Just downloaded and started 50.12 (after a 2 or 3 year pause, since 43.x or 45.x, don't remember)

Aaaand WTF?!

New UI is almost unplayable.
No shortcuts visible.
Where's side panel?

Why anything have to be pressed or viewed by mouse?

Won't play new versions of DF anymore.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Cages and terrariums.

I've just realized that glass terrariums now work like cages in earlier versions.

And somehow my dorfs refuses to haul them at all.
Cages with animals are blinking on the place of trap.
Hauling is enabled, stockpile is set near the traps but nobody hauling cages.

Don't understand what to do, it was all ok in previous fortress, except the terrariums, i've made them first time in this game.

I'm just a week ago started with 42.04 and now playing 42.05 and my dorfs getting distracted of almost anything. Those who work getting unfocused of being away from friends, from unable to help anybody, being away from traditions, being unable to merry, and another ten strings of "being unable" and so.
They have a temple, they're meditating at royal room and praying all their gods and drinking twelve kinds of booze from masterwork cups and eating masterwork meals of 50-60 ingredients in masterwork detailed rooms all the time, those fcking dorfs are working a day per month and they're being distracted all the same!

Both [NOTHOUGHT] and [NOEMOTION] doesn't help. WTF by the way?

Maybe there's [ment_att] or [personality] that can help to get rid of these distracted thoughts?

Did someone noticed that when you set "fastdwarf 1 0" in DFHack, they will move a lot faster BUT many dorfs will become idle more often and stay idle (have "no job") while there's full list of jobs for them are all available? (hauling is the most visible work i presume)
Setting it off ("fastdwarf 0 0") makes all of them do fill the working list and become working/hauling again.

It seems that DF allocates dorfs for next work in joblist every day or two, but not immediately after the current job is done (even with "workNow 1" set).

Now i'll do some research more deep with raws here:

Is there any way to create object/liquid/something-out-of-something using only the lever action?
Not within the reaction in workshop (like in bonfire mod), but only using the lever.

Does anybody tried to build a fortress in a terrifying biome?

It's seems almost impossible, when every part of butchered animal, every piece of dead refuse resurrects again and every dwarf become scared and suspend his work.
War animals, soldiers squads and other defensive things won't help as work stops at moment of resurrection.

I'm just realized that one hunted cow can explode into TEN OR EVEN MORE ENEMIES. Bones, each on their own, skin, even hair...
FUKC.

That's true contra-dwarvish terror.
All first 7 died of minor wounds in the first month, trying to kill the same things every day.

And that malodorous goo falling from heaven.
Real horror.

I'm playing ascetic ironman and making automatic system of dumping caravans into chasm.
So i need a topic scheme.
Now it's like that:

^^^^^^ - pressure plates linked to bridges over which traders are going to the depot.

Plates set to react on water level 7, and there's two tiles with 7 and other with 6.
Bridges are retracting continuously but randomly, not rytmically.

So i need advice.

I've tried plates and kittens - randomly.
Levers and pulling jobs - dwarves just stuck on the lever pulling on and off until get hungry or thirsty, so bridges are just blinking without pause.

Is there's a way to make a soluble poison? (non-magma-related  ;D)

Maybe stones that melts in warm water?

PS. I mean the poison that intoxicates while contacting the skin of a victim.
