious Coal have been sent to kill a Parasaurolophus.  AND a weregecko tried to sneak in, transformed BACK into a human, and seems to be in one of the ponds.  Drowning?

The damn dino runs too quickly.  I have ordered the Figures of Twisting and the Distinct Hanles to join in the hunt.

They finally killed it.  Now to find this...human...who is also a were.  And we found the corpse of the raptor.  Poor thing.   Hard to tell what killed him.  The raptors, when they are not in the pen, have a habit of running about and getting into fights.

Oh..the human seemed to have drowned.  Oh well.  One less were to worry about.

It is mid-summer and I have received a report about Ingish, a Dwarven child, who is stumbling about.  It is said he looks haggard and is rethinking his life.  Seems he has seen too much death.  I don't really care.  He will live to become a tough adult or die.  If he dies we'll have plenty of imgrants or visitors to replace him.

The windmill needs to be pulled down without destroying the building below it.  Also the re-elected Mayor wants more quivers made.  We really don't need them but I have ordered it so.

On the 6th of Malachite I receive a horrible report.  Neshastedol is missing!  One of our greatest artifacts!  I demand the Captain of the Guard do something.  He decided to have a little chat with Gencesh Lengeperad.  The Human Criminal.

Also he will chat with Dumat Sectclasped who first noticed it was missing.

We also have a zombie visiting.  A poet.  I wonder if zombies can swim?  Just a thought.

Oh my.  Seems Gencesh has confessed!  Or at least he pointed a finger at Atek Letterluster.  Whoever that is.  Atek isn't a visitor.  At least not under that name.

And none of that information helps find the lost artifact!

And the Deinonychus was found dead.  Poor thing.  Pets and kids don't do well here.

Another damn dinosaur got too close to the town and had to be put down.

Late Summer.  The windmill is STILL not working and imgrants have arrived.  I am so tired.

I am not even brother to count the imgrants.  I'll just look for some more beds to put out.  And I am ordering that the dwarves make a windmill on the ground.  Just to see if it functions.

It seems to not function at all.  Do we have no wind?  Surely we have wind.  We're near the damn ocean.  Maybe the trees block it?

Maybe a watermill?

So, we have a working watermill.  I may have made it too big.  We just have to put up walls and a roof.   And the old windmill is now my bedroom!   Once they clear out all the junk.  I'll keep the old office.  My new bedroom even has a floorgrate in the center of the roof to let in sun, air, and sometimes rain.

Oh, the Dungeon Master and the Captain of the Guard both have an office and a dining room and, in the mines, there is a bunch of iron chains.  Our jail.

We also have about 90 plus citizens now.  Still growing after all the deaths!  Growth is important to the shareholders.  Right?

And autumn has come.  So this report will come to an end.

OOC NOTE : Huh...the library has become somewhat popular as we now have a few books looted from dead bodies.  I think somebody even wrote a book.  Can we get notified about that?

Oh Great King erith Gikutzulban it has come to my attention that you sent a series of questions to the Manager to be answered.

As the Mayor, elected twice, I decided it was my duty to answer these questions in detail.

So, first, you requested information on our library.  We DO have a a few books in our library.  One of which is being binded as I write this by the Bone Carver.  I believe the book is called Captivated By The Rising Of The Moon.

Much of the writing is, to my knowledge, okay.  Now, on our graveyard.

You asked if we respect our dead.  Well, most of our dead are buried and have a memorial stone.  Though, to be honest, that can be an issue when people keep falling into the water and drowning.  Though, many of our people can now swim.  Purly by accident.  But they can swim.  Somewhat.

And you asked about our herds.  We have a nice mixture of creatures.  Utahraptors, goats, Woolly Mammoths, lots of pigs and chickens, a cow here, a Velociraptoir there.  Even a Yak calf or two.  Oh, and a Megaloceros fawn.  Should be very large once it becomes an adult.

Our Taverns, both public, have a wide selection fo drinks.  Yes, the second one was meant to be just for our citizens.  But there seemed to be a mistake in the paperwork.  I blame somebody else as I wasn't even the Mayor at the time.

Visitors to our taverns are also interesting.

Commander Strospi Satinforests is in one of our taverns.  He is a humanoid blind cave fish.  Seems to like the performances also.  I have been told one of his race visited before.  A Merchant.  Maybe word of mouth is spreading about our taverns and our special drinks?  Such as our teas and coffees?

Then there is Upir Swampcunning.  A human dancer who is also a sallow zombie.  She is thin, white, and, I have been told, very VERY strong.

And it seems she isn't the only...creature among us.  There is also Hode Soldcrow.  A human dancer fallen slayer.

And yes, there is also Mori Anguishsprays.  A female human dancer who is, yes, a sallow zombie.

At least they are friendly.  For now.  They seem to fell nothing but are making friends with both visitors and citizens.

But most of our visitors are humans, dwarfs, and there is even one goblin.  Funny, we don't seem to have a lot of elves visiting as much as we use to.

Some of the humans are...interesting.  The human Merchant Bisan Hoodgrasps seems to come from a culture that are nudists.  Because he is nude.  All the time.  And has no weapons, coins, or trade goods.

At least they all are enjoying themselves.  And do seem to enjoy sampling the brews we have available.  Newest addition to our menu is potato wine, parsnip wine, and swamp whiskey.

You asked about the court system.  We do have a jail now.  Kind of.  Bunch of chains in the mines.  Simple, strong, some of them well made.  Good Dwarfmenship.

Oh, and they are building a Statue Garden, with tables and chairs, in front of the Werebison containment unit.  So citizens can peek through the arrow slots and even talk to the captives.

Of course when the dwarfs change the visitors will flee in terror.  The Manager figures this kind of thing will build character.  OR deaden their sense of fear until nothing scares them.

I think this will just get me yelled at a lot more by upset citizens.  Also maybe the jail should be placed there instead?  What?  Prisoners should be punished.  Scaring them out of their minds is one way to punish them.

The Guildhall was also finished and the 13 members of the Inky Guild seem to like it.  Or at least they enjoy socializing there.  As do others who are not members of the Guild.

And the were who died in the pond left behind a couple of cool shields.  We plan to drain the pond.  Not to recover the bones but to recover the shields.  They may prove useful.  Don't worry ponds are easy to drain.  It is the damn river that is frigging dangerous.

So, yeah, that all I have to report oh Great King!  I am so happy to be the Mayor and I am enjoying my new office and dining room.  As are the Captain of the Guard and the Dungeon Master who have their offices and dining rooms above mine.

This report that covers the Autumn of 253.

I hope the Mayor's letter didn't bore you.  And I hope he behaved himself.  He seems a tad too happy about being elected twice.  At least he only demands we produce quivers.  We don't really need as many as he demands be made but they are still useful.

We finally have a working Ashery.  So we should have soap soon.  And a Vermin Catcher's Shop.  So if we are lucky we may have small tamed pets for the people to cheer them up.  I hope.

I also approved a petition from a troupe of entertaining elves.    Three elves and one dwarf in fact.

Oh the 14th of Linestone the caravan from Olin Nonub.  What did we promise to trade to them?  Let me look at my notes.  And when I mean notes I mean the stuff I write on the walls next to my desk.  Oh, and with them is the liaison Rimtar Bisekurist.

Hey, we don't have any agreement with them.  Good.  We can trade them whatever we want!  All the crap in other words!

Oh, and some new arrivals have shown up.  Yeah.  More hands to get to work.  Also may as well dig up some new graves.

Interestingly enough the traders came with lots of food, we traded some junk for some plump hemlets, but they also brought along a hairless mammoth.

As the trading was going I was approached by the Sect of Granite.  A religious group who request a temple and a priest.  I approved the request of course.

