I would like to use Wheel Barrels to carry items to a dump zone. Can it be done?

I created a squad, created a barracks, assigned the squad to the barracks, and ordered the squad to train. They go to the barracks and engage in individual combat training. I cannot make them train together. Furthermore individual combat training give almost 0 benefit to the soldiers. What am I doing wrong? Is this a bug?

I am trying to find old fort settings the game used to have such as Dwarfs stay indoors, collect bodies outside, and the like. I cannot find them but I know they have to be there....

When you get to the map rewrite, how far do you intend to go to change the current system of mining? Right now a large number of tiles cleared do not drop stone. This practically annoying when you mine an ore vein and see a large number of tiles not drop ore. This seems like a quick fix for something you intent to overhaul later.

I could see a couple dwarves mining and another dwarf loading a mine cart and taking the unwanted rubble out of the mine.  We already have mine carts!!! We already have dumping zones too. You might have to tweak how quantum stockpiling works, but it could be done. Quantum stockpiling also seems like a quick fix that will be overhauled later.

Actually there has been talk about improving the UI. It might be included in the adventure mode update.

I want to do an experiment with an extreme cold map. I would like to make certain clothing act as insulation against extreme cold. It may also work if I can make the clothing generate heat.

I would like to make a type of pick that digs more slowly and possibly leaves a rock 100% of the time.

I have a bold question. Would a full or partial rewrite of the code give a HUGE increase in performance? Is this one of the things you are determining by profiling the game?

this is basically always true, especially of old-enough code

Is this a serious option that is being considered?
