DF Suggestions / Giving limbs a material volume
« on: July 24, 2014, 07:49:37 pm »
If this actually exists, ignore this.

I was just reading the bug tracker, and there was something about creatures on fire will never burn away into nothing. So, if each limb had a "Volume", fire could work by slowly burning this volume down.
I don't know much about the code/raws, but i believe this would have to be applied to the tissue layer of a certain limb, so not to affect things underneath while the higher layers are still intact.

I suck at indepth suggestions.
Ideas/Is this stupid?

DF Suggestions / Tags for ranged weapons.
« on: October 18, 2013, 08:51:49 pm »
I'm back! HERESY!

Anyway, since shooting things is currently linked to the character speed. What if we had tags for ammunition, and the weapons.
Right now i can only think of two tags, one would be [FIRE_RATE], which with a number afterwards would determine the speed which the weapon fires, completely disregarding character speed.
Another would apply to the ammunition, which would be something like [IS_MAGAZINE], followed by a number which would be how much ammunition is in that specific thing, maybe with something after telling it what ammunition it holds.

Reloading would be handled like normal, taking character speed into account with the reload speed.

Good, Bad, Suggestions?

Other Games / Blackspace
« on: March 18, 2013, 02:47:20 am »
Blackspace is a game being made by PixelFoundry and is still indevelopment.

It's set around an asteroid, where you have to dig, build a base, and fight of enemies all while flying in your little heavy duty rover.
I don't have much to say, here's the forum link.

(Couldn't find this on the forum, there isn't another thread is there?)

DF Suggestions / Half-walls/gates
« on: January 26, 2013, 03:31:52 am »
Yay for another suggestion.

Anyway. A half-wall would function as something to block water and magma (And maybe small critters) up to a certain height, about 3/7. Dwarves can walk over them, but it takes longer than usual. The gate would function exactly the same, except that it lets water through, and comes in two variations. One would be the same has the wall, where a dwarf can walk over it etc, and another would be the full height of a wall, but only lets 3/7 water through, so you don't flood things, and water can't go over it. Something that could be used for small bathes in the fort, but you don't need to channel down a layer and have them walk through it.

What do you think, community of insanity the sane?

Yay for being back (Again)
So, i remembered something i read on that devlog thing on the main page, about movement. Where when you run, you have to gain speed, and you would continue going that speed until you try to slow down. (I've been away a bit, so some of this might be implemented) What if this applied to combat, and objects to? Say, someone mods in a large, fast creature, it starts going fast, and goes towards a titan, depending on your speed, and your dodge/agility and theirs, and if they are hostile or not (Maybe a way to change if you want to run into them?), there will be a chance that you hit them, and depending on what you and they are wearing, your speed, how much they get out of the way etc., you will do damage, possibly breaking bones or gibbing them.

For combat, say you could fly. You're in the air, and start diving towards a guy at a shallow angle, when you're next to the creature, you'd be able to attack him with whatever weapon you're holding, and the attack would be affected by your speed. You're really high up, start diving towards someone who has steel armor. You ready a copper spear, and run into said someone, and the spear goes right through them, possibly breaking or damaging the spear, knocking them back, and bruising and broken bones (Depending on where you hit them). Then depending on the angle, your agility etc., you'd smash into the ground and become a puddle, or pull up completely missing the ground, or maybe skimming it (Skimming the ground and tumbling, while jumping or flying, anybody?).

Jumping? Getting up to a certain speed, and then luanching yourself of the ground. If you luanched yourself of the ground at a 45 degree angle, depending on your speed (High speeds would also be a bad thing) you could jump over something, like a river. At high speeds, you might loose your footing and fall over and hurt yourself, tumble over etc. (Possibly over a cliff and into a volcano inhabited by volcano sharks)

That must be the longest suggestion i have ever made for DF.
Constructive criticsm, ideas, and what do you think?

Other Games / Scrumbleship! (Early in development)
« on: November 02, 2012, 10:54:30 pm »
Hi, so theres a game called Scrumbleship

The game is set in space, right now early in development with lots of things planned, lots of things implemented. There is currently a heat simulation system which allows the melting or vaporizing of blocks, with different materials having different melting points. Mining, trading, ship movement, multiplayer, power systems, weapons and many other things are planned, while right now you just build ships and destroy them. You are able to build anything out of anything, terminal made out of flesh, thats possible. Hull made of butter, you can do that. Chairs made of aerogel, do that to... for whatever reason.

You can get the game at http://dynamic.scrumbleship.com/get . If you get it, email dirkson@scrumbleship.com and tell him i got you to buy it! (drago55577 over there)

DF Suggestions / Hell Gates!
« on: March 16, 2012, 06:09:24 am »
Another suggestion by me

In evil/terrifying areas, I was thinking their could be spawners (hell gates or whatever) that constantly spawn enemies in waves, and it sends more/harder ones each wave. Depending on the area and the power of the (necromancer/evil diety) that created it, changes what comes out. It would happen later in world gen (few hundred years) and would attack the civilizations, also expanding the evil biome, and making more Hell Gates.