I noticed the migrants seemed to be drawn towards the Guildhall and the Temple.  Maybe those areas, being built within the living rock, feels more comfortable, almost homelike, to them?

On the 21st of Limestone I have been told that one of the kids, name of Ingish Thikutlist, is throwing a tantrum.  I thought that kid was already dead.  They all look a lot.  Now that I think about it most of us look alike.

He is in the Mayor's officer tossing around food and rocks.  I locked him in till he stops.  Or somebody reports him and I can let justice handle it.

Also it seems the adult chickens are attacking the chicks.  I guess it is a little crowded in their pen.  So I ordered all the hens and roosters butchered.

Oh, and it seems somebody made a statue of me.  Without me even ordering it.  How wonderful.  I put it outside the Mayor's office.

The kid was reported on but is too young to be arrested.  And now he is attacking and hurting the pigs.  Next time this twit enters a room I am locking him in.

Now he got into a fist fight.   Oh boy.  I am getting reports from everybody.  He is damaging barrels and hitting people.  Once he is old enough he is likely going to spend years in chains if not being hammered to death.

Oh...I am going to kill this kid.  He just destroyed our first carpenter's workshop.  The first workshop of the settlement.

Oh no!  One of the human soldiers visiting the settelment has turned into a Wereweasel!  All military have been called out to kill it!  He happens to be in the upstairs tavern.  Oh no, the public!  Somebody think about all the lawsuits!

It is dead.  In fact many of the visitors, including some of the undead ones, were attacking it before our troops arrived.  It was already being wounded and slammed around before the dwarves started stabbing and hacking it.  Seems the undead were also using magic on it.  They were just gesturing and tossing it about.  Or just hurting it.  Kind of scary.

I hope they ask to become residents!

The visitors also acted as meatshields.  In other words the were was so focused on the first people to attack it that it could not counter or deflect the attacks by our own armed, and trained, citizen soldiers.

BUT some of the our soldiers may have been, well, bite.  At least one Captain was.  Maybe more than one.  We will have to see who ends up in the hospital.

There are two wounded people already in the hospital.  But they are there due to the kid beating them up.  At least we now have soap.

Boy, blood all over.  And body parts.  The Butters of Paging is a mess.  But it gets cleaned up.  But for somebody's nose in the food and drink stockpile.

I figured out it is Onget Blotsack, Captain of the Noble Cudgels, who was the wounded officer.  As you can guess, once he has been worked on in the hospital we'll have to wall him up.  Oh, and it is his nose in the tavern.  Will it also turn into a were...whatever?

It also looks like the human axeman, Bekdil Dentfastened, has also been wounded.  We may have to exile him.  I am not sure I have the right to wall up a hired sword.  So many legal issues and forms to fill out.

And now the Silken Company requires a Guildhall.  In other words a woodworker Guild.  It has been approved.  I guess I will smooth a room, engrave everything, toss in a few displays, and a carpenter shop.

And after all that the traders are finally leaving.  Also a small Shrine to Kosh has been finished.  A very small one.  A Woodcutter, named onul Kikrostdeg is now the Performer for the Shrine.  Kosh is linked to Fortresses among other things.  So we really should  have built this earlier.

Oh, and a Rodent Man is visiting the tavern.

The wounded human soldier has been exiled while the Captain is being walled up.   If he does not change, well, we'll let him out.

Oh, and we were able to get the shields out of the pond without anybody drowning.

And the Mayor is FINALLY talking to the liaison.  I wonder what you have requested from him.  Sometimes I forget this reports are going to you.  Hahahaha...ha...ahem.

Seems you want crowns and crutches.  We'll see what we can do.

He has told me that the liaison offered to allow us to join the Kingdom.  And the Mayor suggested my name...what does that mean?  Oh, wait, the liaison has also come to talk to me...with paperwork to sign?

WE HAVE BEEN MADE A BARONY?  And I am now a Baroness?  Oh thank you Great King.

The Temple for the Sect of Granite has been named the Hot Chapel though it is not finished yet.  And have to find a Priest for it.  Also working on the Guildhall for the Silken Company, the Woodworker's Guild, Guildhall.  Already named The Rough Hammer.

And we have a Carnotaurus in the area pestering people.  So I ordered two sqauds out to kill it.  They killed it but one soldier is heavily wounded.

Turns out the Militia Captain is a were alright.

Oh, and I decided the export of beds was a no-no.  We need all of them.

And I wish, whoever is doing it, would stop dropping their pants all over the place!

Damn it.  Another Carnotaurus showed up and attacked one of the kids.  I sent two units after it but it killed the kid.

Well, winter has come and we number 103.  So even with all the deaths we are doing well.  I also have a nice office and the citizens are working on my tomb.

The Village from the first floor upwards - not to confused with the Village from The Prisoner.  Not including the watermill, the underground chambers which are mostly storage and pens.  Nor the mines.

This report covers the Winter of 253.

I have decided on declaring a Winter Holiday.  Straggered military training will continue and the construction projects will be allowed to finish.  And some crafting will be allowed.

But most of the Work Orders will be cancelled so that the populace can rest, pray, drink, and socialize.  In other words three months of free time.  Outside of the above duties.  And of course farming.

Also made some new Squads called the Cobalt Armors, the Creative Lovers, the Late Seals, and the Defensive Citandels.

The Sect of Granite is pleased with the new temple, even if it is not finished, and have requested I pick a Priest.  Which would fulfill the agreement.  I have selected the Axedwarf Ast Honorrooms.  He is not wasteful and values self-control.  High stamina and resists sickness.  Seems like a good pick.  And picked Lor Squidceiling as the Performer.  Both are members of the Reeligion and therefore are perfect for the job.  At least on paper.

I cancelled the military training but for the werebeasts.  Too many citizens were in the barracks and I want them to have FREE time.  Some still pick to drill but many have gone to work on the building projects while others go to drink and sleep.  Or fish and do other labors.  But only because they decided to.

Had to kill another Carnotaurus.  Damn things keep getting in the way.

And the Mayor has demanded the making of a single bracelet.  I am sure we ARE already making some.

And now the Mayor has demanded Avils.  So I am starting to wonder if maybe he needs a accident.

It is the 9th of Opal and there is finally a Carpentry Demonstration happening in the Rough Hammer.  The Woodworker GuildHall.  Only two members attending it but that's a start.

Damn it.  Found Aban Othosvucar, a Marksdwarf, dead.  Not even sure how!  We think it was linked to one of the red dinos running about.  I have to send out the units again!  Kill them ALL!

Seems the Human Bard, named Kes Asmurnongos, was killed by the damn things before we could kill them.  At least we have lots of open graves.

Also, now we have a Zombie Dwarf Dancer who is armed with a copper scimitar.

A wild Parasaurolophus somehow got into the walls of our settlement.  How?!?!  Oh well, have to call out the units.

Also not sure what kind of party is happening in the Craftsdwarf Guidhall but I wish they kept their pants ON!

A Frog like creature has been sighted.  But it seems to be hanging around one of the ponds and has yet to approach our town.  Maybe just cooling off?  We do live in a jungle.  Live and let live.

I have been notified we have over ten books in our library.  Though many may be copies.

Our population numbered 101 by the end of 253.  Not sure the three month Holiday did much to help the mood of the citizens.  That one kid, Ingish, had become depressed and haggard.  For a 9 year old he is a real annoying kid.  Overall the unhappy were still unhappy while the happy, or somewhat happy, people became slightly more happy.

Spring has come.  And the first piece of news is one of the Bards are dead.  So we are down to 100.  His body was found in the Natures of Weakening.  Our Temple for no particular deity.  Why?  How?Should I be shocked that a citizen died in a temple and nobody noticed til it was too late?

