I'm finishing up the ending to Stardust Marathon!

This feels at once... nervous but at the same time very liberating because I can do anything and not worry about writing myself into a corner.

Oh, I'm all moved in to my new place now. I have a home again. It's pre-furnished with some lovely furniture and lamps and I've quickly augmented the space with a desk and a bookshelf. The homeowner has a little terrier and he's just the happiest little guy that loves to share the space with me. I had to shoo him back upstairs last night because he wanted to come to bed with me! I'm flattered, little friend, but you should go be with your owner instead.

I thrifted a bicycle for a song and my long-time friend that put me up for the two weeks I've been in town lives just a mile away and wants me to join her rock climbing gym. I'm gonna get fit!

I'm just really happy to have friends, a quiet space, a little furry guy that I don't have to worry too much about, and full liberty to pursue my own interests again.

Been feeling much less depressed lately, which is weird after being on a steady downslope for about ten years. Tidying stuff up, preparing meals for myself rather than just when I have someone else to cook for, taking better care of my animals, waking up earlier. Still a long way to go, but I feel a lot better than I have in a long time.

Coincides with getting some dental work done, so I think my depression was being made worse by wisdom tooth related jaw pain that I had stopped noticing consciously. Might be a premature assumption, but it feels reasonable enough. This feels different from my other upswings in mood, more lasting. Hopefully permanent.

Also, we have frogspawn in the pond again this year. Two clutches. No toadspawn yet, so we probably still haven't recovered from the year a bunch of adult toads froze while overwintering under the water. Still, the frogs seem to be doing alright, and the pond will have some adorable little wiggly fellows swimming around soon enough.

That fixed it, and those are some nice frogs you've found there.

Three hours traipsing around a bog looking for grouse turds. Not fun, but I'm home now and it's never felt so damn comfy.

EDIT: Finally got around to making cottage pie for the first time, considering I had no recipe it's turned out pretty decent. Not amazing, far from, but it's good enough.

It'll also feed me until I head home.

And my PEC went through, so that's a bit of relief.

bicycle bicycle bycicle popsicle bystander bisexual

It's a little squeaky, but it's the thin-tire street bike I've always wanted, and it turns heads from all the cycling enthusiasts who haven't seen something vintage riding around amidst all the high-end mountain or e-bikes. Red definitely seems to be my color this year.

Definitely needs a new seat with more cushion, though. Ow.

Why were you looking for turds in a bog?

Did you account for the possibility of one of the grouses having major stomach issues?

Ran a half-marathon today with a couple of friends. Not only did I finish but I did surprisingly well compared to what I was expecting, clocking in at 2:12 overall. Makes me happy that I'm in such a good shape despite spending a bunch of time basically human pretzeling in front of the PC.

Whats less fun is the bloody pain in my legs and knees tho :V