So after much adventuring you could have a 'final stand', fighting an unwinnable battle and becoming a legend.

Forum Games and Roleplaying / Millenia Long War
« on: March 08, 2012, 01:35:16 pm »
Hi people, I'm starting a suggestion game so I can practice writing skills so updates will be somewhat slow. It is based  of something I wrote a few hours earlier.

In a galaxy domimated by war between the Senair (enemy) and the Tilarans (you) has gone on for centuries, neither side ever stopping or running out of soldiers. I'm this time all soldiers are fused directly with weapons and armof, never expected to survive. But you, you are a legend, a soldier having his conciusness transferred into 2.5 meter tall machines, you are the last.

OK so the Senair mainly use railguns and have steampunk like armor, while the Tilarans mainly use plasma and streamlines, smooth armor.

This is, more of a story that you shape and I write so updates will be slow.

Should we start in the war or some random planet?

Creative Projects / a story that randomly came to me
« on: March 08, 2012, 12:18:57 pm »
Fighters streaked overhead, engaged in endless battle. Flying through a dark red sky. Blizzard (the main char) was living up to his name, sending a storm of plasma bolts at an enemy Heavy Automatic Railgun turret, it was firing at the advancing forces including you. A soldier beside you explodes as rounds tear through his body at supersonic speeds and smashing into the ground behind tearing up the blackened land.

The war has gone on for eight-hundred and eleven years but is called the Millenia Long War.

You dive for cover, as small arms fire hit you but vaporise in your shielding. As one of the few soldiers of both races that have had their conciousness transferred into a full suit you survive much more, but you are the only one left, a legend among both species while the rest are just infused with weapons and armor, never expected to survive.

You feel blood spatter on your arm, you look over and the squad beside you was torn up my Inferno class aircraft, they have much more powerful shots then the Shard fighters but are slower to shoot. The two heavy plasma cannons in your back come out, charging up as you leap over the rock and fire at the railgun emplacement. The whole thing explodes killing 2 surrounding soldiers and heavily wounding another. As you walk up, he goes for a gun, but you quickly stomp his head in, covering your foot in brain matter and blood.

Upon a close look, their armor is more steampunk looking, while yours is streamlined and smooth.

You start walking, another railgun is in your way, but reinforced with tanks. Your reinforcements are stuck far behind fighting, your all alone, your final stand.

You charge up the twin plasma cannons again, while bringing your wrist mounted plasma guns or "Stormers" as they are commonly called for their fast rate of fire to full power. You say a few last words, then jump over firing everything. A plasma cannon shot strikes the railgun destroying it, but the other misses by far and hits the turret of a tank. The ground where you just were explodes as they fire everything at it. Your stormers take down infantry as they take down your shield and you dive in cover but not before a shot hits your shoulder and embeds itself causing mild pain even though its a machine, just with a conciousness. The ground all around you is torn up as shots go everywhere, trying to get a lucky hit. You bring the cannons up to full power as your shields come back, jump over and shoot the other tank, the small plasma shots completly melting the small turret and the plasma cannoms blowing up the sides. Another one out.

You look at your work, pleased at your destruction. You proceed towards the cliff face when someone who survived jumps out at you, bladd in hand. You would've died if it wasn't for the impecible timing of a Shard fighter, it left a flaming trail as it fell, slicing right through the enemy then crashing several meters away. You think to yourself 'another one dead, but for what? We have been fighting this war for so long...'

As you proceed towards the cliff, you see the size of a steampunk mech down below, their equivilent of you. You jump down only to be greeted by fire from Infernoes as the cliff starts to fall on you. The last thing you see is the whole squadron being torn apart by a flaming ship, crashing to the ground and causing the most brillient explosion you have ever seen.

Then darkness takes you over.

You wake up, the first thing you notice is the sky...its blue, birds chirping peaceful songs and flying about, or sitting in nests. Your light blue eyes fully actvate and then you see creatures standing in front of you, humanoid and small. You were probably about 4-5 heads higher than them. They didn't look hostile, just curious. You reach a hand out and say "friend", but to them ot was gibberish, but one seemed to understand, he reached his hand out, and said, "friend".
You put your hand on his head, a slight whiring noise was heard and you knew everything about this place, about humans, the year and the planet. Its been one hundred thousand years since the Millenia Long War, and it was peaceful, the ground was green, there was plant life. And you look back at him, and say "friend" in his language and they all relax.

After a while, one talks to you, seems like the leader "where are you from?" was all he said. You tell him everything, the war, the two species and your final moments. With that, you say goodbye to all of them and go on your way.

This is something that just came to me, first thing I have ever written so please tell me any problems.