This report that covers the Spring of 254.

First thing to happen in spring is I met the Elf Diplomat Pari Romimicayi.  You can guess what he was crying about.  He just called us names.  He didn't ask us to stop cutting the trees.

And a whole bunch of baby raptors were hatched.  Also ordered another underground farming plot and another storage room dug out.

The elves have come.  I wonder if they will have what we will want?  Well, we can find some stone crafts to give them maybe.  We do have clay pots of booze?  I wonder if they would take those?  We also have a few earthware pots.

We'll just hide the wooden pots, of course.

Sadly, it seems the pots offended them.  Not that they had much besides nuts, fruits, and plants.  Not even worth seizing.  We just won't trade with them.  Likely get better products, and deals, from the humans.

And the elves are already leaving.  I don't think they like us.

The kid, Ingish, is getting into more fist fights.  On the other hand he has beat up the Hammerer...the Mayor.  So...I have mixed feelings about that.  And the Mayor can't do anything about it.  Not until the kid becomes an adult.

Also we are making glass.  Green glass but now I have a window in my bedroom and some windows are now in the upper floors of the settlement.  Facing inwards, towards the Trade Depot, of course.

Testing out building a green house on the second floor.  There is a theory that putting it above the surface will allow use to grow different plants.

Also sent two units after a Parasaurolophus who is causing us trouble again.

Added a third unit and they finally killed it.

And more migrants.  Which pushes us up to 121 or something like that.  I would care more but I have just been notified that the farmers now have a Guild called the Ripe Guild.  Who makes up these names?

Anyway more beds need to be made and....placed whereever I can find space.

And we have a Honey Badger attack.  Before I could do anything the citizens mobbed it and killed it.  Good for them.  Let's them get out their rage.

And the farmers want a Guildhall.  Already had one being dug out.  So I approved of course.  Must keep the Guilds happy.

For the heck of it I picked Deduk Zugobmorul, a Hammerdwarf, as the Champion.  What DOES a Champion do?  Also, why isn't the Dungeon Master doing anything?

And we now have a Bavarisaurus available as a pet.  Not even sure what that is.

Oh my ...the kid destroyed our Trade Depot.  We need to repair it.  When that kid becomes an adult if he ISN'T punished I will make him his own unit and wall him up myself!

And a Bard died in the hospital.  The staff tried their best but I think he was beat up by the kid.  I swear we are losing more people to Ingish then the dinos!  Well, maybe not.  But the dinos are animals.  Dwarves should KNOW better.

I understand he lost his mother and, later, his sister.  But that years ago and he does have two Uncles in the city.  And a few Cousins.  I would have thought he would find some comfort with them.  I just wish he would stop carrying all those scepters around.  He hits people with them when he gets mad.  When not tossing meals and stones at people.

Oh.  Checking on the migrants, as I assigned them some beds, I noticed we have a proper Surgeon.  Now they are on the medical staff.

Summer has arrived.  I just need to wait for the wet floor of our new second floor greenhouse to dry up and be muddy.  And for the guys to find bags so they can make green glass blocks.  Still, we can make glass flasks and all kinds of stuff.  I doubt the ELVES will like it but whatever.

It is underground to be closer to the sand.  And now we have three underground farming plots.  As you know we use the bag system to store the seeds.  As seeds sometimes get trapped in barrels.  So if you don't use barrels the seeds don't get lost.

And, of course, the original above ground ones are still in use.  Right next to the first Still and first Kitchen.  For ease of harvesting and processing.

The taverns, and our library, are proving to be very busy.  I just wish they would put the books BACK in the bookcase.  They treat our books like pants.  Just dropping them all over the place.

Many of our citizens have come to enjoy drinking coffee and tea.  Along with all the other drinks in our selection.  Such as rye beer, prickle berry wine, and sewer brew.  Just to name a few.  They also enjoy watching performances and chatting with the outsiders.

Our visiters are dwarves, elves, goblins, and sometimes animal folk.  Interesting to chat with and they do bring news.  Not that outside news is really my concern.  But I have chatted with a few outsiders.  A Goblin Miner named usbu, a Elf Bowyer named Rathe, and even a undead Human Scholar named Elku.  The latter came to visit our library and read some of the books.   In fact I think she has been reading all the books.

Many of our books seem to be manuals or histories or about science.  One book is even titled Generalization : Further Musing.  Seems to deal with inductive reasoning.

I, myself, now have a gold flask full of carambola wine.  I refill when visiing the taverns and I carry it around when on duty.  Yes, we found gold in the mines among other things.  Make the other stockholders know the mines are giving us gems, fuel, and ores.  And stone.

Also none of our food is rotten.  We have lots of pot, barrels, and so on.  So our rolls and salads and roasts are well protected and ready to eat!

We may be having issues with dinos and a certain kid.  But we have food, drinks, most of us have beds.  Some of us even have bedrooms.  And even pets.  Somebody even has...what it called?  A small sabertooth cat?  Really small.  No big fangs.  I think they call is a domesticated cat?

To be fair kids don't really have the experience to handle such events like the death of family members, dinosaur attacks, honey badger attacks, and dead bodies and blood all over the place.  Of course I won't feel sad once he is old enough to punish.    >:(

I guess I could make him a bedroom somewhere and lock him in.  But would the victims of all his crimes feel justice had been done if he just dies outside the justice system?

Guess it'd depend on how the dwarves in question felt about justice as to weather or not they'd like that ending for the kid.

This report that covers the Summer of 254.

So, the work on the Farmer's Guild is continuing while I have plans to deal with the...kid.  Don't ask.

Oh no.  Seems Thob erithid, the Armorer, has been possessed.  I wonder what damage she will do?

She took over the Metalsmith Forge and started mumbling.  I tried to figure out what she needed by listening to her mumbles.  She wants everything!

And the humans from Gil Tuco had arrived.  Maybe we can sell them some of our booze, pots, and other junk!  We also have a ton of Parasaurolophus meat just laying about.  We'll sell that to them too!

Also the human lasher, named Kuda Sweltertrusses, was spotted sneaking nearby.  Seems she wants Shewercuts.    I guess we'll have to...kill her? It IS worth a lot.  Still seems weird somebody wants a bracelet so badly.  Oh well, I will send out the units to kill her.

She is dead.  And all her stuff now belong to us.  Looks like she even had a book.

Though, before the troops could show up she chased erith the Bowyer around for some reason.  The poor thing is in the hospital.  The staff has yet to check on her but it looks like her hands may have been damaged.  She isn't even a soldier.  Poor thing.

And the humans have wagons!   Maybe I can get stuff for the Armorer?

Damn it.  The kid is throwing a tantrum but I was able to lock him in the Mayor's office for the time being.  I don't need him making a fuss now.

And the Mayor has been re-elected.  Again.  And, once again, demands avils.  Why?!?!?

Anyway, bought some leather, cloth, silk, wool, and what looks like a musical device?  Hard to tell.  The humans will make a 759 credit profit.  Which should please them.  And maybe the Armorer won't go crazy.

The Armorer has come to collect stuff from the Trade Depot.  A good sign!

And just noticed, in the paperwork, the human bard Mistrum Gravelcleaps is in jail.  Oh...he was blamed for NOT making the avils that the Mayor demanded in his second term.

Weird.  His file does not show he HAS any skills in Metalsmithing.  He is a good Animal Caretaker, Brewer, Fish Cleaner...lots of skills.  Nothing to do with metals.  Well, at least he was only chained up and not...well, hammered.

Good news!  Thob has started working on...whatever it is he is working on.

