DF Modding / Crematorium Workshop.

I created a Crematorium Workshop to help alleviate Miasma production by cooking off useless bodyparts and vermain remains to produce ash and small amount of animal fat.
I tried to grab fat from the vermin, but it would just give me untannable rat/lizard/etc skins, so you only get ash from vermain remains.
Using the Crematorium requires the Smelter/Furnace Operator skill.

Sadly this does not stop rotting of corpses from enemies.

This mod adds tags to entity_default.txt and material_template_default.txt so if you've been modding those files yourself.. please follow the modders install.

[NOTE] It currently does not require fuel to use. I could easily add that it requires 1 wood to use.. what do you think?

The Tyranid Hive Fleets have found the world of Dwarf Fortress and have sent their vanguard fleets to scout and infest what they can from this lush planet.

New Race:
Gaunts(Termagaunt and Hormagaunt broods)
Highly mutable species. very aggressive. adaptable to all environments.

Major Creatures:
Hive Tyrant: Monstrous Creature. Always at the head of a gaunt swarm, often commanding head on attacks against human/elvan sites.

Carnifex: Monstrous Creature. loves to destroy towns. deadly at hand to hand.. kill at a range.

Minor Creatures:
Spore Mines: Highly explosive, kill at your own risk.

Tyranid based weapons and armor:

Bone Sword: Deadly swords charged with the will of the hive mind
Lash Whip: A living whip of writhing sinew and bone
Fleshborer: AMMO: Borer Beetles
Deathspitter: AMMO: Death Maggots
Devourer: AMMO: Flesh Worms
Spinefist: AMMO: Spines
Barbed Stinger: AMMO: Strangler Tendrils
Venom Canon: AMMO: Venom Crystals

Spine Shields: large shields made out of hardened chitin
Extended Carapace
Bonded Exoskeleton
Reinforced chitin
Skull Plates
Armored Claws

DF Modding / Immobile creatures moving? need help.

As you can see by the code, I'm trying to make a living predatory plant that is immobile on land.
Problem is, it moves, quite quickly actually, even though i gave it the [SESSILE_LAND] tag.

I checked the error log and got this: Unrecognized Creature Token: SESSILE_LAND

Is this an invalid tag now? If so, what can I use to make this creature immobile?

DF Modding / mixed broods(race) question for current modding project.

I'm working on my first ever Race modding project currently, and of course, as a modding noob, I've hit a few snags along the way.

Ive currently have a race of Gaunts creating cities of Dark fortresses throughout savannas and grasslands while being led by a Hive Tyrant and/or a Carnifex (sometimes a demon as it shares the [POWER] tag).

My main question right now is, how do I get other broods to intermingle with the Gaunt brood short of using [BABYSNATCHER]?

I really love reading about the assaults on human and elf cities but it would be nice to see other Tyranid broods joining the fight.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

DF Suggestions / Directional hearing

I find it most irritating when adventuring and you hear "Urist McDwarf rips off Crazy Psycho Elf's right arm" and have absolutely no idea which direction it came from. I'd like to maybe join the fight(or at least watch) if I can, but most of the time I'm heading the wrong direction. :-\

I'd like something like the compass we already have on the left for sites, but a compass pointing you to the direction where the last message originated.

Make it show ---- if it is within your view-range as well

DF Suggestions / Clothing Scraps

After being inundated by Kobolds and Goblins, I have a lot of "narrow" clothing objects that are a pain to get rid of.

I was thinking of something like melting metal objects, but making cloth/leather scraps instead to patch or make new cloth/leather items out of.

I'd like to see descriptions like:
"This is a Pig tail coat. It is made from Pig tail cloth. It is patched with cow leather."

Or something along those lines.
