Or if you have a phobia to fear. Nothing to fear but fear itself.  We must move Forward, Not backwards, Upwards, not forward and always twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom.

Personally, being an American, (and given the status of US presidential elections for the past 30 years...) I TOO have a fear of electing a space mutant.

Why? If there are more and more space mutants, surely they will elect a leader of them to compete for the position of president, and their publicity speech will make you feel easier and vote for them, just give it time and we will wait and see .Just like what LGBT did, from what I know, LGBT was considered not so normal once in your country ,but now their rights have get protected successfully, wasn’t it ?

I thought that you Americans are not so conservative, since the history of your country is so short but things seem changing a lot, just like the concept of sex changes from conservative to open , and the Abolition of Prohibition , even the weed became legal gradually in some states, right?

However, the history of China always stays the same, with a long time of 5000 years, it still remains a autocratic and conservative circle that nobody could break out , just as what Chairman Mao once said.

If the Chinese could be more good at changing.just like what the Americans do,  China could easily become great again.

Ironically, outside the library room a sign reads that no sound in the library, while in the library room there is a note on each table saying that sounds are allowed here in the sound zone.

I am in the sound area of my school’s library , but it’s odd that there is no one make any sounds here, which makes me embarrassed to recite the knowledge of anatomy and clinical English ,it seems that if I start to recite there would be someone watching you with disgusted eyes.😓

Interesting - rather than "about 1000 dollars per year", what is it in terms of hours of minimum wage where you are? Or in terms of, how does "100 dollars per month" compare to say your monthly rent/house payment, or how much groceries for a month typically cost?  How does "1000 dollars a year" compare to a starting salary once you'd graduate?  (When I graduated college, my starting salary for one year was basically the cost of two years of my college; That is, my private college cost about $25000 a year*, and my first salary after graduating was about $50000/year.)

I never like simple currency conversion; I prefer comparing to actual cost of living things.

For example, where I live and my family situation, our housing costs (house payment, utilities) costs about 2.5x what we spend on groceries for my family.

Spoiler: * (click to show/hide)

As you can say I Live in a barrack-like dormitory , 6 boys sharing one small room , so the rent or house payment is very very low. about 220 dollars per year . And the cost of daily groceries is about 220 dollars per month . Scolorships are for the guys who rank high in the GPA , it's hard to get one . After I get my bachelor's degree, it's hard for me to get a job due to the economic situation and the university major I choose , I must get a master degree, and starting salary for one year after I get my master degree is about 22000 dollars after tax per year , it can easily afford my bachelor's degree.

Haha, now I am a littel envy about the high salary you get .  :P

Anyway these college students’ reactions make me think of China’s  May 4th Movement. But the different point is that we care about our own country’s business, the American students care about the foreigners. It sounds silly to me to do something for the Palestinians or the Israel.

Interestingly according to what one of my history professors once said , such naughty guys do such things are not for the country, they just want to avoid their final or medium-term exam. That’s ironical.

General Discussion / Re: The Dream Thread
« on: April 26, 2024, 11:17:05 am »
Yesterday 's noon I took a nap but I had a nightmare .

I dreamed of president Xi came to my home , enjoying porridge with my family at the Laba Festival , his face seemed miserable with blooming and upsetting frowned eyelash. Interestingly, he didn't say anything , even on word.

After the porridge dinner, I found it's odd that the street is totally quiet , usually it should be crowded with people .
Then I got to know that there should be something odd , something mysterious and maybe something horrible , my eyesight fell onto my dad's face , he looked at me , under the fuzzy light of the light outside , I could see the tears in his eyes .A voice inside me told me that Xi decided to kill my family.

I felt desperate , tired out and hopeless, then suddenly I woke up , it's 1 p.m.

If you study abroad here in ShanDong University , the dormitory our school provided for you would be very nice , you will own a TV , a washing machine or some other useful furniture for each room . However we do not have that high treatment .

That's a less-than-amazing arrangement. One would expect they would treat their own at least as well as others. I would feel uncomfortable as a foreign student if I knew I had better accomodations than the domestic students. I imagine it can engender resentment. My school has a lot of international students and they shuffle them into the same housing system as everyone else.

My understanding is that sort of thing isn't all that strange in China. Foreign students and workers, especially Westerners, get preferential treatment and have more favourable bargaining positions than their Chinese counterparts do. Not sure why in the case of students.

Our university needs to improve its ranking in the world , which might require a high proportion of international students. So ,many  Chinese university gives a favorable treat for them. As a result , many Afrian students came here , not only for the treat , but also for a better chance to study in a higher-level school . It might make me thick of one famous slang from the Qing Dynasty "量中华之物力, 结与国之欢心'' (with all we Chinese have to make you foreigners fond and happy)

Talking about the 3-mate-rumor, it is really upsetting , each time you search about 山东大学 (shandong University)here online , you will always find some articles talking about this , it makes me sometimes feel upset ,frustrated and ashamed , which left a bad reputation to us, sometimes makes me look like a joke to go to such a school which worships to the foreigners .

Talking about the racism , I have nothing to say about the rumor , but I do dislike the smelly smoky perfume from the foreigners' body , that smells so unnatural , in House M. D. , Doctor Forman ,starring by an African American , is the best House-styled one ,and I do like him best, in the opera Les miserable ,the black-edition Javet, make me believe in the dignity of the law and deepen my love of Victor Hugo's romantic novels. Anyway it is rare to have any interactions with the Colored people here, so it seems not so important .

Whoa, lets get too fond of our current education system now.  The vast swathe of americans are sitting there making memes about how eager they are to forget basic algebra.
Why?

Though I once heard that you Americans don't like mathematics but it seeems strange to make memes about the basic algebra .

Tomorrow I had to catch up the school bus at 7 : 25 , today I finished a 3 kilometers' long-run test , the time I spent is 14:50 , interestingly, "1450" is a nickname for us to describe the traitors who works online to spread something harmful to our country .

Which is silly, because the english answer to that is "planant" :V

misspelling something to make an obvious pun is like tuesday in this language
What does  the ''planant" mean , I can't undestand it , does it mean the '' planet'' due to its pronunciation similarity?
Today I took a national English competition , and here's an IQ question in it:

What is the largest "ant" in the world?

The answer is "elephant" , not "giant" .

Are all tests in China like this? Like I'd have probably answered "giant" too if I even realized it's a trick question (though that was probably obvious from context...)

Anyway  the answer is specifically the elephant , making it really disgusting , it is a national competition , why do the author of the question give us such a foolish question !

The three poor guys got a ban , seemingly they are'' rest in peace ''in a digital way , which really upsets me.

Deeply frustrated by the disgusting clinical words, they are long , ugly and obscure , making it difficult to understand , every day seems like filled with endless deadlines , now I am just waiting for the vacation on the April 1 to April 5 during when I can company my family , enjoy homemade delicious meals , communicate with my friend using the common dialect and more importantly , celebrate my little brother's 10th birthday.

5 mates in one bedroom, or 5 people sharing a common dwelling?

Dang that's a lot of roommates, you in a house or a barracks?

Of course the 6 boys sharing a common dwelling . It might sound like I am living in the barracks , but it is very common here , in a more ordinary condition , the standard number should be 4, but due to the backwardness of the building of college dormitory , we have to live in a more crowded way .

If you study abroad here in ShanDong University , the dormitory our school provided for you would be very nice , you will own a TV , a washing machine or some other useful furniture for each room . However we do not have that high treatment .

Talking about the "5 mates" , I am not a racist , but rumors about our university once spread that our school treats the foreign black male students with 3 beautiful female mates . :D