And the human Ehil Cilbaadoth, also known as the Monster Slayer, has talked to the Mayor.  Seems they want musical instruments and cloth earrings.  We'll see what we can do about filling their export request next year.  Did we even fulfill their expore request this year?!?!

I let the kid out of the office and he was so tired he went stright to his new bedroom.  A bland new bedroom.  Yes, just a bedroom.

The Farmer Guidhall, for the Ripe Guild, is almost finished and has even been called the Mine Pine.  Weird name.

And the Armorer finished....a pewter chain leggings.  Worth...oh...7000 credits!

On the 3rd of Malachite imgrants arrived. We went from 120 to 127.

Well, at least some people enjoy the tea.  In fact a few people seem to enjoy the tea.

Greenhouse isn't finished yet.  They still need to make the green glass blocks.  But the mud has been prepared and potatoe seeds planted.  It makes good wine.

Mid-Summer and the humans are leaving.  At least they traded with us something useful!

Of course, I have made it unlawful to export beds again.  We all know how important beds are.

Plan to make the jail area a tad nicer.  Don't want people going nuts just because they broke a law.

And the Ripe Guild is satisfied with their new GuildHall.  Looks nice don't you think?  (1)

I have smoothed out and engraved the walls and floors of the jail area.  And placed a food and drink stockpile there.  And beds.  I really want the prisoners to be taken care of.

Turns out tea or coffee might not be good for everybody.  Or they seem to have mixed feelings about it.  Still, the new Temples and Guidhalls seem to be making some of the populace happy.

The dying of threads and cloth seems to be slowing down the process of making bags and clothing.  So I have ordered the making of a second Dyer's Shop.

Oh no.  The body of Ingish Thikutlist has been found in a room with a locked door behind a wall.  Who could have done such a thing.    I blame the duck.

What THE?!?!   Something damaged the watermill!  NO!  All the machinery just fell apart!  What did this?  I ordered the citizens to go repair it.

Oh no.  A Werelizard....I now know how the watermill was damaged.

So I just told all the citizens to go to a barrow I made in one of the underground chambers.  There is tons of food and drink there.  The military will be ordered to station itself between the settlement and the watermill.  This may give them some time to assemble and prepare for the werelizard.

May the Gods help us.  And the Goddesses.  And anybody else who wishes to help us.

And while this was going on one of the Dwarfs was able, somehow, to lock the door to the watermill and the werelizard ended up going to the roof and...changing into a human.

Some reason the human can't climb down.  But my soldiers can climb up onto the roof.  So I ordered them to kill him.

And he is dead.

And the watermill has been repaired.  Also I approved the petition of a human soldier.  So....yeah, that was kind of easy.  I mean, if the weres are going to waste time attacking the mill I'm okay with that.  Or drowning in ponds that's okay also.

On the other hand I can't expand on our collection of werebeasts.  Hehe...just kidding.  I don't plan to make a zoo....unless it brings in the tourists?

Why is there a Parasaurolophus in the hospital?  How do wild animals know how to use doors?

And now we have a ghost.  Seems Monom is haunting us.  A Milker if I remember right?  I have ordered a memorial slab to be made at once.  This is the person who tried to get the girl's corpse out of the river and drowned in the process.  Which is why we don't deal with the river any more.

Autumn has come.  And may I request a new assignment?  There is too many werebeasts around here.  Really, not joking.  Pretty please?

This report covers the Autumn of 254.

We now have a new unit called the Legendary Lances.  None of them have any real military skill.  Just some dwarfs I tossed into a sqaud.  Their leader is the dinosaur bard.  I figured she would make a good Militia Captain.  I could be wrong.

Also did some reogranizing.  The tables and chairs in the Temple of Hot Chapel looked weird and I remembered they needed space for a dance floor.  Now that I think about it lots of rooms seem to need dance floors but I never see anybody dancing.

Also remembered to make some armor and equipment for human sized citizens.  Just in case.

And the ghost was put to rest on the 6th of Limestone.  One less thing to worry about.

And the human Bard who was in jail has been released.  Though citizens keep drinking from the jail foodstock.

Huh.   I noticed the child Dumat Sectclasped with a bucket.  She plans to milk an animal.  She also had eight crowns on her head.  I wonder if she understands those are for trade?

The Dwarven traders from Olin Nonub have arrived.  Wonderful.  I ordered a lot of pedestals and some mechanisms to the depot.  Which is about 449 credits.  I figure to get cloth or bags.  Which every is cheaper.  We also sell them a few ends and odds.  Some meat, some empty pots.

We got some cloth, a book, and other items.  Stuff we mostly needed and the book we wanted.

And the imgrants showed up.  We're up to 137...citizens?  I think.

Also having some rooms dug out.  Two for furture Guildhalls or Temples and six for normal temples I plan to open up as soon as possible.

In fact on the 27th of Limestone one temple was created for Onget Canyonmined the Ochre.  Onget is linked to Minerals and has 50 worshippers.  So it seemed like a good idea.  Needs some rocks to be removed but its finished.  And somebody needs to remove the pants.

It wasn't an organized religion, so it could not have a official priest.  But onul, a Mason, who was known for his singing voice was selected as its Performer.  The shrine should make a large part of the populace happy.

I noticed some of the soldiers carry tea in their flasks instead of booze.  What is happening to our culture?!?!  All of us becoming tea drinkers?  What will become of them!  Will somebody please think of the drunks!

Also I noticed we have a LOT of bones.  So I figured to make them into crafts AND help equip our troops.

So on the 23rd of Sandstone I noticed a scholar visiting the library.  A Cougar woman.  I don't mean a woman who is into younger men.  I mean a Cougar as in a mountain cat.  Though she is 62 years old if you into that kind of thing.  Not judging.

I ordered two of the duckbilled dinos killed.  They are hanging around one of our projects.  Also after they rot they give us a lot of bones.

And a small temple was opened to Vesh.  Well, a shrine, was opened to Vesh.  Mostly because there are over 30 worshippers of Vesh.  But also because somebody made a statue Vesh and I figured I may as well use it.  I just wonder why she looks...upset.

Also there is a pet Plump Helmet Man.  Seems happy enough.

Also I decided to remove the chores for the kids.  I want them to play and laugh and live and stay away from rivers and dinosaurs and the outside.

We also have three types of tea now.  Steeped Green Tea, Steeped Guarana Tea, and Steeped Yerba Mate Tea.  And Custard Apple Cider.  Only two coffees still.  Brewed Arabica Coffee and Brewed Robusta Coffee.

Goes well with either Palaeonuiscum Stew, or Prepared Goat Brain Roast, or just a simple Rice Flour Mash.

We are digging deeper.  Finding cool ores, gems, and even coal.  Nothing can stop us now!

Another human criminal has shown and I also told the Captain of the Guard to...interview him.  As well as the human bard Necromancer who has shown up!

Oh no.  A pack of Carnotaurus have shown up and are causing problems.  Mostly getting themselves wounded while canceling jobs.

We killed one but the others seem to be hiding....

Anyway built a butcher shop next to the dead one and we are now collecting its meat and bones and so on.

And winter has come.  I think we may have another winter holiday.  We'll see.

This report covers the Winter of 254.

So, I plan to clear out most of the work orders and clear the military schedule of training.  This WILL leave some orders in the workshops still.  And sowing and reaping will still be done.  Farming has to be done.  And the building projects that have been started will still have to be finished.

But I plan to let the citizens have the rest of the time to do with as they wish.  Though I hope they don't use that free time just to complain.

Noticed once the soldiers stopped training they either went to sleep or drink.

The barracks seem weird all empty and silent.

And we have newly hatched baby raptors.

Somebody is in jail again.  A scribe named Aban Craftclears.  Seems she violated a production order and was placed in jail by the Mayor.  Once again not sure why the SCRIBE is being punished.  But at least she has a nice bed, good drink, and artwork to keep her sane.

Oh no. A Gem Cutter, named Rigoth Tholestonul has been possessed and has taken the a Jewlwer's Workshop and started working on something.  Good.  Means she found all she needed.

Also decided to hand the Manager position to somebody else.  I am MUCH too busy as a Baroness to be a Manager.  I gave it to the Champion.  she seems to know what she is doing.

We also renamed the second flood tavern the Pumpkin of Tomes.  Which, to be honest, sounds nicer.

Had to reorganize some of our offices.  And the Gem Cutter finished making Tosedduthnur Tangak Inem.  A jade amulet worth 1800 credits.  Not bad.

On the 14th of Moonstone, early winter, the body of Ducim Atoldodok, was found on far edge of our holdings.  Not sure what killed him.

Also there was a rumor about one of the horned devils being around.  But I haven't seen any.

Hmmmmmm.....

Also been told the Outpost Liaison is checking out our shrines.  Not sure why she is still here.  To relax I guess.

HA!  Saw one of the horned devils near the walls.  Sent out a few units.

Darn it.  It killed Disem Omonapo.  On the other hand a Goblin spearman has attacked it.  A visitor jumping in to protect the City!  But at least it is dead.  And will be butchered.

Chased down another horned devil.  Killed it but it cost a soldier.

HA!  One of those horned devils got trapped in one of our animal cage traps.  We tamed it just enough to take it to a nearby butcher shop and turn it into food!

Approved a few petitions to increase the number of our citizens.

Also made a shrine for Omba.  The Church of Snarls.  Only 8 worshippers but we have a statue of him and he is linked to seasons.  Not that we have much in the way of seasons.  A human Bard was made the performer of the Temple.

The Mayor has ordered a few more visiters...'interviewed'...including the Liaison!  What a lovely Mayor we have elected.  Three times.

On top of all that he had a meeting with the Liaion that very day.  Seems you want us to export....drinks?   What happened?  Did the brewers go on strike?

Another horned devil was killed.  But good news.  New baby chicks were hatched!

On the 4th of Obsidian there was the report of two births.  One a baby elf girl to Ithithi.  A Elf Poet.  And a baby boy to Monom, the Bone Doctor.

Darn it.  One of those duckbilled dinosaurs is attacking our baby Protoceratops.  So I sent out three units to deal with it.  They killed it in the end.

Damn it.  Another one of those over sized ducks are attacking the Galliminus chick.  The wild dinos are hurting our tame dinos!

Ran into another one near the settlement and killed it.  They are all over the place!

Also decided to move all the bones and trash elsewhere.  People seem to get upset by the sight.  Someplace underground.  With a nice door to keep the smells in.

Oh no.  The Gallimimus chick had gone missing.  Oh, it was found finally.    It was found covered in blood.  Poor thing.  Ran into something bigger than it.

I am working on another temple.  Somebody made a statue of one of the gods.  So why not?  And somebody made another one of me.  Might put it in the third tavern we're working on.

Oh, spring has come and we have found the dead body of Sheno Monolzilar.  He was found in the barracks.  What happened?  Oh well, whatever.  We number 143 and most of us seem happy.  Or happier.

And we have lots and lots and lots of dinosaur meat!  Foolish creatures.  They attack us but we eat them!

This report covers the Spring of 255

So with Spring I have added some orders back onto the lists.  Not many.  I don't want to overwork people even when they are returning to work.

Third tavern space is almost finished I plan to leave much of the floor space open for dancing, singing, and whatever.  Also a lot of the raptors were now old enough to be trained for war!

Also had to kill another duckbill dino.  It attacked one of our raptors.  The raptors seem to roam the area.  Which ISN'T a bad thing.  They get into fights and pinpoint, by their noise, where the wild creatures are.

Uh oh.  It is the 12th of Granite and Mafol Emzas the Herbalist has been taken by a mood.  They had claimed a Craftsdwarf's Workshop.

And the elves from Calovi Rava are here.  Let us hope the Herbalist does not go crazy and kills a elf.  Well, at least not one of our elves.

I have ordered cut gems brought to the Trade Depot.  They won't refuse gems, right?

The Brass Nut is now the third tavern but only for citizens.  The Keeper is Sibrek Likotkab, the Papermaker, who turns out to be a Grand Master Comedian.  And the Performer is Likot Zaludsazir, a Lye Maker, who is a Competent Speaker and a Competent Dancer.

The elves have finally unloaded their goods and the only thing our Trader has found of interest is some of the leaves, fruits, and nuts they have brought us.  We buy all the items we can cook or brew or eat on the spot.

And their Diplomat has arrived.  I hope the Mayor behaves.

Seems the elves wish us to cut down only 25 trees per year.  HA!  We'll see.  I doubt it.  I mean, we are producing coke from bituminous coal.  So we don't NEED to cut down trees.

I have also asked that potash be produced each season from ash so we can fertilize our farm plots yearly.  Same with milking animals and making cheese.

And another raptor got into a fight with a Parasaurolophus.  So the units go forth to kill it.

On the other hand Mafol has begun working on...something.  So I don't have to put her down.  Killing citizens looks bad in shareholder reports.

On the 22nd of Granite Mafol finished making a carambola wood bracelet.  It is worth around 7300 credits.  Wow.  Not bad.

I just realized we have had three generations of Utahraptors.  Wild.  The raptors are doing better than we are.  Hahaha..haha..hmmm.

Also created the Trusses of Ringing, the Routed Towers, Outrageous Standards, and the Fenced Grooves.  All will be trained with ranged weapons.  Just in cause the elves prove to be a tad too grumpy in the future.

Mid-spring has come and the elves are leaving.

Also put terrariums and aquariums in the new taverns.  Citizens like cute animals while dancing, right?

The 25th of Slate and imgrants have arrived.  So we are going from 146 to 173.

Huh.  The Amathyst Fellowship requires  a Temple Complex and a High Priest.  I thought they already HAD one?  Oh well.  I approved the request.

Honey badger!  Sent a few units out to kill it.

Summer has finally come.  Still working on the temple complex.  Expanding on it and filling it with...stuff.  Even made it some windows.

And at least we finished the citizen-only tavern with the tiny zoo.  Few citizens seem to visit it.

This report covers the Summer of 255

Greetings!  From the Metropolis of the Abbey of Blossoming!  We nopw have, as of our last count, 173 citizens.  Among them are twenty-three humans, three elves, a Spinosaur woman,  and one elf baby.  No goblins yet.  Not that we are racist or anything.

Something damaged the gears in the mill on the 3rd of Hematite.  I have ordered it rebuilt.  I just hope there isn't a surprise waiting for whoever goes to fix it.

On the 14th of Hematite I ordered gold coins minted.  Also, for some reason, Kol Boatsound, a Fisherdwarf, has become Haggard and is stumbling around.  Seems he has seen too much death and has no bedroom.

And the humans from Gil Tuco have arrived.  I order goods to the surface to trade with them.  I think we will bring out the cut gems.  Small but pretty and should be worth a lot of credits.

And the Broker is meeting with the Human Head Treasurer Ehil Cilbaadoth.  Seems they wish us to export sheets next year.  Weirdos.

We trade the gems for milk, booze, and a codex.  This gives the human over 1275 credits in profit.  They seem happy.

Not that we don't have enough to drink.  We have 2792 units of drink and 6210 units of food.

And Etur has been re-elected as Mayor.  Oh goodie.

And the library seems very active.  Lots of visitors and citizens reading and debating things like pulleys and the nature of...well...nature.

Oh, and migrants are arriving.  I need more beds.

The third tavern's terrariums and aquariums are full of tiny creatures.  I assume the citizens enjoy such cute tiny animals.  Such as the pederpes.

POWER!  PURE POWER!

On the 9th of Malachite the Silken Company now requires a Guildhall for them.  They were a Woodworker Guild.  I approved of course.  We have one already smoothed out large chamber I can start working on.

And the humans are leaving.  The Traders anyway.  Not our humans.

On the 22nd of Malachite I have been told that Kol is now depressed.  And is attending a meeting.  I hope the Mayor can help him.

Oh no.  A Wrestler named Shem Eturgulnas is stumbling about obliviouisly.  I hope this isn't a germ being passed around!  Oh...never mind.  He is just one of the werebisons.

The Silken Company seem happy with their new Guildhall, the Ripe Furnace, and it isn't even finished yet!

On the 2nd of Galena the Weaver, known as Eshtan Floorlabor has been taken by a Strange Mood!  And has claimed a....Clothier's Shop.

Also a goblin has been injured somehow.  We don't know how.  We think it fell somehow, from the roof!

Darn it.  Tried to expand upwards to make the temple into a temple complex but damp rock!  Building walls was too slow and used a hatch to seal it up.

And the Wrestler Shem is stumbling about also.  I wonder what is happening.  Surely we have enough food and drink.

And Autumn has come.  I noticed we only have one Clothier's Shop.  And when the Weaver took it in a Strange Mood we had a issue making new bags and clothing.  So I ordered a new one be built.  On the roof so we'll have to make walls and roof over it.  Need to protect the folks from the rain and the sun and the bugs.

This report covers the Autumn of 255.

Hmm.  May have a problem.  The Weaver who took the Clothier's Shop isn't doing anything.  We think they need rough gems but I think most of them have already been cut.  Uh oh.

And the Mayor has banned the export of bracelets.

The caravan from Olin Nonub has arrived along with the ouppost liaison.  I can't wait to see what the Homemountains have sent us!

Ordered some pots of booze to the Trade Depot along with some unused mechanisms.

Oops.  I think the Weaver needs CUT gems!  I have ordered some worked on right away!  But they are sure taking their time.

So, we bought some cut kunzites from the caravan.  Along with some sheets, some yarn, and some Plump helmets.  Can never have too many helmets, of course!

And it worked.  The Weaver is MOVING!  No doubt to grab the cut gem.

Yeap.  She is working on something alright.  Wonderful.  Don't have to kill her.

Seems your Highness also wish us to export handwear.  We'll see what we can do.

And the Weaver has finished.  She has completed a Frilly Woolly Mammoth Fur...Toga.  Wow...worth 8300 credits.

On the 3rd of Sandstone the miner guild, the Hall of Hollows, are asking for a Guildhall.  I have agreed.

And they approved of it before it was even finished.  I wish the Temples were as easy to make as the Guildhalls.

And the mines have grown greatly.  Now that we are below the damp stone we can dig as deep as we want.

I have also created two new squads.  The Geared Drinks and the Steels of Metal.

Migrants have arrived.  So we will go from 198 to...eh...199?  One migrant has arrived?  Weird.

I also assigned one of the pre-made Temples to Em Dessertrhyms.  Who is linked to music and has eight worshippers.

Maybe it is just me.  But I can't get use to some of our visitors.  We have a Human Monster Slayer sallow zombie visiting our settlement.  Is it dangerous or just a harmless visitor?

Also I have mandated beds be made.  We need them anyway.

Also one of the raptors have been found dead.  And rotten.  I wonder what happened to it?

And we killed another Parasaurolophus who came too close to the settlement.

I have received news, on the 22nd of Timber, that the Miner Dastot Dishmabthukkan, had been taken by a fey mood.  She has taken over a Stomeworker's Workshop.  Which makes sense.

And started working on something shortly afterwards.

They still have not expanded the Church of Avalanches to be counted a temple complex yet.

Winter has come and we now number 200 citizens.  I hope that will be enough.  And I think I will erase many of the work orders to allow the folks free time.  Time for a Winter Holiday!

This report covers the Winter of 255.

So, with winter I have cancelled many of the job from the list of stuff needed to be done.  There are still some things that need to be done but I'm sure this will allow many of the citizens to have time for themselves.

Good news!  The Miner created a cabinet.  Worth 3800 credits.  Not bad.

On the other hand we now have Kol, a Fisherdwarf stumbling around.

I also mandated more beds be made.

Seems the two werebisons got into a fight and one of them was killed.  Tekkud Risenlimar.  Killed by Shem Eturgulnas, the other werebison, and her lover.

Boy...I feel bad about that.  Also had to send two of the units out to deal with a Parasaurolophus who was attacking one of our raptors.

In fact there is a few that had to be hunted down and killed.  The military are going to have a work out!

And it seems a human was seen sneaking around.  Not sure why they would be sneaking unless they are a spy.  So I sent a unit to kill him.  Well, three units.  And he is dead.  Death to spies!

Just checked on Shem.  He seems happy after getting dressed again.  And I don't think he understands the dead werebison sharing the chamber is his lover.

Wait....what was that noise?  Oh no.....all units to the surface!  ALL units to the surface!

The Roc is going after some visitors on the surface while our troops rush out.  I hope the first wave is armed and have some skill.  Otherwise this may be the last letter to leave the settlement!

One Spearperson is down after attacking it.   And a Dwarven baby attacked it and died.  Not the first baby to be born in the Metropolis!  No, not the baby....

NOO!  The Spinosaur Woman was killed!  She went down so fast!

A human recuit went down and a Baroness Consort died.  But the Roc is down and bleeding!

The units all piled up on it.  It is bleeding heavily and exhausted and injured.  Every part of his body is damaged!   It can't fly or even stand!

It just fainted!

It is done.  I will build a Butcher Shop next to it.  At least the wounded can be taken care of now.  Oh, the Geared Drinks and the Legendary Lances need Captains.

Three wounded were brought to the hospital and the staff are already working on them.  We took on a Roc and...won.

I ordered more beds be made and one of the raptors were found dead.  I hate those duckbilled dinos!

Roc is on the menu folks!

Our menu has a expanded a tad.  Along side the Roc we also added Macadamia nuts to the menu.  We can't plant them so we may as well cook them!  I hope you like pie.

On the other hand we only have one type of coffee.  I think they many have used some of the grounds to make a few cakes.  Not sure about coffee cake.  Sounds kind of.....weird.

Also had a statue of the Roc made and placed on the highest roof.  Funny enough from a distance it looks like a rock.  Hmmmm....

Another floor was made and it will be filled with beds.  I think everybody should have a bed by the end of the year.  Mostly because some people died.

On the 22nd of Opal a fishery worker guild named the Lush Guild has been created.  And they want a Guild Hall.  I am not sure WHAT to put a Fishery Guild...but I agreed.  Seems the ten members want their own place to ....study fishing?

Also seems we have a few more visitors.  The normal.  Humans dancers, a Goblin Peddler, and a Olm Woman Merchant.

And I ordered a single bed made.  What?  At least I am not asking for solid gold beds....hmmmm...

The Pearl of Oars is small but a nice Guildhall with a few statues of fish.  A Fishery and some tables and chairs.

I noticed that the Church of Snarls, the one dedicated to Omba next door to the Guild, has a lot of worshipers.  Most of them are visitors.

And the Static Sanctuary, the Temple to Vesh, has one lonely visitor.

As we work on the Fishery Guildhall spring has come.  As did the new year.  And we found a dead body.  The Human Bard Tol Tohwotspecut.    It was found outside covered in bee venom.  Hmmm...sounds like one of the duckbill dinos killed him and tried to make it look like the bees did it.

This report covers the Spring of 256.

Party time was over.  Time to get back to work and prepare for any thing or any body who shows up.

We better start working on that headwear order for the Homemountains and the sheets for the humans.

And bad news.  A Scribe, Aban Rigothes, was found dead.  Her dead body was found in a finished goods stockpile.  How she died or why is unknown.

And another raptor has been found dead.  And Militia Captain, Shem, is throwing a tantrum.  But who cares...he is the last remaining werebison and he is trapped.

And the Lush Guild was satisfied with their Hall.  In other words the Fishery Workers were happy.

On the 13th of Granite the elven caravan from Calovi Rava arrived.  We'll see what we have for them.    So going to send 7 rock mechanisms, 25 dumplings, and 65 roc loafs to the Depot.

Oh no.  Lor, a Performer, has been possessed.  He has taken over a Carpenter's Workshop.  And is already collecting the material he needs.  So maybe he will make something and not have to be killed.

And the Elf diplomat has chased me down...so into the meeting I go.  Can't the Mayor do this?  sigh...

The Elves are demanding we limit how many trees we cut down.  I agree though I don't really care.

The Broker has reported that with the food and mechanisms give us over 27513 credits.  So he is getting most of the fruits, plants, wood arrows and bows, because some of our warriors are elves..right?  What else did he get?  Oh, some clothing.  Once again for our many elves.

Funny he withdrawed the mechanisms from the offer and with just the meals alone we were giving the Traders' 26096 credits profit.  I hope they are happy.

Okay...seems they refused out food.  So we're taking everything.  I am so sick of them.  Next time I'm not even bothering to trade with them unless we have rocks.  I'll give them rocks.

The small animals we took will be available to be pets.  The larger animals will be put on the menu.

And Lor has started on...something.

And finished.  Making a wooden....statue?  Uh....wow..  Worth 14800 credits!  Oh...it relates to the killing of Nish by Stutteredhustle the Triceratops in 252.  How sad.  Oh, encrusted with gems and leather and bones.  Weird but I guess that's why it is so pricy.

And on the 27th of Granite we have more imgrants.  Well...one maybe?  We have 200 citizens at this point so let's see how many show up.  So....202 citizens now.  So two showed up.

I have decided to open the Brass Nut, the third tavern, to the public.  While a few citizens visit it seems to be empty.  The space is going to waste so why not open it?

On the 2nd Slate, being mid spring, a dozen or so citizens have gone off to gather fruits and plants from one of the Gathering Zones.  Many got up into the trees and didn't fall down either!

Darn it.  There seem to be a ghost of a Human Recruit running around.  I am not sure if this was reported before or not.  I pretty get them working on a memorial slab!

And soon the ghost is put to rest.  In fact I have ordered all memorial slabs set up, by a grave or not, and others made for those who are dead and have no grave.

I am not sure why but a lot of our visitors seem to enjoy swimming in many of the ponds and streams we have made to drain other ponds.  Weirdos.

Darn it.  The agreement to Establish a Temple Complex for the Amethyst Fellowship has been abandoned.  What did they want?  I tried my best to expand on the smaller temple.  Coins, statues, displays, all kinds of stuff!   If only the workers had moved faster!

Summer has arrived.  And during the last few months I had the citizens work on a outside project.  They emgraved the tiles outside.  It was a test and it seemed to work.  I guess I can do that to all the floors, outside and inside.

Also started expanding the walls and buildings of the Metropolis.  And the library has three bookcases as the first two were full of books and scrolls.  Needed more room.

Tell the shareholders were are now around 202 citizens and I think our only danger at this point is a Elf raiding party.  Yeah, I don't think they like us right now.  What with all the blood and holes and chopped down trees and ditches and above ground buildings and pants all over the place.

This report covers the Summer of 256.

So summer has come and we have plenty of food, drink, and labor.  So now we just need to make profits for the homemountains.  Right?

So I ordered a lot of rock crafts, some bone crafts, and a few wax crafts.  We have a bunch of beehives I assume we have wax someplace after making all that mead.

And ordered some livestock killed.  We have WAY too many animals.

The human diplomat from Gil Tuco has arrived.  Not sure why.  There seem to be no traders with him.

Oh, there they are.  The armed guards showed up first and then the traders.  I better see what the deal was with them.

No trade agreement was made with them so we can trade anything we want with them.  I sent some mechanism, body parts, meat, and so on.  Junk and stuff we don't need or have too much of in other words.

Not sure what to tell the Broker to trade the items for.  We have over nine thousand units of food and over three thousand units of drinks.  Lots of meat, fish, plants, and seeds.  The library is kind of full..but still room for books.  I think the main issue is the need for new clothing.  So maybe bolts of cloth and threads?  And maybe some pants and shirts for the humans?

And Etur was re-elected as Mayor.  Again.

The human broker has talked to our broker about us exporting sheets.  Uh, I guess everybody is making books?  We agree.

Oh no.  Kib Likotteling, the Cook, has taken over the Bowyer's Workshop.  Something weird is going on.

So we traded our junk for some shirts, socks, and two chests of cloth.  That should help.

I would like some more so I have told the citizens to see if we have any gems, cut or otherwise.

No gems, but 268 dumplings made from Hyphalosaurus.  Which should allow us to buy anthing we want!  They are worth over seventeen thousand.  I told the broker to get all the cloth and thread.  And leather if we could.

We were not able to buy EVERYTHING we wanted but now we should be able to make enough pants, shirts, and so on to make most of the citizens happy.

Darn it!  The horned devils are back!  The units have been ordered out to kill them.

One was killed but the other one is in one of the ponds and the soldiers are having a hard time getting at it.  In fact many have ignored the order and have gone back to the settlement.  So I cancelled it.  Too bad about the folks in the pond, two of which are already dead, fighting for their lives.  They seem to be visitors...so in the end we still have 202 citizens.

Also Kib finished making a crossbow.  Which makes sense....

The visitors fighting the Triceratops all died it seems.  But it was so wounded it can barely move and seems to be fleeing.  Now it is free of the pond I can send out the better units after it.

The soldiers of the oldest units are the best armed, best trained, and best protected.  Soon the horned devil is bleeding, nauseous, winded, over-exerted on top of already being seriously injured.

And it is dead.   While this creature was killed three wooly mammoth calves were born!  And the visitors who died left a lot of stuff behind.  Including books.  Loot!

Mid summer has come.

On the 12th of Malachite the merchants from Gil Tuco announce they will be leaving soon.

FINNALY!   The Church of Avalanches is a Temple Complex and can have a High Priest.  So I figure we need to pick somebody who is part of the Amethyst Fellowship!  So the old Holy Silver, Asen, became the Exalted Boulder, the High Priest.  But now I needed a new Holy Silver.  So  I decided on Dumed Wardtowers.  She was there...

Both seemed happy.

Wow.   We have a Elf who wants to live here to study.  I have approved the request.  Why not become a center of knowledge?  Must be the library.  We have so many books and scrolls now!

And on the 26th of Malachite it started to rain.  Heavily.  Well, at least we have buildings with roofs to keep us dry.  That's what we get for living in a jungle.

Also noticed something weird.  Outside of the fact we have WAY too many Bards and Poets I took a look at the Chief Medical Dwarf's files.  Their skills have become somewhat rusty.  I think it is due to our warriors either being too good to get hurt in combat or being so bad they get killed.  In fact I also checked out the files on the Bone Doctors and the Surgeon.  And they have the same problem.

And yeah, when I say files I mean the notes I wrote on the walls of my office.

But they are not the only ones showing a slow decrease in their skills.  There are TOO many workers fighting over who gets to do what.  So their skills are ALL rusting.  Kind of.  Why do we use the word rust in that way?

And Mafol Kelothsin, a Miner, is in jail for some reason.  Eh.  Let me check my...files....

Oh, I put them in jail.  Well, I must have a good reason.  Yes...a failure to fill a order I demanded.

Damn.  Somebody decided to use barrels in the seed stockpiles.  Again.  Gosh darn it.

Autumn has come.  Time to end the letter.  Yes, time to end the letter.   Tell the shareholders how well we are doing!

This report covers the Autumn of 256.

One of the best parts about settling down in the jungle is no snow during autumn or winter.  Still, we'll have lots of rain.

And yes, we are expanding the walls.  Also we are smoothing out the rocks around the settlement and engraving on them.  So when outside the citizens can see some beautiful art.

I also got the impression that one of the cats was rude to me.  Naaa...

Well, the Liaison from Olin Nonub has shown up, with their caravan, on the 16th Limestone.  I have ordered the Broker to the Trade Depot.  I am going to check our trade agreement and see what they wanted.  Oh, no agreement.

So THEY will be okay with Hen egg buns and Hen egg chowder.  They are our fellow dwarfs after all.  Total value is over 5800 credits.

So traded it for rope, flasks and waterskins, another woolly mammoth who was male, booze and milk, some more weapons, picks, and some shields.

And the Bowyer has been taken by a fey mood.  Damn it.  On well, at least she only took over a Bowyer's Workshop.

Also attaching our two pumps to a waterwheel to see if I can drain some of the ponds near the settlement to get out a few books.  And the dead bodies of the visitors still in the ponds.

Darn it.  One of the horned devils is near where we are trying to build!  Out go the units!  In fact six were sent out because another one was spotted.  There must be a herd across the river.

And both are dead.

As was the Fisherdwarf Alath who was found dead.  Seems he drowned.  Oh boy.  Not sure whole.  We can't get to the body as it is in the river.

On the other hand the waterpumps seem to work.

Not now!  You stupid horned devils!  Not now!

Alway, it is the 13th of Sandstone and the traders are leaving.

Oh no.  Looks like a visitor was killed by a meat eating dino.  Need to send out the units again.

And erith has started collecting stuff.  So she won't kill anybody.  And might make a new...bow?  Whatever.  She is working on something.

Darn it.  Seems we have a Ghostly Miner pestering the remaining werebison.  In hindsight that's kind of funny.  Because she was his lover.

And the Bowyer erith finally finished making...a bow.  And has claimed it as her own.  Can dwarfs even use bows?  It looks like something a elf would make.

And we found a dead Tavern Keeper.  The Keeper of the Pumpkin of Tomes.  Looks like Sibrek was killed by one of the horned devils.  I hate those things.  We'll have to kill it and find a replacement for her.  I picked a Elf Poet.  Eh...we don't have a Performer for the same tavern.  I'll pick another Elf.

What does Pumpkin of Tomes mean?

So, one of the horned devils are dead.  And the other got trapped in one of our cage traps.  Once trained...a little, it will be butchered.  Duh.

Also seems the library needs another bookcase.  Not much room left in there.  I wonder if we need to make a second library?

The ghost was also finally put to rest.  And so winter comes.  Not that anybody notices.  No snow, no leaves falling, no cold front.  Just another day.

This report covers the Winter of 256.

Time for Winter Feast 256!  I will clear all the work queues.  So people can do...almost anything they want.

I mean, there are still some jobs.  Engraving, farming, hunting down horned devils.  You know, some stuff still needs to be done.

Had to kill a Parasaurolophus. Oh well.

Noticed a lot of our visitors are repeat visitors.  They have relationships with many of the citizens.  Even the visiting undead.  So many zombies.

Also the library has become very crowded.  Four bookcases full of books, two tables, two chairs, a chest, a display, and a lot of scholars.

At least everybody has beds.  In fact we have a few empty ones.

Well, out go the squads!  A Ettin, a two headed giant, has come.  Unless the Ettin is more dangerous than a Roc I think we can win.  I plan to station the units between the walls instead of sending them all out at once.  So to create a defense line.   We'll see how tactics work.

Our scouts say it is a female.  Easy to see as it was naked.  And unarmed.  The kids were sent to the Barrow.  I mean, come on, she's naked.  That's not right!

She killed a goblin already.  Visitors seem to be getting in her way and fighting her.  Good?

Okay, she is taking her time.  So I am sending the massed against her!  Wish us well.  All units are going for it!

Damn it.  It is running in terror!  Just because she got cut and hit a couple of times.

And she slowed down and we overwhelmed her.  Lon Skilltamed, a Human Axeman, claims the kill for his own.  A few wounded but nobody died.  None of our citizens, anyway.

Oh, and I let the kids out of the barrow.

Seems the Major was attacked by a Performer who got upset.  He is now, from what I understand, going to report the crime.  Seems onul Kikrostdeg threw a tantrum and the Mayor was in the right ...er...wrong place at the wrong time.

Oh no!  She is in the library.  She better not touch the books!  She attacked a female Peasant and she is not bleeding.  Bad!!!  She isn't armed but has a buckler and a crutch.  And is using her fists.  She is a skilled fighter.  This can go very badly.

Avuz, the Peasant, is really injured!  The Performer, even while this was happened, was convicited and will be punished.

The Peasant ran for it.  And I hope the Guards will arrest the Performer before she does anything else!  No, she attacked a Tavern Keeper!  That's horrible!!!!

The Peasant made it to the hospital.  Thank the Gods!

Oh.  The Peasant could not breathe and died.  I could not help her.  Murder!!!!

Onul is no longer attacking people and decided she needs a rest.  She will alright.  85 days in prison after a beating.

Well, she got her beating.  Can't breathe.  Can't stand or grasp.  I am not sure she will to go to jail.

She was taken to the hospital and dumped into the same bed her victim died in.

A Planter, another victim, is also in the hospital.

The Performer is dead.  And the hospital is almost full.  The Performer really hurt some people.  I had to add beds.

Huh.  Mita Soothebind is visiting.  Reciting Poetry in one of the taverns.  Funny enough she is a Dwarf Pilgrim Damned Ghoul who is a visiting Captain Of The Guard.

The place is a mess.  Pants, socks, chickens, everywhere.

We have started making a wall to encircle the settlement completely while making a tunnel for visitors and traders.

And the liaison from the Mountainhomes has arrived to chat with the Mayor.  The Mayor asked for seeds and the liaison asked for us to export shields and bucklers and thread.

We have also been made a County and I am now a Countess.

Oh, and  we have a new Mayor.  Ithithi Theyiseecafe.  If that name seems weird that's because the new Mayor is a female Elf.  And now she gets the old Mayor's office, tomb, and dining area.

And the Potter Eral has become possessed.  Took over a Clothier's Shop.

Also there are no traders.  I think the work on the wall has blocked them.  Even with the tunnel.  Bummer.

Spring has come.  And why is there a dead soldier in the training barracks?  Oh well.  Looks like the Potter is gathering up material.  So Eral won't go crazy.  I hope.

A chicken was chained over the tunnel entry on the inside of the wall.  As a warning system.  And a drawbridge in the tunnel is being linked to a lever.  I hope any future invaders will be dealt with easier.

Howdy Folks,

I believe I have had fun with Abbey of Blossoming.  But I feel it has come to an end.  It has over 200 citizens, it has a Countess, I had fun with a lot of mods.

But it was more of a gameplay than a story.  So I am moving onto something smaller.  As in maybe 20 dwarfs and first person story telling.  Not writing every detail just writing from the point of view of a few of the settlers.  No mods though still slightly modded.  We'll see.  But this has come to an end.

Thank you for reading!
